Re: The Red Lantern Slides Onto Switch Later This Year

Vicki_S

Dog sledding, especially the Iditarod, is what my 11-year-old (12 in two weeks) niece wants to do when she grows up. I swear that kid's goal in life is to freeze me to death; I hate the cold and every time she comes over I end up covered in blankets. It's my own fault for putting on "Balto" and giving her my old collection of stuffed wolves and Huskies.

I want to recommend this game for her, but maybe I'll wait a bit after seeing the dog die. My sister's kids are a lot more sensitive and sheltered than I was plus the only death they've experienced was their dog and that was fairly recent.

Re: Feature: The Best Racing Games On Nintendo Switch

Vicki_S

I love MK8 Deluxe and I have Fast Racing NEO on the Wii U. I plan to get Team Sonic Racing and Out Run.

I think I'll get CTR Nitro-Fueled for the PS4 just because it was originally a PlayStation game and pre-ordering might give me more themes. The only reason I have Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on Switch is because I had the Switch before I even considered getting a PS4.

The chaos! Seriously, though, it's time for some MK8D DLC featuring new tracks based on more recent games and some more retro tracks (mostly hoping for GameCube).

One thing about MK8 that slightly disappoints me is that "Dry Dry Desert" gets rid of the sandstorms from GCN (don't know about the plant that eats you at the bottom of the quicksand pit since I never end up in there anymore). They also got rid of the electric things in the tube in "Koopa Cape", which could've been replaced with fans or something since it's underwater and Cheep Cheeps are swimming through it. I miss those extra obstacles from the original versions.

Re: Game Freak Director Junichi Masuda Thanks Pokémon Fans For Their Continued Support

Happy anniversary, Pokemon!

I watched the anime as a kid, but I didn't have any of the games till I was about 20 when I got Yellow from a friend (so I still got my start in Kanto despite being such a late bloomer; I have trouble remembering Pokemon from later generations). My two best friends gave me a 3DS for my 24th birthday and I started picking up Pokemon games myself.

Update: R.I.P. to the friend who gave me Pokemon Yellow. He died several days after I made this post.

Re: 1TB Micro SD Cards Are About To Hit Stores, Perfect For Your Switch Storage Woes

Vicki_S

I mostly buy physical (most of my cartridges are in the Switch case) and still have a fair amount of space on my 64GB SD card. I have a 256GB card waiting for it to run out of space.

My 500GB PS4 has a bunch of games offloaded because I’m out of space, but going physical doesn’t help with PlayStation and Xbox. My Xbox has 1GB and is probably about half full.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th February (North America)

Vicki_S

As a NSO user, the NES games and Tetris 99 are a given. I'll get the Captain Toad DLC later. Interested in Degrees of Separation and I'll possibly get Dawn of New Riders later.

As for FF IX, I'll go with PlayStation since the Store has most FF games and I have both a PS3 and PS4 as well as possible plans to get a Vita.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 2nd)

Vicki_S

I always play Pokemon Go when I'm out, even it's just via Adventure Sync at work. Maybe some Mario Kart 7 on break and Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee when I get the chance.

If I had time I'd start playing Kingdom Hearts, but I've got work and I'm leaving for Disney World on Monday. If you're going to put off playing a Kingdom Hearts game obligations and Disney World are the best reasons.

Re: Poll: Surprise! A New Zelda Is In Development, But What Do You Want From It?

Vicki_S

Large, open overworld to explore since that's what inspired the series in the first place. It needs more towns/settlements.

Large, traditional dungeons and unique bosses because the shrines/Divine Beasts don't cut it and all look the same. Need more of the traditional enemies.

Primarily non-linear, but maybe have some linear bits for the sake of the story.

HD-2D art style, but in brighter colors than what we see in Octopath Traveler. That game is gorgeous.

16-bit music with fanfare for chests and items, bring back some of the older songs, and have music play an important role again.

Find rupees and hearts the old-fashioned way because the lack of rupees everywhere in BotW implies the Minish are extinct and that's pretty sad. MC was my first 2D Zelda.

Bring back the green hat and tunic! The Champion's Tunic and ponytail grew on me, but I still want my green hat and tunic. The Master Sword should be required. There should also be a hookshot.

Destructible weapons are a pain and need to go. I like rain, but stop making it so dang hard to climb! Keep the ability to run and jump.
