@Ventilator I'm not arguing. That's why I said not even Steam has a good solution. Word of mouth (aka seeing stuff on social media and videos/reviews being done) seems to be the only way for games to get some sales/traction now.
If only Nintendo could find a way to make the shop easier to navigate. Though to be honest, even Steam is at a point where's basically impossible to find something you don't know you want randomly.
@SwitchVogel LOL Build on it. Wow you are giving Nintendo credit. The basic online gaming with others is still not stable. Let's hope they fix that first.
I'm not one for buying DLC, like, I only have 1 time I think ever, and that was because it came bundled in when I bought whatever game it was.
This dude is not enticing me to make an exception. First two characters in this set are not exactly exciting. I can't remember the last time I saw anyone talk about Arms on my Twitter feed, and got plenty of Switch love on there.
I'm sure this will make some happy, but it's a big head scratcher for me.
@Kalmaro Having Nintendo online has basically been a waste of my money. So it can't cheapen it anymore. Something good really needs to be included with it for me to want to renew it next year.
@dartmonkey As this idea died, maybe go back to a new fresh post on the website each week so people can find this easier. It's a good concept, but it doesn't even get bumped to the home page when it's changed.
The number of people that have commented, "Never heard of these games before."
Good grief, these developers have been around since the 3DS at least. There are other people that makes games besides Nintendo. Try out some other games.
If you like strategy type games, but the "Mercenaries" and "Conquer" games are enjoyable.
I'm sure people will like this art style, but I saw this and was like, "nope pass." Just disgusting to look at it. Why I couldn't get into the Binding of Isaac either.
As others have said, man there are just too many weekly releases. And so many games don't get reviews. Can't fault the sites, you have to pick and choose at this point. It's quite the reversal from the WiiU.
Those of us with patience will wait, what, 3-4 weeks and the game will be half off. I'm not paying for $70 just because you can see cheek bones on characters on close ups. I don't care about that.
@Apportal I love games that have tons of play time. Not sure why you think I don't? I'm just saying they are hard to review when people don't read reviews after say day 3 after a game's release. And honestly, they don't read the first days either. They just scroll to the bottom, look at the number, and MAYBE read a sentence or two. Maybe.
@Roam85 Dude, come on. If you don't know, you aren't old enough to get to know.
@Rika_Yoshitake But you said every game had to be seen to the end. Even the endless ones. Can't go back on that now. Or... maybe... learn not use absolutes.
@Rika_Yoshitake There's so many reasons this might be hard for some:
1) The game is 100+ hours long, and the publishers send the review codes 2 days before. And gamers are impatient w***** who want reviews day 1. 2) The game is so bad, and so broken, you simply can't beat it. 3) It's stupid hard, and the developers forgot to have difficulty settings. 4) The game is beyond repetitive, and there is no clear indicator that's going to change. 5) It's a MMO, and has no end 6) It's a... whatever you call Fortnite, and it has no end 7) It's a puzzle game, and it has no end
I agree, MOST times, yes, get to the end. But can't happen all the times, especially when there is no end.
@RPGamer Agreed, I'm not mad. I am on your side in the sense I just want companies to listen to us (sometimes) and provide fun games. But unfortunately, if they can ignore the requests of the un-silent minority and make tons of $ from the masses who aren't picky... they will do it.
@RPGamer I love Nintendo, but their DLC explosion and money driven fee to pay mobile games let you know they want the $. Heck it took how many lawsuits to acknowledge the joy con drift problem?
Of course Indy devs are in it for the fans, that's why their games mostly don't sell well. And I own tons of them!
Go ask Sega why they haven't made a sequel to Crazy Taxi, Vectorman, Jet set Radio, Panzer Dragon (new, not remake), Golden Axe, Shinobi.... it's cause they want to stay open and can't listen to fans even if they ask for this.
Wayforward is cool, another Indy dev, but again Indy devs are awesome... they also struggle to put food on the table (with some exceptions, but there are thousands of them and we only know of the 20-25 success stories).
@RPGamer You didn't name one. And even if you do, it's just those companies hide their main goal - profit - better than others.
Now don't get me wrong, the best way to make profit is to make fun games, but many companies are realizing gambling mechanics make even more money than fun ones do sadly.
I don't agree with how the companies think, I am just telling you, that is how they operate.
@RPGamer That's how all game companies see people all the time. Just some mask it better than others. Companies want your money, they don't care about your opinions.
@ivory_soul Do your kids read? My oldest does, and he would read this. So it was a review worth writing. And it was short, probably didn't take the person long at all.
Let's face it, the games to review is going to start slowing as offices continue to work from home and progress is being slowed.
I would have rather my prediction about it just being an expansion of mega or dynamax Pokemon in SwSh or Go over this. No thanks, I'm good with the two Pokemon games I'm currently playing.
My kids love this thing and they are now begging to brush twice a day. I agree there is some head tracking issues but if you angle it with the wall and keep it still, it helps a lot.
8/10 and I'm sure this thing will get updates. Great job of making kids want to brush their teeth Nintendo!
Considering it's "big" - I am guessing they are going to do something with Dynamaxing or Mega Evolution, you know, "big" things. So guys, bump the brakes on the hype train hard.
9 starters instead of 3? Well glad to hear some developers have listened to a long time complaint about Pokemon games.
I'll give this a look when it comes out. Behilda looks weird, remind me of a Yu-Gi-Oh monster Dark Eyes Illusionist. And I'd love to start a journey with a ghost for once.
The online is not good. I got the free year with Twitch, then that expired last month. I decided to buy Tetris 99 physical to get the yearly subscription, but should hav elooked to see what you got for the "premium" version. It's next to nothing.
They need to fix the online, it's worse than WiiU. WiiU at least when you wanted to play with friends, it wasn't a struggle and laggy.
Covid is going to affect everything. This list is bigger than I expected it to be, especially considering Japan wasn't as bad as the US but still ignored the virus for awhile.
@Northwind I think people don't realize sometimes how much they focus on the negative.
I used to listen to podcasts a lot, now I barely do. One reason is that people would be talking about a game. They would talk about the cool aspects for about 1-2 minutes, then for 10 minutes talk about that 1 thing that annoys them. Then at the end, they go, "it's a must have." But I listened for 10 minutes how awful that one part of the game was, and I often think, "well, I'll get it on clearance maybe."
That's all. Not attacking you, or anybody else specifically. It's just an annoying people do with video games, movies, books, TV shows. They could love it, but man do they love to tell you the 1 thing they hate about it.

Re: Student Sells $80k Pokémon Card Collection To Pay For University
The problem here is the price of college. And this won't even fully cover his expenses.
Re: The Game Awards GOTY Is The Last Of Us Part 2
I wouldn't say Last of Us 2 was all that big. I remember it on Twitter for a couple of weeks, and then it went away.
Hades seems to have stayed in the spotlight longer. And the Ghost of Toshiba (SP?) as well.
I don't know. I didn't play any of them.
Re: Random: This Tragic Tale Proves You Should Never Assume Your Parents Will Store Your Gaming Crap Forever
Totally on the guy. Clearly doesn't talk to his parents.
The only sad part is that the parents didn't sell all the stuff and move away, not telling him. Because clearly, he wouldn't have noticed "for years."

An article about whiners whining about entitlement.
Wow, Pulitzer prize winning stuff here....
Re: Review: AVICII Invector Encore Edition - A Fitting Tribute To A Much-Missed Musical Talent
I like these types of games, but had no idea who Avicii was. Just went to Youtube, checked out his most popular searched song. Nope, pass.
But for those that like the genre, enjoy.

Not bad. It should all be in game though. But I'll give it a B for effort.

@Chimaj Just don't look at the list. I'm interested in the game, so I'm NOT going to look at it. I'll read some reviews and go from there.

@sixrings I don't see Switch games going up to $70. The next system sure.
They may not go down in 3-4 weeks, but honestly, with 3 kids, I can wait. The backlog isn't exactly shrinking anymore.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Prepared To Spend $70 On The Latest Games?
Let those with FOMO buy the games at $70 day 1.
Those of us with patience will wait, what, 3-4 weeks and the game will be half off. I'm not paying for $70 just because you can see cheek bones on characters on close ups. I don't care about that.

Re: Nintendo To Cut Back On Mobile Games After Animal Crossing Success, Says Report
Not shocked, but mostly because they put half hearted efforts into Super Mario Run, Mario Kart, Pocket Camp and Dr. Mario.
Not a big shock, the games they actually cared about - Fire Emblem and Dragalia Lost and smartly handed Pokemon Go over - al have done well.
Whatever makes them money is where they should go. And Pokemon Go alone will continue to give them some mobile profits for awhile.
