It's almost the moment we've all been waiting for, as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate lands on the Nintendo Switch later this week - the 7th of December to be precise.
Aside from the Switch console and the game itself, there are many other optional extras which might enhance your Smash Ultimate experience. We've listed them all here for you in this handy guide.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Nintendo Switch Console Bundle
If you don't already own a Nintendo Switch console, this is the perfect time to pick one up! This lovely bundle comes with a copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Smash-themed Joy-Con and Dock.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - The Game
If you just want a copy of the game, here are some options for you.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Controllers
You're never going to be a true Smash Bros. player until you pick up a replica GameCube controller, let's face it! There are so many to choose from and you can even get a Smash themed Pro Controller, too.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - LAN Adaptor
During the recent Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct, game director Masahiro Sakurai slipped in a few remarks about online play that might be taken as an admission Nintendo knows its online infrastructure is not great. Basically, Sakurai-san has recommended using a LAN Adaptor to ensure a buttery smooth Internet connection if you want to enjoy the ultimate online Smash experience.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo
It might have been a while since you picked up any amiibo figures, but the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the perfect time to get back into it. Here are the new ones released to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Which Super Smash Bros. Ultimate goodies are you getting on day one?

Do I need a Pichu amiibo?
This site has no shame.
@NintendOrc It does, but NintendoLife doesn't make commission off telling people this. There are much cheaper alternatives available rather than buying one with Switch written on the box.
@NintendOrc yes, any old lan/usb adapter will work. No point in spending 2 or 3 times what you should for the "official" one
One thing you guys missed is the Official strategy guide if anyone is into those. The hardback collectors edition is 40% off on Amazon
I'm having a bunch of friends over the day after the game launches for a party/tourney. I've got a Pro Controller and 2 sets of joycons, but I know for a fact SOMEONE is going to be a purist, and insist on Gamecube controllers, so I went ahead and got the Hori controller with the Triforce on it, just to be safe. 4 controllers is the proper amount of controllers to own, I think.
And to be fair, I was probably going to buy one anyway, so if the affiliate links net the website that I frequent a tiny little percentage of that money to help support it, then it's a win/win as far as I'm concerned.
What's the advantage if pay up on those scalper prices @AmazonLife?
Look into my pants and see where my LAN Adapter is connected to......
@Matthew010 It doesn't even have a release date like many of the others listed above, NintendoLife don't care though, they want money. Some of the few that we do have a date for, aren't out until February 15th. I've seen at least 3 ads on this site today.
Why about any of the collectors editions? I was looking for the game plus pro controller bundle but I have a feeling it's only for the guys in the US. Only one I've seen in the UK is the one with the cube pad and adaptor. Cancelled mine in favour or the standcalone game with steel book. I wouldnt use a cube pad anyway, id still be sheet eitherway.
I have the game, the 8BitDo GameCube adapter, and the Inkling, Wolf, and Ridley amiibo preordered. Not sure if I'll ever get the LAN adapter mainly because I usually play in handheld mode. Or I'm not close enough to my router.
@TheGhostWhoWalks
Oh, really? I thought all the amiibo had release dates? But anyway, for a site like this, affiliate links are the only way the site stays afloat, bar ad revenue for the YouTube content. Ads are a major part of websites now, like it or now.
A local Walmart has the official Hori LAN adapters on clearance. They were about $9, if I recall. (Which I thought was odd, but then again, this is Walmart we're talking about. This same store's employees told me they weren't going to sell Nintendo's eShop cards anymore when I couldn't find them.) lol
@NybroCymerej What are you even saying? I can't tell if you're making a genital joke or trying to insult.
@HobbitGamer He made a similar comment on the Bendy review. It made no sense that time, either.
All these alternative controllers are great but where’s the rumble? Think I’ll grab some old original GCN controllers instead.
Ps Nintendo I can’t buy new controllers each time you release a new game... NES Online, Pokemon and now Smash Bros...
I’ve preordered the collector’s edition game guide, all the upcoming amiibo, the game itself, the Pro Controller, and the GameCube controller and adapter.
In the immortal words of SpongeBob: ”I’m ready!”
I've pre-ordered it digitally. Good thing I can still use my Wii U GameCube adapter for my controllers! Sadly I won't be able to play it much due to uni deadlines. I've got a major deadline on the 9th! It's for a C# application, I'm so behind on it... and then got 2 more deadlines the upcoming week!
Or you could buy in Tesco as console is £250 and game is £48
Thnx NINTENDOLIFE!
Managed to get my friend in the UK to buy me the Steelbook edition so I can complete the EU “Limited EDT” with it (live in Sweden and we don’t get it and Nintendo UK won’t ship outside)
Steelbook, GC controller and the Adapter, that’s how the package should’ve been like from the beginning. Well now I made it myself instead

@TheGhostWhoWalks I know right? How dare they give us links to where we can buy things we might want? So shameless! Next they'll start reviewing products and making suggestions! The utter horror!
@TheGhostWhoWalks also check out the ugreen usb 3.0 on amazon its a 10/100/1000 and while people will say oh it wont make a difference i can prove that while doing speed test ten times with each my speeds were 21% faster with the ugreen over the officially licensed hori one.

edit added link to ugreen unit.
