Re: Nintendo Download: 28th January (North America)

We really need more demos. A blanket list of a ton of what appears to be shovelware games I've never heard of every week just doesn't catch my interest. I'm sure there are gems in there, but how many people can be asked to research each and every individual one?

On the other hand, I've bought several games because of their demos.

Re: The Company Behind Control's Cloud Version Is Bringing More "Major" Titles To Switch

Susurrus

I'd like to try a demo just to see how it runs. I have 200mb internet and my switch is connected physically to my network when docked so I'd imagine pretty well.

That being said, as a multiplatform owner, the main reason to get multiplat games for the switch is portability. Obviously a cloud game wouldn't work on the go, so there's no reason for me to get the Switch version when I can play it locally in better quality.

I guess this type of thing is aimed at folks who only have a Switch though.

Re: Nintendo Has Removed Pikmin 3 From The Wii U eShop Ahead Of The Switch Release

From experience for doing it with Tropical Freeze (I played it after DKCR when I was burning my backlog), it was $60 on Switch, but Walmart had the digital code for $18 on Wii U so I followed the savings.

Digital codes still work and will be around for a bit.

Here's Walmart and Amazon links for digital codes for $20 for the Wii U version of Pikmin 3. I already own it but for those still wanting it...

Re: One Month Later, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Review-Bombing Is Only Getting Worse

I don't really understand the complaints with the one island per system. This has ALWAYS been the case, the only one you could argue it wasn't was Gamecube but that was only because it was based on memory cards so you swapped out memory cards if you wanted a different island. This shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone.

As a "second resident" I don't even feel that restricted. My wife is the primary resident and ya she decides more things, but I can still collect, donate, visit other islands, build my house, landscape and design the island. As far as I can tell the only thing my wife can do that I can't is decide where new buildings go. If you're in the same household you should be able to talk to each other anyway.

I will say the multiplayer simultaneous needs work, though. The fact that the followers can't access their own inventory, the tool wheel, or pick things up into their own inventory is dumb.

Re: Best Buy Lists Super Mario 3D World For Nintendo Switch, But We're Not So Sure

Susurrus

I haven't picked up any of the Wii U to Switch ports. Actually I played BotW on Wii U because I hadn't felt the need for a switch yet due to lack of new games that I already owned (yall remember the early port only times). Even after I got a Switch, I got Wii U Tropical Freeze digital via Walmart (was delisted but codes still worked) because it was less than $20 vs Switch version's $60.

That being said, if this game came out with online support and some other features I might pick it up on a sale. I did really enjoy it but the only thing I didn't get is the beat all levels with all characters since I didn't feel like playing through it 5 times.

Re: Nintendo Just Launched Two Special Fire Emblem Game Variants On Switch In Japan

I do wish there was a way to put the SP games in a separate folder or like sub it under the main game. It adds to the clutter. I throw them at the bottom for now.

And I have both because I changed my region, grabbed Famicom, then changed back. Then did the same thing for Super Famicom when it was released. Was pretty easy and now they're tied to my same account.

Worth asking, is Europe or anywhere else worth swapping to to grab or is it same as US?

Re: Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes Is Being Ported To The PlayStation 4 And PC

I picked this up on preorder after finishing NMH 1 & 2 really not too long ago. I didn't start it until recently because I am moving and know I won't have a TV for a while, so I figured it'd be an excellent opportunity to use the portability of my Switch. I did start it on my TV before my movers came, but now it is all handheld/tabletop for a while, minus possibly hooking it up to hotel TVs (kept the cradle). Ironically, I haven't finished the first level because I've been busy with packing and cleaning, but I have enjoyed what I played so far. Makes me want NMH3, though.

Glad more people will be able to enjoy it, but I think since Wii is a couple generations back and was kind of a hidden gem, a lot of people won't be turned onto it since they wouldn't know the main game. I think it'd be real neat if they made a current gen port/remake for the same platforms that have TSA.

Re: Random: Switch Box Art Download Warning Receives A Makeover

Susurrus

Old one was better. Uglier? Sure. But it needs to be large and annoying so customers know they can't just pop it in and play. Plus it kind of craps on the publishers that do it. Imagine being on a trip or moving or something which is why you don't have internet or a TV (so you use a Switch), going and buying a game, and then realizing you can't play it.

I don't understand why you would buy a physical game if you gotta download it anyway, doesn't it defeat the purpose?

Also how big is This War of Mine? I played it on my PS4, it doesn't take much space on there iirc, why the download?

Re: PQube Drops PS Vita Support To Focus On Switch Development

Susurrus

Makes sense, even Sony abandoned the Vita. They are ending ps plus releases in March. The releases are slow and very niche. I enjoy both my Vita and PSTV and will keep them around for a while but I do wish there was more support. My PSTV is primarily a PS4 remote play machine to stream my PS4 to my bedroom and Vita keeps some usage when I fly (fairly frequently 3-12 hr flights).

That being said I also have a Switch that goes on those same flights, I might buy a 2nd dock but they are so pricey, maybe black Friday? If Switch got Netflix support that would be a solid push for a second dock since I otherwise only have a PS3 in that room to use Netflix I don't otherwise use.

Re: Hori's Mario And Zelda Themed D-Pad Joy-Con Limited To Handheld Mode Arrives Locally This September

Susurrus

I think a lot of y'all are missing the point. When the console is docked the Pro Controller already has a regular D-pad. If you want to play handheld the pro controller isn't an option, so if you still want a regular d-pad that is where this steps in. So someone playing a d-pad heavy game would use this in handheld and pro controller while docked.

I already do this (with the included joycons). My joycons rarely disconnect from the console. I just bust out my pro controller while docked.
