Re: Review: Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe - A Suitably Dreamy Encore For One Of Kirby's Best

TheBigBlue

Played the original on Wii U for a few months until one of the people I had over to play games with raged at dying in Super Mario 3D World and they smashed the game pad screen. I have missed that game for a while now, but I don’t think I will pick it up, since I have played through it before. Kirby And The Amazing Mirror is a game I also had and loved on the Wii U, and that game is coming to the switch soon, so huzzah! That will be my replacement. For anyone who is willing to try this game, just give it a go, don’t hesitate! This is a game anyone can pick up and play, and it’s great fun too! Controls were always simple, even back in the Wii days. Playing with a couple friends makes this game so much more fun, because you can horse around and plow through hordes of enemies and fun, decently challenging bosses. This game gets a recommendation from me. Go play it soon!

Re: Super Mario Bros. Movie Nintendo Direct Announced For 9th March, Will Debut 'Final Trailer'

TheBigBlue

I find it hilarious how Nintendo has just been calling Directs out of thin air just for a single movie trailer and the likes of Chris Pratt saying STOMPING….KOOPAS. They’re giving half the fan base a heart attack by announcing these directs because people are so gullible and will think “holy cow, another one! Omg, I want a new donkey kong game, Zelda ports, blah blah blah”. But nope, it’s just a movie trailer lads. Seeing the looks on these people’s faces is priceless too!

Re: Best Star Fox Games Of All Time

TheBigBlue

@piecez I personally don’t think it’s too late for Nintendo to hand the franchise’s next potential entry off to someone who knows a lot about the franchise’s history and how a new entry would work. Look at Mercury Steam. 2D metroid was dead for 15 years. Then Mercury did the Metroid II remake. It was pretty good, but since they were slightly building upon a already finished game from 28 years ago at that point, so they were more limited as to what they could add to it. When they were approached about Metroid Dread, they felt they could do so much more because of their understanding of what made the franchise so special. They also gave it a nice little upgrade so it felt more smooth and modern. If Star Fox was given to a veteran or even new, upcoming dev company, I feel there would be a chance for one of those companies to make some SF magic again.

Re: Pokémon Presents Showcase Announced For Next Week

TheBigBlue

I’ll watch. I expect support for the current Pokémon games and the mobile ones like Masters and Unite. I also suspect the game boy Pokémon entries will return, but I am far less hopeful about the GBA Pokémon games returning. I wish they would, but alas.

Re: Talking Point: What Will Be Announced On Pokémon Day 2023?

TheBigBlue

Realistically speaking, I believe in a 20 minute Presents, there will be the patch for s/v, more unite license Pokémon for Unite, maybe even some stuff about the Pokémon Anime moving forward, because Ash is no longer in the anime, they finally retired him. As for NSO, I believe there is more potential for Pokémon games to be added than just simply red, blue, and yellow. Of course, it will probably be just announcements for those three games, anyway. They could still add Gold, Silver, Crystal, Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. But I don’t expect them to. So I like this article, NL. Keeping expectations in check and staying in touch with reality (maybe you’ll finally get your Pokémon sleep haha!)

Re: Miyamoto: Nintendo Is "Always" Working On Mario, But Isn't Ready For The Next Game Reveal Just Yet

TheBigBlue

@Classic603 I was actually referring to more recent IGN articles where they not so subtly ask (beg) for a new mainline Mario, like in their “what to expect from Nintendo in 2023.” Making predictions is fine and all, but don’t word it in a way that sounds so…desperate. They say things like this about Metroid Prime 4 too. “Surely there will be a new mainline Mario this year, right Nintendo?” wink wink nudge nudge

Re: UK Charts: Splatoon 3 Makes A Surprise Comeback, Climbing Six Spots

TheBigBlue

@Grumblevolcano I mean, the original Wii Sports only had six sports as well. It’s sequel, Resort, had double that. But that game was also just to help market the Wii Motion Plus. I think switch sports was aiming more for Wii Sports than its sequel in it’s simplicity and charm. It mixes older wii sports with new ones. With the addition of golf, there is 7 sports. Personally, as a game, I think Switch Sports had a pretty good end result.

Re: Lego Issues Copyright Strikes On Legend Of Zelda Deku Tree Set Videos

TheBigBlue

Lego and Nintendo are just gonna have a social media field day taking all these twitter, youtube, and Reddit leaks down. Also Nintendo Prime, how have you made a tweet seem like one of your click bait videos? Is that even possible? I can see it: “Lego COPYSTRIKES my video! NEW Zelda Lego set CONFIRMED?!” Nothing against Ninty here, but I’m a little surprised!

Re: Miyamoto: "Other IPs" Like Splatoon Were Considered For Super Nintendo World

TheBigBlue

That is a fair argument to make. More people know what a Mii is than a “Metroid”. Imo, I don’t think it’s just about the game sales for a theme park. They could throw anything in there. They could throw in a giant statue of Mr. Game And Watch for all they care. I think it’s about their storied history. Nintendo has been in one of the top video game spots for almost 50 years. They don’t have to limit their attractions to just top selling franchises. Pikmin sales aren’t great, they never have been, but Miyamoto is fond of them; he created the franchise. So he placed little pikmin all over the theme park. They’ve already announced Donkey Kong is getting his own little themed section of Nintendo World. They will definitely add more franchises. Miyamoto also created The Legend Of Zelda. I think that’s next. And who knows? Nintendo’s backlog of franchises is HUGE. They could add lots of little references and nods to their smaller franchises like the Pikmin in Nintendo World, even if they don’t necessarily get their own section of the theme park.

Re: Miyamoto: "Other IPs" Like Splatoon Were Considered For Super Nintendo World

TheBigBlue

Why do I feel Nintendo wants to go in order for adding their top franchises to Nintendo World? You know the character selection in Smash Ultimate? It goes Mario first, then Donkey Kong, then Link, then Samus, etc. Call me crazy, but Zelda is easily Nintendo’s second biggest franchise. And Metroid has seen a renaissance on the switch recently. They will possibly add the biggest franchises first, with little cameos from their smaller franchises here and there like the little Pikmin you see there already.

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Switch Sports Tops 1 Million Physical Sales

TheBigBlue

I agree with Attitude here. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Software sales matter as well as console sales. If both aspects for the switch are doing quite well for a six year old console, why bother with a successor? The wii u was quickly replaced with the switch after a measly 5 years because sales were garbage. The likes of the Wii and DS were different. DS sold like crazy in most aspects, leading to it being the top selling Nintendo console of all time. Lasted 8 years 2004-2012. Games were still being developed for it even with the 3ds in play. The Wii was also a top seller for a long time. Wii sports sold 80+ million alone. The Wii sold 100+ million. Was around for a little over six years. Games were being made for the Wii until 2020, thanks to the JustDance franchise. Now, if the switch is more successful than the wii, and almost as successful as the DS, don’t expect another console for at least another two years.

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Switch Sports Tops 1 Million Physical Sales

TheBigBlue

It’s great that switch sports has finally achieved the sacred 1 mil sales. And I’m not surprised at all. That game screams ‘play with the whole family’. It’s interesting however. If this game was bundled with the switch and released years earlier, would its sales rival that of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe? Because Mario kart is usually shipped with the switch these days.

Re: Video: Star Fox Dev Gets Nostalgic Ahead Of SNES Game's 30th Anniversary

TheBigBlue

It’s nice to know Nintendo is aware of these franchises like Star Fox and F-Zero, even if they don’t receive new entries. We have quite a few games from both franchises on the Switch’s Online + Expansion service. We have Star Fox snes, which is actually a very interesting game. We have the supposedly canned Star Fox 2, which was for the snes originally, but only just came to recent consoles in 2017. We have Star Fox 64, which is a great game, I still have to complete it though. And F-zero has the snes entry and F-zero X for the n64. F-zero maximum velocity is also coming to the gba service at some point too! So we still have all these classics from these older franchises to play on the switch, which I think is pretty cool.

Re: Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe Gets A Seven-Minute Overview Trailer

TheBigBlue

We need a 3ds Kirby game while we are hot on the trail of remakes. What I wouldn’t give to see either Kirby Triple Deluxe, or better yet, Kirby Planet Robobot make their grand return! Kirby planet Robobot is so fun, Meta Knight has his own little sub-mode, and it has the best final boss fight in the whole series. Yes, even better than return to dreamland’s or even Marx.

Re: Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe Gets A Seven-Minute Overview Trailer

TheBigBlue

Ah, I remember playing this on the Wii U. Only had it for a few months before the system broke. It was tragic. Nice to see such an underrated wii gem return here. I’m sure many have played, because there were a ton of wii owners, but if you haven’t, play it! If you have, play it again! Age doesn’t matter, this game is the start of the more modern Kirby formula like Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot take after. And awesome boss fights? Yeah, I won’t spoil anything for you.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Console Has The Best First-Party Games Lineup?

TheBigBlue

For me, it’s a pretty tight race between snes, GameCube, and switch. But don’t count out the Wii! Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Strikers charged, Mario Party 8 and 9, Mario Kart Wii, the legendary Wii Sports and Sports Resort, Xenoblade Chronicles, and I guess Twilight Princess is kinda cheating, but even that aside, we have Skyward Sword. Pokémon Battle Revolution, and the lustrous Metroid Prime Trilogy. Or you could just say Prime 3: Corruption instead. I’ll throw in Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, and we have the motherload. Not bad, for an “underpowered console”, eh? There are a fair amount of New Play Control GameCube ports, like Pikmin, but for fairness, I will exclude those.

Re: Nintendo Download: 16th February (North America)

TheBigBlue

Thanks again! I was only using those two franchises as examples, but I didn’t actually know Dragon Quest had it’s own theatrhythm-like! Japan only though is a little sad. But yeah, I figured the dlc would add the likes of other franchises like Mana and Nier, I just didn’t know which ones.

Re: Feature: 19 Game Boy Games We'd Love To See On Nintendo Switch Online

TheBigBlue

Like the N64 service, Nintendo will probably announce more games coming to each Game Boy service, so I will put down a few that haven’t been announced yet. I think Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, that random Kid Icarus game boy sequel, and of course, all the Pokémon games. I have all the other ones, except the game boy Pokémon’s. Gotta Want Them All!
