If you haven't played it yet: don't sleep on 80 Days. It is a fantastic game that has tremendous depth and replayability. It might be older but it is incredibly and sublimely good; it quite stands the test of time and there are precious few games out there that have played similarly, and none that have done it as well.
Cannot wait. Radiangames' Xbox (XBLIG) titles were some of the most polished and fun games on their indie market. If only ports of these were available ... I'd love to play JoyJoy on a new console.
I just started playing Citizens of Earth on my Wii U (several years after acquiring it, sadly) and it is so much fun. Light, humorous, and phenomenally silly ... if Citizens of Space is even half as entertaining as its previous title it will be well worth it. And it sounds like it is!
I wonder how many subscriptions are due to their alliance with Amazon/Twitch Prime. They gave away 3 months (with the possibility of 9 more free months later) to all subs ... how do they compute those free subscriptions into their formula? And why did they give it away if it is successful on its own? That seemed unusual vs normal Nintendo procedures.
Very little for me this weekend on the Switch; evidently my youngest has totally fallen for Undertale and has asked to play it for all of his waking hours. Jest aside: Dirt Rally 2.0 awaits!
A Donkey Kong rhythm game would be awesome, something akin to Tadpole Treble (remember, it got a 9/10 review here!) but featuring a DK story line with similarly memorable and catchy tunes to work through. Or: a Mario 2D combat game! Think Runbow but with Mario characters, set in the Mushroom Kingdom, and not limited to the basic color palette concept that Runbow excelled within. The possibilities are endless, but I hope that if these dream combos do get together, the end result isn't simply a pastiche of both groupings but rather a developed and unique property in the end. THAT is what made the Mario vs Rabbids game so good: it stands alone as neither yet both.
I celebrated by picking up NSMBUD today and playing some Super Mario Party while waiting for the download! Now everyone in the family hates each other. Well done Mar10! ; )
@CorruptPhoenix While you do get a $5 off coupon toward select games (2K catalog) none of the Nintendo Switch games are eligible for the 10% discount. It notes this when you select one and load up your Cart. Or: at least the Cart tells me this with every Switch game I've selected.
Well, as I was leaning to buying NSMBUD (or whatever acronym it has been given!) yesterday at full price I'll just hold off til the 10th to get it discounted. Do we know if Nintendo's Game Store will be offering the same discount, or only through those selected retailers?
Ape Out you daddie-os. Then a quick blast at the #DiscoverIndies hashtag to see what else my fellow Nindie hepcats are playing ... followed by some Party Golf.
Tetris99, Apex Legends, and Party Golf ... a couch competitive multiplayer game I somehow managed to overlook the last 18 months. It looks stupendously good.
I got Super Smash Ultimate for the kids for Christmas, so I assume we'll be playing LOADS of that, alongside the usual Fortnite grind. I'll also be jumping back into my Wii U for a few Kirby games and Nintendo Land. That game is still $$$ with family : )
Well, if we can't have the Dirt, Grid, WRC, Project Cars or Onrush series this will do. I would have liked to see Onrush, though. I think it would have found a good home here that it didn't on the Xbox and PS4.
Fortnite, Splatoon 2, and Enter the Gungeon (which is on sale at the incredibly low feel-like-I-am-stealing-it price of $7.50). With those on tap, who needs an Xbox or PS4?
Seems harsh to call it vaporware, even if that is perhaps the case for the Switch version. Redout has had significant updates and DLC for PC. Better a game be good and delayed than bad and already here, right?
It's a very fun arcade game. I sank about 10 hours into it on PS4/Vita and still didn't finish all of the Remixes. And curse that Strawberry Remix ... it is very tough to get a Platinum medal on.
This game is loads of demented fun. The blocks may be blocky and the puzzles pixelated but the vibe is definitely cheesy 80's slasher films. Just beware some of the puzzles are TOUGH.
Man, the tepid disappointment about these games in this comment section ... which is quite a pity, as several are outstanding: Death Squared, Semispheres, GEM, Thumper, just to name a few I've played. All are unique and fun experiences well worth the price here. Too bad many just focus on the amount of the discount rather than the quality of the game : (
If they could have worked this into a full game, I would have bought it. I feel safe in assuming several dozen thousand other people - if not more - would too if it got an official Nintendo release.
Who cares what it looks like? If it is a good turn-based tactics game - it does already appear to have a decent sense of style and identity - it will be fun to play. Too many people worry about the appearance of the game over the content. The dev has made several other entertaining games like Factotum (on the Wii U) so I expect this one will be similarly well-executed and quirky.
Letter Quest Remastered was a much more fun game, as combat engagements in Spellspire are timed. Where I loved Letter Quest I find Spellspire frustrating and entirely grindy. The letter selection per combat doesn't change and you will need high level outfits, wands, and hats to progress to the end (as well as some quick thinking). They are both, at heart, spelling combat games ... but vastly different simply due to the speed of thought required in this one.
WRC 5 wasn't a bad game by any stretch, and WRC 6 made some additional improvements that made it a pretty good one. I'd buy WRC 7 on the Switch just to play it on the go! But if they plan to I'd like an announcement BEFORE it releases on other consoles/PC.
Crud. This was a game I have had pegged for a release day buy. But if it is delayed for 8 months (possibly more) perhaps it is easier to just grab it on Steam ... where it is discounted pretty regularly.
I'm entertained by all the speculation, and all I really have to add is this: I am so jazzed for both tomorrow and the release day. I've enjoyed my Xbox One and PS4 (and even Vita) but I've loved my Wii U. And I cannot wait for its "replacement". : )
@jamesRainbowBoy Oh, I don't doubt the online capabilities of the Switch - Nintendo may be unique but they aren't fools! - merely that I do not suppose that the Switch will carry the same online social gaming focus that other consoles do (such as Twitch/game streaming and social interactions). The teaser seemed to instead focus exclusively on local multiplayer. That isn't a bad thing, merely not what I (and many other gamers) use a console for mostly.
The reveal is definitely exciting and gives us some concrete evidence of the NX concept, but there are still many more questions than answers. I was hoping that Nintendo would prioritize the "online social" capabilities of the NX/Switch and while it is still early days I fear that may not be the case based upon the evidence of the portability of the gaming screen/unit. I doubt a pick up-and-go play console like Switch will have Twitch or game-streaming integration, as if it did a large portion of that would be useless when moving out of the range of home wi-fi. Perhaps they will surprise us, but also somewhat alarming was the fact that ALL of the gaming occurring in the teaser was either single player or local multiplayer - not online. I appreciate Nintendo's efforts and instincts toward local multiplayer, but that is simply not the primary focus of the modern console/PC gamer.
Codies! Perhaps Dirt Rally will make its way to the Switch, so I can yell out epithets in frustration during my daily commute. Seriously though, I will withhold getting overly excited until we see what this list actually produces in terms of games. The presence of Skyrim on the teaser video bodes well for some heavy hitters popping up, though.
I think a Nintendo version of 1080 Snowboarding AND Wave Race together - a type of Nintendo X Games combination! - would be simply incredible if made in full HD. SSX hasn't been around for a few years and the boat racing series on major consoles (Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Riptide GP 2 and Renegade) have been pretty bare bones; this is a real opportunity for Nintendo to make a major impression on an alternative sports games market. I guess Ubisoft's Steep would partially overlap, but it would still be awesome to see.
If they would keep releasing Wii games for Wii U - albeit at a better clip! - it would go a long way to keeping playing on them til the NX comes out. Instead they let them trickle out ...
Now if only one of those updates had included in-game chat. : (
And no, the game didn't strictly "need" it, but it would have helped keep some people in it longer, and could well have fostered a few new friendships and communities. Isn't that part of what Nintendo is all about?
