Re: ICYMI: Switch 2 'GameCube Controller Adapter' Compatibility Confirmed

Susurrus

@GravyThief They rebranded and reissued it for Switch as well, targeting Smash Ultimate, but it's the exact same product but I think just has the Nintendo logo on the top. I'd imagine that's still around.

There's also used and third party markets around.

I kept my Wii U one though and used it for Smash Ultimate and Mario Sunshine.

Re: Talking Point: Is It Time For HD-2D To Take A Break?

Susurrus

Not so much for them getting the style, but I would like to see them release versions of older RPGs that never made their way outside Japan, such as Live A Live's situation. I'm not a huge emulator player, and it was nice to get this game. It was new to me. I'd absolutely pick up other classics that I never was able to play before, especially when it never was released.

Re: Talking Point: What Would Make You Happy To Give Up Physical Games And Go 100% Digital?

Susurrus

On Switch, I own physical for most games for a couple reasons:
A) storage limitations - unlike other platforms I don't have to worry about installs, minus patches DLC.
B) I can pop them in my kids' Switch Lites and they can play, even if no Internet is available, which is frequently the case as we travel a lot.

I heavy discount will get me digital anyway, especially if my kids wont ever play it. But it sure isn't the norm. On the other hand my kids both love Lego Worlds, so instead of buying one or two copies for $30 a piece, I just bought digitally it on both their accounts for $6 each on sale.

On PS5 I just follow the sales. Sometimes digital is cheaper (or free with Plus Essential), sometimes physical is.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Want To See Colourful Cartridges Return For 'Switch 2'?

Susurrus

@Dragonslacker1 I absolutely do. Don't need to take up precious storage space (unlike PlayStation and Xbox, they actually run off the game and don't install... usually), I can look for more deals and sell them when I'm done, and I can share them with my kids who each have their own Lite. I have some digital but mostly small indie ones or something I got on sale but those are the minority.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's GBA Library With Two RPG Classics Next Week

Susurrus

@BigBluePanda The GBA versions included both a password system and a transfer system, the later needing 2 GBAs and a link cable. If you had a link cable and access to a second GBA (or a GBPlayer), either you owned or through borrowing, you would just transfer. If not, you'd use the lengthy password system.

This sounds like it is somehow emulating transfer ability, but of course password is also built in.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy A Digital-Only 'Switch 2'?

Susurrus

Nope.
I buy mostly physical for 3 reasons:

  • low amount of internal storage space and only being able to expand via a microSD.
  • I can resell games I'm done with and on the rare occasion I've bought a used game as well, especially when the digital version never goes on sale.
  • Most importantly: we are a 2 Switch household, will probably be 3 at some point when my other kid gets a bit older. Physical games allow the game to be played on multiple Switches, and since we play primarily not at home, going online isn't always convenient.

I also use the library across the street from my house sometimes to try games to see if I want to buy them.

Re: Nintendo's American Branch Didn't Like The Idea Of GameCube Being Purple

Susurrus

I got the purple one on launch and used it till I replaced it with a launch Wii and used its BC. I loved how it was different than the normal boring black and stood out apart from my PS2 and XBox. I also had a purple GBA so they made a nice duo.

Other than the packed in controller, I also picked up the orange, black, and the half purple half transparent ones, and eventually a couple wavebirds.

I got rid of most of those over time, but now keep around the two Wavebirds, a white controller with the longer cord that I picked up in Japan, and then the one that came with SSB Wii U set with game and adapter which I still use on my Switch.

Re: Charles Martinet Wants To Voice Mario For As Long As He Possibly Can

Susurrus

Met Charles Martinet several years ago right before Odyssey came out at a meet and greet at Ramstein AB in Germany, he spent several hours signing things, taking pictures, and doing the voices for people and was energetic the whole time. Of course the store on base (AAFES) got a fresh batch of Switches back when they were still fairly hard to find, so I picked one up and got him to sign both that for me and the pipe base of my 8 bit Mario amiibo for my son, and a portrait they were handing out, got pictures. Was really cool. Dude has lots of energy, and really seems to love the job.

Re: Poll: So, Which Switch OLED Did You Buy?

Susurrus

I have an OLED Vita so I know how great an OLED screen can be, but I held off because I rarely play Switch handheld.

Heck the few opportunities I've had lately to play handheld I've been more catching up on 3DS and Vita backlog.

I rarely play handhelds outside of traveling since I have a TV at home and don't take public transportation, and traveling hasnt happened much thanks to COVID. I've taken a couple family trips, sticking in high vaccine/low spread areas, but since I won't put my kids on airplanes until they're vaccinated I've only done road trips, and guess who drives.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES Service With Three More Titles

Susurrus

A lot of hate on here, but I'm going to be the opposite.

I have never heard of these before, much less played them, but I like that. As much as I like to get familiar games, I also like trying out games I never played before. How many times am I going to play through SMW? It has been released countless times. Yet, these games I've never heard of is something different. I don't understand the crying, I feel like they're giving a good mix of mainstream games and largely unknown games.
