I agree with him - don't like it, don't do it. Heck, I dislike Super Guide in nearly every game it appears in, but I don't complain that it's there. If anything, I just yell at that goofy pig and tell him to stop waving me down with that annoying jingle.
@XCWarrior: Sarcasm is basically a second language in my family.
But for the record, if this post were during, say, Black Friday sales - I might just be a little more inclined to believe it. We 'Mericans is crazy people!
@ASonic3582: Yeah, Walmart might just be due for another. But I looked into the other exclusives as well - they might be more than a coincidence. Shulk and Ness are RPG characters who usually appeal to teenagers - who usually go to GameStop. Meta Knight and Dark Pit are viewed as tough male warrirors - men are more likely to shop at Best Buy. Pokemon are kid-appeal characters - kids shop at ToysRUs. And Jigglypuff and Rosalina are feminine characters, and women are more likely to shop at Target. So in a sense, it kind of makes a "family" of sorts the way it's set up. So I would think that that setup would be more than a coincidence, but that's just me.
At any rate, I'm hoping I can secure that retro pack. They're among the last few characters I need that aren't DLC-based.
@ASonic3582: I wouldn't be so sure about another Walmart exclusive. I work at one and talked to the Nintendo rep who comes in to update the kiosk and displays, and from what he says, Walmart in general doesn't really care to support amiibo. At least some stores don't, anyway. But hey, anything can happen.
Eh, no big deal. Should be taking more time to honor the man anyway.
While I'm waiting to update my next Virtual Console game, I'll do what Iwata would've wanted any fan to do - play and enjoy the games. Might start Oracle of Seasons next.
As long as it's not Sonic Boom, I'll be looking forward to it. Nothing wrong with the cartoon, it's just that I've been pining for another game like Unleashed, or Colors, or Generations, or Lost World.
Yeah... No. I don't believe this. Not entirely, anyway. I can understand it takes some time to make sure the controllers work properly through the emulation, and it might take time to get proper clear scans of original manuals, but I really don't think it would slow down production significantly.
At this rate, I'll consider myself lucky if I can upgrade all my imported SNES and N64 games (barring Indiana Jones). I don't even think Genesis or Master System will even have a snuff of a chance this time around.
Man, this week keeps getting better for me. Got four amiibo yesterday, got another one today, got payed today, I can update Ocarina of Time, and I have off the next two days. Sweet!
"Hopefully" being the key word. It'd be another game for me to upgrade, but, like I figured, N64 on VC dropped as soon as DK64 was released. Still waiting on Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 64, and Yoshi's Story.
I won't be jumping to NX, at least not at launch. While the Wii U isn't performing well in the market, I personally think it's the best game system I've owned. Don't have to worry about needing a TV in most cases, several games are still fun to play and are downright beautiful when it comes to graphics, and I got to play classics I never thought I'd get to legitimately - like EarthBound, Donkey Kong 64, and Duck Hunt. Then they put Wii games on there too - managed to snag both Punch-Out!! and Metroid Prime Trilogy, both of which I'd have to hunt down otherwise. And I'm very much looking forward to Yoshi's Woolly World and Super Mario Maker.
But for the record, if the words "Virtual Console" come up on this NX thing, I ain't giving that much attention.
I've been importing a bit more lately myself for amiibo. 'Bout the only way I can really get the ones I want any more. Already ordered Palutena and Dark Pit from Japan - I honestly don't see them hitting my region of America at all, period.
I didn't think the event was that bad. If anything, I got more hyped up for Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Woolly World. Especially since my amiibo will be put to much more use.
The guy who posted this on NeoGAF... I'd say he needs some help. Serious help.
After getting the Smash Mario, the MP Mario, and the Gold Mario, I ain't in a hot rush for a silver one. I'm patiently waiting for the new waves instead.
I was going to pass on this one, but after hearing all of this - all movies being playable, all characters across said movies, no need to get another starter pack, and another Marvel set being included, I might just look into this. Good thing it releases in fall - my birthday's then, so I can use possible birthday money towards this.
@bluedogrulez: They ought to. It's bad enough collectors have a hard time due to people like this - it's worse for kids who want them since they have less of an opportunity either due to school or lack of funds.
I know the Walmart I work at had it once for the Gold Marios - 12 were available, and I and 11 others got them the night of release, one per customer. On the other hand, the Walmart my friend works at had 12 Marios... and all 12 went to one person on the night of release because they didn't bother limiting, which is a shame. The only reason I would say that we don't limit the other figures is because we usually only get a maximum of four (on average) of other characters like Mario, Bowser, Zelda, Diddy, etc.
I decided to try it out since it was free, despite me owning the majority of what's on offer. They could improve, as said - not everyone has 30 amiibo figures.
Combined with these songs I've never even heard of with the new controller being neccesary, I still ain't finding a valid reason to pick this one up. I
Am I the only one who actually likes GBA games on the Wii U since I can play them on a TV? Maybe it's because I never had a GameCube with a Game Boy Player...
Well, I was hoping to upgrade Super Mario RPG and Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures, since those are the last two SNES games I have stuck on the Wii Menu. Oh well... At least I can look forward to upgrading Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Yoshi's Story, Paper Mario, Mario Kart 64, and Super Smash Bros. And then wait patiently for them to get on the stick for SEGA Genesis.
I'd have to agree with others - MK8 DLC is done the right way. But Smash Bros. DLC could use improvement. Like they could throw in some more stages, or a new game mode, or something.
I wasn't too fond of the VC setup, which I kind of learned the hard way (you'd think with all those screen options, one would've disabled the DS border). But I liked this game on the DS, even if the difficulty ramped up insanely. I actually got Nintendo Power because of this game - took advantage of the offer in the game's packaging so I could get the player's guide.
Well, I already cleared Classic, All-Star, and Smash Run with multiple characters (that aren't Mewtwo) on the 3DS because the cartridge decided to wipe its data clean on Tuesday. Good thing I don't play online often.
@NintyMan: I'm getting tired of that myself. I had some pretty good replays, including a match with four of my friends. The victor didn't lose a single stock in a 5-player match.
@jamesplusgames: I'm not complaining about Diddy being nerfed - I just think it's ridiculous that these "pros" complain to the point that Nintendo patches a character they can't beat. I know I'm not a pro myself, but if I were called that, I'd make sure I live up to the name - as in trying to find ways around characters others are good at. Not begging Nintendo patch the character in question. I mean, I have some trouble against certain characters my friends play as, and I have a hard time controlling certain characters, but I'm not asking for the characters to be changed either. And that's how I think these "pros" in the tournament scene should behave, not complaining about the OP character of the week.
I would like to think that the "pros" who play competitively in tournaments would form strategies and such to combat characters they can't defeat (or rather, the players who are really good with said characters), but no. They just complain until a patch is made. Oh well.
Eh, judging by the confirmed artists (I only find The Rolling Stones good out of THAT list) and the new guitar controllers, I think me and my family will pass on this one.
I mean, I have no problem with innovation, but I think they should've stuck with the classic colored buttons. Especially since we'd have to get new controllers regardless of the version we'd be getting.

I'd really like if this would come over to NA. It'd be nice to get a box of goodies once a month.

In any case, I might try out Kirby 64. I know my friend will definitely enjoy hearing that this hit the VC.

Glad I imported both of mine from Japan.
