Re: Bill Trinen on the Addition of DLC to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

XCWarrior

@kenrulei Remember when Nintendo didn't do:

1) online
2) Make you play for online
3) mobile gaming
4) DLC
5) Paid DLC
6) Announcing BS DLC before the game even comes out
7) Patches
8) Overpriced controllers
9) Discounts on things on the digital store
10) Name their systems poorly
....

If you are going to start doing games with lots of DLC, then GOTY edtions will follow. Actually, it's already happening. See Mario Kart 8 for Switch, Smash for Switch, Hyrule Warriors for 3DS, etc. They might not call them GOTY, but that's what they are - game + extra stuff included.

Re: Dragon Quest Heroes I | II Download on Nintendo Switch Will Definitely Need a Micro SD Card

XCWarrior

Assuming major 3rd parties develop for Switch, they still aren't beyond maybe 1 game, expect game sizes to be HUGE. Be prepared if you plan to buy a lot of games digitally to shell out for a HUGE memory card.

Switch storage is sad. This is what happens when your products have been failing for years. Nintendo must apologize!

(If you don't get the Drumpf imitiation, I feel sorry for you.)

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch Could Revive Local Multiplayer

XCWarrior

I would be shocked if people started really getting into local multiplayer again. People dont' like face to face interaction anymore, they like it through the phone.

Its not going to hurt it. And the people that do still get together will. But I can't see it causing a revival. People got together to play tennis and bowl. They aren't going to be dying to milk a cow and count make believe ice cubes.

Re: Kimishima Outlines Nintendo's Continued Attention on VR and Portable System Ideas

XCWarrior

@ThanosReXXX I got Wii Day 1, that was well worth it just for Zelda and Wii Sports, and Tetris Party was very early. I waited until like year 3 for DS, which was for the better, tons of games on the cheap already in the library.

But I still don't like the look of the Switch... it just reminds me too much of the WiiU gamepad. I'm very intersted to see the sales in month 2.

Re: Kimishima Outlines Nintendo's Continued Attention on VR and Portable System Ideas

XCWarrior

@ThanosReXXX I'll happily let you all take that super expensive taste first. If I see most of you didn't die from the dish, I'll wait a year and when the better tasting, longer battery life lasting dish comes out, I'll eat that one.

(I apparently in the minority of the people who bought a WiiU Day 1, and was a 3DS ambassador, and am really pissed and regret being an early adopter. Refuse to do it again).

Re: Kimishima Outlines Nintendo's Continued Attention on VR and Portable System Ideas

XCWarrior

@iGen Gender labeling I see? I have no doubt there are some men out there who use purses, and wear dresses. Tsk tsk you and your sterotypes.

My 3DS is with me almost every day. My tablet same (but have to carrry that in a bag). Nearly everyone has an expensive phone in their pocket. And I don't live in the hood, so not worried about being robbed.

You haven't made a point yet beyond it's clear Drumpf is your hero and you like to make similar "wrong" statement to make yourself feel like you are right.

People are enjoying the death of the Wii U far too much for it be peaceful.

@Turbo857 WITH JOY-Cons. Gotta be able to play the Switch right from your pocket. But it's going to be struggle even without them.

Re: Kimishima Outlines Nintendo's Continued Attention on VR and Portable System Ideas

XCWarrior

@ThanosReXXX Listened to multiple people on Nintendo World Report who've hands on with the Switch. They all like the system. But when asked how it is to use just a joy con to play, they all hesistate and say, "it works." But they all say it doesn't feel great.

You want the casual to feel comfortable, and that right joy con in particular could be a detriment.

For the most part, they all love Switch, but the other repeating theme is, "Buy a Pro Controller." Which strengthens my arguement there needs to be a version of the Switch that lacks the motion control nonsense that needed to stay in the Wii era where it was a fun gimmick but is not as good as buttons.

Re: Kimishima Outlines Nintendo's Continued Attention on VR and Portable System Ideas

XCWarrior

@westman98 A true portable Switch is still a new portable in my eyes. That's what I want.

I don't like the look of Switch. I think after the first month you're going to see a sharp decline in sales. I could be wrong... but I dunno. I hear people's impression on podcasts, they all grumble about those joycons. They aren't as comfortable as Wiiremotes. I don't know if people are going ot go to a party, play 1 2 Switch with a Joy Con, and get hooked like they did Wii Sports.

Cause everyone wants to bowl... hardly anyone has a fierce desire to milk a cow. (HOW I HATE mini game).

Re: Kimishima Outlines Nintendo's Continued Attention on VR and Portable System Ideas

XCWarrior

@datamonkey @gcunit You must be a young 'un and was not around for the infamous Nintendo statement. "There is no revision to the DS coming." And the next day they released the DS Lite.

Nintendo is always working on a new system. Don't listen to their BS. Companies - all companies - spew BS. They don't want you to wait and buy their better product down the road, they need you to buy their new product NOW.

Re: Nintendo's Share Value Takes a Hit Following Financial Results

XCWarrior

@Juma009 Does not work way. I can't tell you exactly how it works, but no, not all Switch is going to be "all profit."

They probably make more per 3DS since its 6 years old and cheap to make.

Nintendo has to figure out how to appeal to the masses again. These numbers show they are failing at that miserably.

Re: Feature: The Rollercoaster Ride of Nintendo's Financial Reports

XCWarrior

@Malakai As I already pointed out, I didn't say you should take Pokemon out, but Nintendo needs more than 1 big selling IP. As this article shows, Nintendo's net sales have gone done 5 years in a row. No guarantee Switch is going to change that. Time will tell.

@MadAdam81 4 million at $10 a pop is $40 million.
Call of Duty needs to sell just 666k copies to make that much. That's not factoring in limited editions, DLC, season pass, etc. It had a down year this year but still did better than SMR. Yes, the dev cost is WAY higher, but SMR probably cost more than $500k to make since NIntendo has not using their own hardware.

But SMR is already out of the top 50 grossing mobile games, and its only been out like 6 weeks. https://thinkgaming.com/app-sales-data/

It doesn't have ever green life like a typical Mario game does. That's concerning.

Re: Feature: The Rollercoaster Ride of Nintendo's Financial Reports

XCWarrior

@Malakai Read the article. Pokemon was basically the sole thing that made 2016 a decent year. I'm not saying don't use them, but they need to find another source of revenue.

Pokemon Go did great, Super Mario Run bombed. Outside of Pokemon Sun/Moon, no 3DS did gangbusters. FE Birthright/Conquest beat expectations, but they certainly didn't sell 14 million units.

And a million sales for those few other 3DS games isn't setting the world on fire, it's just a nice small bag of cash.

So yes, Pokemon counts, but my gosh Nintendo needs more than IP to make them money.

Re: Feature: The Rollercoaster Ride of Nintendo's Financial Reports

XCWarrior

I've been saying for months Nintendo is currently doing terrible and people yell at me on here.

If not for Pokemon, imagine how bad this year would be.... yikes.

I sure hope Nintendo has a plan in place to sell Switches after Day 1. I don't see anyone on Twitter or Facebook complaining they were unable to preorder a Switch if they wanted one.

Meaning: Nintendo already reached saturation point with Switch and we're going to see WiiU like sales after month 1 unless the games are super appealing in a party setting.

Re: The Pokémon Company And Nintendo "Thinking" About Safer Pokémon GO Device

XCWarrior

Haven't played POkemn Go as much b/c the weather is bad here in Ohio, but you never need to look at your phone constantly. And if you have to look for moe than a second, stop walking (unless you're in a street).

As for changing the POkemon Go Plus accessory, changing its design so you won't get beaten up for wearing it in public would be a good first step. If safety really is a concern I mean.

Re: Talking Point: Is the Nintendo Switch a Handheld or Console? Does it Matter?

XCWarrior

@NEStalgia Yeah, having owned a OG 3DS, that thing was a disaster looking back. And since then that battery blew up so if I want to let my son play the OG 3DS I'll have ot buy a new one. That's why I can't consider Switch portable. Because the OG 3DS barely qualified b/c you basically had to have an outlet near you at all time after the first 50 charges.

@westman98 We are not going to agree on this. So let's call it a day.

Re: Talking Point: Is the Nintendo Switch a Handheld or Console? Does it Matter?

XCWarrior

@NEStalgia "Nintendo's messaging seriously manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again and again."

This part of your statement was dead on true.

Then you start rambling, just like Nintendo does (as you point out), and lost your message. Isn't it Ironic, don'tcha ya think?

As for your reply to me, I sure hope we get the Switch Mini/Go/Useful version sooner rather than later. LIke you said, Japan is a mobile market, and Switch is not a good mobile device when the battery life is 2-6 hours.

Re: Talking Point: Is the Nintendo Switch a Handheld or Console? Does it Matter?

XCWarrior

@westman98 I own a laptop and an android tablet.

I can put them in my bag to transport. But they are inconvenient to just pull out at any point. Plus you have to hope there's a wifi hot spot unless you have a simcard for them.

Sounds like you're going to take your Switch with you. And you will get annoyed that you can't put it in your pocket. And if you are in line for something, you're going to start pulling your phone out after awhile, not your Switch, to kill the time, cause its portable.

Re: Talking Point: Is the Nintendo Switch a Handheld or Console? Does it Matter?

XCWarrior

@westman98 NO there isn't. if I can't fit it in my pocket, it's not a portable system.

I look forward to all the videos in the first few weeks on youtube where people took their non-portable Switches out for fun, dropped them, and shattered the screen.

There will be MANY MANY videos in March. And my guess is, Nintendo will have in the warranty clause of, "You dropped it, you voided it" so they don't have to fix them for free.
