Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker is shaping up to be quite an attractive title, launching in the otherwise quiet month of May. A remake of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2, this enhanced version offers nearly twice as much content as the original, and a collector’s edition will be available at launch that throws in various physical goodies.
To keep momentum going leading up to release, Atlus recently posted a trailer explaining how the Demon Auction will feature in the upcoming release. Players will be able to spend Macca - the game’s currency - to compete with up to three other bidders for possession of demons on sale. This will be an important aspect of the game as new demons will only be obtainable either by fusing two of them together or by winning them in this auction. If players don’t want to wait, there will be a pricy, immediate buyout option and there will also be random special auctions with particularly powerful demons and significantly higher stakes. Here’s the video, explaining the process alongside some footage:
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker just keeps growing more appealing as more information becomes available on it.

I had the first one for 3DS, traded it in because I forgot where I was and what I was doing after a long break in between. Regretting this decision I am now going to buy it digital when it goes on sale for $15 in a few days in NA. I'm really excited for the 2nd one of course but will probably wait a bit since I'll be preoccupied with xenoblade 3D and the first devil survivor. ....gotta stop trading games in! This looks really good and I'm really excited for it!
@TerrapinJess I traded in both ds version to buy the 3ds version. Well I'll get the second one at least when it comes down in price.
I also played the first for 90 hours and stopped short of the end for whatever reason. I restarted it again about 9 months ago and put in another 70 hours and got further only to stop yet again when Fantasy Life came out! 165 hours and still haven't beat it lol.
That Lord of Magna Maiden Heaven is coming out in May too if I'm not mistaken.
Meh. Really didn't get into the first one. Probably not gonna get this one.
@Spoony_Tech Oh wow! Man that must be an even bigger game than I thought...!
Have you played the other Shin Megamis? Specifically Tensei 4 for 3DS? I keep seeing that on sale for $15 as well and keep talking myself out of it...
@TerrapinJess SMT IV was my favorite game released that year. Stop talking yourself out of it and get it now. It starts out kinda hard but once you figure things out it all just clicks and things get a lot easier. I've got over 100 hours on that one and still haven't beat it. I'm told I'm at the very end though of the hardest path and I'm stuck on a boss I have to beat. Pretty annoying yet it was still my favorite game of that year which released a ton of 3ds games.
I completed the first one on DS and loved it. I might wait until 2016 with this because of Xenoblade 3D, Majora's mask and multiple wii u titles atm. maybe sooner, time will tell.
@TerrapinJess Shin M IV is awesome. You should get it if u like this kind of rpg.
Hm this is just the same function as Devil Survivor 1 and its overclocked version, nothing really groundbreaking. Although this way of auction was pretty cool, I used to use the buyout feature before I realized how much money I saved using the auctions. Won 99% of the auctions and got the demons at 3 times less of the buyout price.
Amazing game. Couldn't get into the 2nd Devil Survivor (from what I saw of the game) but I will definitely try out this Overclocked version.
@Yrreiht Please do. The second one is A LOT better than the first one.
I couldn't get into it either, despite DeSu2 being one of my favorite games on the DS.
@Melkac Well, do they follow each others chronologically? If they do I guess I could just read the story somewhere in a walkthrough or something. I could get it once Atlus puts it on sale.
@Yrreiht I'm pretty sure you can play the 2nd one without knowing much about the first one's story. The mechanics are all similar but the story doesn't tie into the first game I don't think. It's been a long time since I played them.
Edit: Basically they took everything in the first game and refined it to make it better and made a whole new story seperate from the first games.
I was hoping this would be announced during the last European Nintendo Direct. But I guess it was wishful thinking. But it the auction in SMT:DS2 Breaker looks really nice!
no thanks got IV because of the CN promo wasn't really my cuppa tea kept getting lost.
