NintendoLife a day late as always with the news. Of course Nintendo would say the DLC is "must have".
“Mr. Sakurai and his team and everyone that works on the game – we love surprises. Just like Piranha Plant, we believe the DLC is going to be a must-have. For me, as a fan… oh man, I would not miss these for the world.”
@Matthew010 It doesn't even have a release date like many of the others listed above, NintendoLife don't care though, they want money. Some of the few that we do have a date for, aren't out until February 15th. I've seen at least 3 ads on this site today.
@NintendOrc It does, but NintendoLife doesn't make commission off telling people this. There are much cheaper alternatives available rather than buying one with Switch written on the box.
If you're not going to post the charts in full then don't bother with this sliver of information. Also:
"One million physical game sales generated another £32.6 million last week"
"FIFA 19 is still leading the charge in first place; sales are down by 39% week-on-week"
"with sales for the two games now tracking higher than what Pokémon X and Y achieved after their first three weeks on sale. Considering the 3DS had a larger install base when those games were released"
Where, pray tell, did you get this information? You didn't lick it off the street. Did you work it out? No, it came from here:
"over one million physical games were sold in the UK last week generating £32.6 million."
"FIFA 19 retains No.1, with a 39 per cent drop in sales week-on-week."
"Three weeks in, and Let's Go is now tracking eight per cent ahead of X and Y. Note: Pokémon X and Y was released a year later in the 3DS' lifecycle, so the install base was higher."
This site is no better than Filip Miucin, did you even acknowledge where you got your information from? Of course you didn't. Disgraceful! I hope this opens some peoples eyes. There's a word for this, Filip can tell you what it is. And if this site tries to edit the story later, it doesn't change the fact of what you did.
Tabloid style headline. How much of that total does Switch account for? 5%? If even, it's likely much lower. I think a lot of Switch owners out of curiosity downloaded it to see how it looks and performs. I'd say a small percentage actually actively play it on Switch, I know I don't. You need good online and you can't get that most of the time when you're out and about, also using the Joy-Cons is like having little pieces of faeces in your hands. And if you're at home, you may as well play it on a decent system. Let's see Epic or Nintendo give us figures for how many people actively play it on Switch.
This site has no shame whatsoever. Sticking in an ad as usual, trying to make commission on a sale. It's not even a great price, Base and Thegamecollection are selling both versions for £40 each, but maybe they won't pay you for any commission on a sale. So you're looking out for yourselves, rather than informing fans of the best price.
I'm also not surprised by the score. You're as good as on Nintendo's payroll nowadays.
Define good? Why don't they give us concrete figures? It's rhetorical, I know why. It's better for them to spin it as "We think Nintendo Switch Online had a good launch." Others would say differently I bet if Nintendo gave us the numbers. And the service as it currently stands is dog excrement. I'm not paying for it until it improves drastically.
@aznable Agreed. The Switch has some amazing games but let's no fool ourselves, the vast majority of that 1,300 figure is made up of shovelware. And a lot of the other good games are old, overpriced ports.
@thesilverbrick Did you not read the story? NL are just copying other sites that posted this story yesterday, they're late as usual. I guess that it's still selling somewhat, and that it's passed another million milestone is interesting. People think the Switch is doing well, and it is to a degree. But the Wii is a whole other level, another stratosphere really. It has games that will still have sold more than the Switch will have sold hardware at the end of its cycle. Like, MK8, can anyone honestly see it surpass MK Wii in terms of sales? Not a chance.
@electrolite77 See, you've misread it. It says that 50% of the subscribers have purchased the annual plan, as opposed to all the other plans. Not that 50% of the userbase have purchased Nintendo Switch Online. That figure could be anything, I'm betting it's low, otherwise Nintendo would be bragging. I hate when companies don't give full facts and figures.
What a crock of $***! 50% of what? Nintendo forever with smoke and mirrors tactics. Why don't they tell us something useful like how many people have bought a plan?
@westman98 No, their target is to sell 20 million for the full fiscal year. They've only sold 5 million for the first 6 months but expect to x3 that for the last 6 months. I don't think it's possible. Sure they've the Christmas period to come but they also have the January Blues through to March.
So what? The Switch should be compared to other handhelds, not consoles. Switch has had poor sales for the first half of the year, 5 million. How they expect to sell 15 million for the remainder of the year and reach their target of 20 million, I'm not sure. I very much doubt that's going to happen.
Any chance this site could do its job properly and post the Top 40 like other sites do? Or how about doing some research and noticing the fact that Starlink and Dark Souls have disappeared from the charts completely after only 1 week? It's pee poor journalism. Going further, about half the games in the charts aren't on Switch. It's crap like this that reaffirms why I don't come to this site that often.
Thanks as ever for yesterdays news. No physical, no buy. It's ridiculous, the Vita got a physical version.
Nintendo have botched this generation, thanks to these expensive, limited capacity cartridges. Some companies like in this instance won't make a physical version, others have a sizeable additional digital download on top of the cartridge(ruining the boxart with those disgusting white banners), and then others announce a physical version months, sometimes a year after it's already released digitally(e.g Yooka-Laylee). And then there's other companies that won't bring their game at all to Switch because it's too big, as we heard with Elder Scrolls Online(it's about 75GB in size, though with Switch's weak specs they could probably reduce that somewhat) in the past week.
Square Enix are crazy if they think it's acceptable to charge $40 for a digital copy of an old game. We need to send them a message that it's not.
