Re: Nintendo Confirms September amiibo Release Details for North America

UnseatingKDawg

@ASonic3582: Yeah, Walmart might just be due for another. But I looked into the other exclusives as well - they might be more than a coincidence. Shulk and Ness are RPG characters who usually appeal to teenagers - who usually go to GameStop. Meta Knight and Dark Pit are viewed as tough male warrirors - men are more likely to shop at Best Buy. Pokemon are kid-appeal characters - kids shop at ToysRUs. And Jigglypuff and Rosalina are feminine characters, and women are more likely to shop at Target. So in a sense, it kind of makes a "family" of sorts the way it's set up. So I would think that that setup would be more than a coincidence, but that's just me.

At any rate, I'm hoping I can secure that retro pack. They're among the last few characters I need that aren't DLC-based.

Re: We Can't Release Virtual Console Games Any Faster As It Would Impact New Development, Says Iwata

Yeah... No. I don't believe this. Not entirely, anyway. I can understand it takes some time to make sure the controllers work properly through the emulation, and it might take time to get proper clear scans of original manuals, but I really don't think it would slow down production significantly.

At this rate, I'll consider myself lucky if I can upgrade all my imported SNES and N64 games (barring Indiana Jones). I don't even think Genesis or Master System will even have a snuff of a chance this time around.

Re: Talking Point: E3 Highlighted Nintendo's Development Shift Towards NX, and Away from Wii U

UnseatingKDawg

I won't be jumping to NX, at least not at launch. While the Wii U isn't performing well in the market, I personally think it's the best game system I've owned. Don't have to worry about needing a TV in most cases, several games are still fun to play and are downright beautiful when it comes to graphics, and I got to play classics I never thought I'd get to legitimately - like EarthBound, Donkey Kong 64, and Duck Hunt. Then they put Wii games on there too - managed to snag both Punch-Out!! and Metroid Prime Trilogy, both of which I'd have to hunt down otherwise. And I'm very much looking forward to Yoshi's Woolly World and Super Mario Maker.

But for the record, if the words "Virtual Console" come up on this NX thing, I ain't giving that much attention.

Re: Nintendo of America Apologises for amiibo Shortages and Promises More Re-Stocks

@bluedogrulez: They ought to. It's bad enough collectors have a hard time due to people like this - it's worse for kids who want them since they have less of an opportunity either due to school or lack of funds.

I know the Walmart I work at had it once for the Gold Marios - 12 were available, and I and 11 others got them the night of release, one per customer. On the other hand, the Walmart my friend works at had 12 Marios... and all 12 went to one person on the night of release because they didn't bother limiting, which is a shame. The only reason I would say that we don't limit the other figures is because we usually only get a maximum of four (on average) of other characters like Mario, Bowser, Zelda, Diddy, etc.

Re: Review: Yoshi's Island DS (Wii U eShop / DS)

UnseatingKDawg

I wasn't too fond of the VC setup, which I kind of learned the hard way (you'd think with all those screen options, one would've disabled the DS border). But I liked this game on the DS, even if the difficulty ramped up insanely. I actually got Nintendo Power because of this game - took advantage of the offer in the game's packaging so I could get the player's guide.

Re: Diddy Kong Nerfed In Latest Super Smash Bros. Update

UnseatingKDawg

@jamesplusgames: I'm not complaining about Diddy being nerfed - I just think it's ridiculous that these "pros" complain to the point that Nintendo patches a character they can't beat. I know I'm not a pro myself, but if I were called that, I'd make sure I live up to the name - as in trying to find ways around characters others are good at. Not begging Nintendo patch the character in question. I mean, I have some trouble against certain characters my friends play as, and I have a hard time controlling certain characters, but I'm not asking for the characters to be changed either. And that's how I think these "pros" in the tournament scene should behave, not complaining about the OP character of the week.

Re: Turn It Up To Eleven, Guitar Hero Is Making A Glorious Comeback On Wii U

UnseatingKDawg

Eh, judging by the confirmed artists (I only find The Rolling Stones good out of THAT list) and the new guitar controllers, I think me and my family will pass on this one.

I mean, I have no problem with innovation, but I think they should've stuck with the classic colored buttons. Especially since we'd have to get new controllers regardless of the version we'd be getting.
