Re: Square Enix Is Looking Into More HD-2D Remakes Of SNES Classics

Varnen

It's a shame they are not releasing Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster made with this glorious thing called HD-2D.
Chrono Trigger would be the perfect game to make use of it, since its 2D sprites are so emblematic.
At this point, ANYTHING related to a Chrono Trigger remake/remaster would print money, very low risk on doing that.

Re: Square Enix President Knows You Hate NFTs Because You "Play To Have Fun"

Varnen

The amount of disinformation and ignorance towards NFT is hilarious.
With all due respect, the majority of people here don't know ANYTHING about it and how it can be applied to gaming, nor how play-to-earn games can change lives around the world.

The "you pay to own something, but you won't own it" argument is extremely hypocrite as long as you buy digital games without complaining. They aren't in your shelf, right?

Take Axie Infinity for instance, the most popular NFT game that made more money than Ubisoft in 2021, made by only 3 people.
People who invest an amount of money can earn that money back, make more money out of it, and still have fun (although the game is still in alpha).
The Philippines are most bullish on Axie than other countries, and the reality today is that poor people are already making a better income than their regular salary out of a game. Isn't that wild?

Now, there are some differences when it comes to big companies, but the technology behind blockchain is the same for everyone. The best part is that big companies have more devs and more resources to keep the games going.

If an indie company could make a simple yet fun NFT game, I'm excited to see what AAA NFT games will look like.

Re: Nintendo: It Would Be A "Disservice" To "Loyal Fans" To Release Animal Crossing In A Rushed State

@PBandSmelly are you sure they do have an excuse? Pokémon is one of the best selling franchise in the world and they're still re-using gen 6 models. They improved the textures, lights, shadows, etc, but the raw models are already 6 years old, at least.
Not to mention the overworld, with low resolution textures everywhere. Did you see the trees? The ground texture?

With companies investing tons of money to produce high quality video games, I get very disappointed with Game Freak being so lazy with the money-maker franchise they have.

Edit: I almost forgot, but the battle screen is the same from Sun/Moon.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch and Third-Parties - Let's Be Realistic

Varnen

I think NO ONE should expect that AAA games will come to the Switch in first place. They are games developed to perform well on PS4 and XBO, made by computers (so they'll obviously run better on PC), so we just can't expect they will run on a system which is underpowered and which was out of the plans of thirdies when they started to develop these games.
However, I have a feeling that some thirdies will make games for the Switch which will be ported to other consoles, because it's easier to do that way (or even exclusives).
What I'm trying to say is that the Switch shouldn't be put in the same scenario as PS4/XBO and be smashed if they couldn't do impossible ports due to its hardware

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Sold 4.7 Million Units Worldwide

At first I thought Monster Hunter and Pokémon would make Switch sales go nuts, now I rely on Pokémon and Metroid.
Although I'm not part of the MH community, I know how these games were important to the 3DS and it's a bit sad to see what Capcom is doing
