Goodness. If it takes 8 more years for a Switch 3 I'll be an almost- 60 year old gamer by then!?!?
I can remember the Wii U launch with a bit more emotion as in-store stuff was still big then. By the time the Switch rolled around there weren't any lines; I picked up my pre-order on my lunch and that was that.
I broke down and bought a Nintendo Eshop Voucher, using part of if for Echoes of Wisdom ... only to find myself still grinding out Grindstone. That game never ends, I swear. The first 200 or so levels were fun but it is getting ... grindy. If only something had clued me in on that : l
While I would look forward to a Blops6 on the Switch, I actually would rather see a different collection released on it so it has its own playerbase. Something like a re-master of multiplayer Blops 1 & 2 or even just the zombie maps from them would be great! Or my dream: a re-master of the online Spec Ops co-op modes from the og Modern Warfares (ALL of them)! To be honest, there are going to be much better options (for many of us that own multiple consoles) to play Blops6 on rather than Switch, but a unique collection just for Switch (or Switch 2) would incentivize players to play on it rather than the other more powerful consoles/pc.
The older I get, the faster these moments sneak up on me. Sadly, the glory days of Wii U Call of Duty had already ended, but I will truly miss the pleasant CoD experience with fun and kind people back in the day. It was fun, and there are just too few experiences to replace it nowadays.
This was a 10/10, easy. I know that not everyone was excited by this direct, but considering it was mostly hope that something interesting would come out to see what actually did is astonishing. Pocket Jockey, Suika dlc/multiplayer (!), Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2, & Endless Ocean are all games I have just bought today or will be buying by launch.
I read this article and all I took from it was Pushmo, Pushmo, Pushmo, Pushmo, Pushmo, Pushmo, and Pushmo. Even if it is never mentioned directly we can all read between the lines, right? ; )
No multiplayer? No improvements? This is as bare bones a release as you can get. Rockstar/2K are basically investing the minimum in it, so I hope they get the minimum in return.
Ironically, I would love to see Nintendo "splash the cash" to MS/Activision and get a unique release of Black Ops Zombies maps that is Nintendo exclusive. The other consoles got the BlOps3 Zombie Chronicles, so something like that gathering the Black Ops 1-3 (4?) Zombie maps into one collection would be great. While that is clearly not the same as a new Day One Call of Duty release it would be fun and potentially draw non-Switch players into the Nintendo ecosystem. I'm sure to do so, though, Nintendo would need to compensate MS for the exclusivity.
I never played on the Wii - I missed all the gaming between PS1 and the Xbox 360 - but I did play both games on the Wii U, and enjoyed them quite a bit. Nintendo online gamers were generally much more patient and less tryhard than those on the other consoles. I'd certainly play on the Switch, particularly if MS/Activision released a complete Zombies Chronicles with online matchmaking, or (gasp) Share Play so I could play with my sons on their Switches. That would be truly epic for this old dad.
We'll never get it, but a Black Ops I & II Remastered - with some multiplayer options, even if not all of the original offering - would sell pretty well as a Switch-only title.
While Nintendo may be onto something by not pricing their first party titles in some kind of "race to the bottom" it is very disheartening to read posters claiming all these games are garbage. While the QubicGames backcatalogue may not entirely be my flavor (which publisher IS?) these games represent somebody's honest effort to entertain and to say they are trash says far more about the commenter than it does the publisher & games.
Has no one mentioned the Wii U game discs and their luscious curved edges??? Truly revolutionary and well worth the cost of the console.
Jest aside, I still have my Day One Wii U (in white, natch) hooked up and still buy games for it on the VC and on disc. Some of my best gaming memories PERIOD were on the Wii U, whether local multiplayer (like Nintendo Land and that one killer mode in Zombi U!) or online (the best CoD communities have always been on Nintendo) or just surfing the Miiverse. Good times for this 37-years-old-at-launch gamer. And now I feel really old ...
When Twilight Princess HD on Switch is announced later you can thank me for buying it on the Wii U eShop last night after giving up all hope. And if it does? I'll buy it again!
I'm not too sure we'd ever be getting full new releases, but I could see them putting together some re-releases that are Switch-only (which would be good for both Activision and Nintendo) like the old MW or Black Ops series. Or releasing the BO3-spin off Zombie Chronicles on Switch. Probably will just be CoD Mobile, sadly. But I'd love any with some co-op/competitive multiplayer functionality. Some of my best multiplayer memories are Call of Duty on Wii U.
The actual puzzle solving was mediocre, the style is fantastic, and the ending is crap. 1 out of 3 merits about 3 hours of effort, which is how long it takes to complete the game. It's off my backlog now, so that is something. I guess. The game left me quite "meh".
I don't actually care what they show. I feel so jaded about other publishers' releases and what passes for "good" that ANYTHING Nintendo shows will excite me. Would Zelda be wonderful? Yes, but I'm not going to let my hope get the better of me.
Wow. The Ae fanboy I am cannot help but wonder what a game score would have sounded like from that early 00's-era Autechre. Perhaps later entries would have been all-Skam Records events ; )
Those Shin'en games are still the bomb. I replayed Nano Assault Neo some last week and it still looks and plays fantastic. And I think I've owned Art of Balance on 3 different devices!
I started playing NES Remix on my Wii U for old times' sake. I had forgotten how much fun it is! And Super Animal Royale as well. It is silly addictive shooting.
It is a great arcade/score-chasing builder game. Having sunk dozens of hours into the PC version, I'll be happy to buy it on Switch and play it on the go.
Knight Squad 2 comes out tomorrow and Nintendo decides to share an Indie World Showcase video. Coincidence? I think not. Knight Squad 2 is just that good. (I'm not joking, it is gonna be awesome and stupendous) (both the video and Knight Squad 2)

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Feel About 24 Racers In Mario Kart 9?
I'll come in last whether 12 or 24 online players. Death, taxes ... me losing to everyone else. As inevitable as Metroid Prime 4 being delayed.

@cosmograph @theghostofkeithmoon
Excellent taste, both. RDJ has been derailing my musical tastes for 30+ years now. Listening to SAW 2 as I read this!
Re: It's Official, 'Switch 2' Will Be Backwards Compatible
Hmm. I kept my Wii U because there was no backwards compability with Switch. I guess my Animal Crossing Switch can get traded in???
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Mario & Luigi: Brothership?
I picked up a Switch game voucher just to use half of it on Brothership.
Re: 'Nintendo Music' Is A New Mobile App Exclusive To Switch Online Members
I would pay the entire NSO cost just to get this, even without any games!

I'd settle for a Zelda game where everything is made out of candy & pastries. Kinda like Yoshi's Wooly World but called Link's Lollipop Infinity ...

I'm down, but I hope it doesn't max out on the Switch "tax". $59.99 US for this game would be a most unfortunate price.
