Tomorrow, the wait to travel through dreams is finally over. Bandai Namco's Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series launches on the Switch after a near-14-year wait for the cabbit's (cat rabbit? We won't stop trying to figure this out) return. And it looks like we're getting some lovely, nostalgic DLC which harkens back to Bandai Namco's history.
The official Japanese Klonoa collection Twitter account — called Encore Series — shared details of a brand new DLC pack (Thanks for the tip, Not_Soos!). This set includes three costumes for Klonoa — that he can wear in both Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil — which refer back to a few big Namco franchises.
The bundle hasn't been confirmed for the West yet, but we'll let you know as soon as it is!
In the meantime, let's have a little look at what costumes we'll be getting:
Klonoa already has one prominent Namco reference on him — a little Pac-Man on his cap — but how about an entire hat in the shape of Pac-Man, that goes over the cap? Okay. It's for the cuteness factor. We'll allow it. The other two costumes are equally hilarious: a Taiko no Tatsujin mask, and The Prince hat from Katamari.
The bundle is priced at 400 yen plus tax. You can check out all of the details on the costumes over on the official Japanese site right here. The bundle is also listed on the Singaporean Microsoft store under 'Bandai Namco Collaborative Outfit Set', so we have our fingers crossed!
We don't have much longer to wait for the Phantasy Reverie Series to drop, so why not enjoy this adorable little piece of art the Bandai Namco EU Twitter account shared earlier today:
Or you can check out the launch trailer for the game right here, and perhaps you'll consider joining us as a fellow Dream Traveller when the game drops tomorrow, 8th July.

Dang.... DLC on the remastered old games.
If just only cosmetic purpose, I can skip the DLC.
It's a shame there is dlc but oh well. I miss the old days where you would need to unlock these in the base game through fun challenges
I can't be the only one who loves how it looks like Pac-Man ate Klonoa, lol.
Hoping to check this one out. I was very late to the Klonoa party by playing one of the GBA games on Wii U's virtual console.
Well, who knows this can help make the series at least a little bit more popular because fans of those series may try it now?
Thanks but no thanks lol
@LXP8 So do I. Kinda makes me mad reading this tbh.
the taiko drum thingy looks pretty goofy but I love the katamari outfit 😍
@sneaky_sasquatch He looks possessed by the damn drum!😁
Katamari hats are cool but that just begs the question:
Where is We Love Katamari re-roll Namco
Klonoa? I haven't even klomet her!
Anything that p's me off more than paid DLC is paid DLC for remakes and re-releases of old games.
It's bad enough that this is retailing for AU$90 over here (with no-one offering anything less than the RRP). The least they could do is include this sort of content on the cartridge for those buying physically. I don't buy physical copies for a case to display or to inconvenience myself with inserting/removing physical cartridges. I actually want a tangible copy of the entirety of the game, if that's not too much to ask. And they have some cheek demanding $5 for content that looks like something that a newly enrolled design student threw together in half an hour.
Now I won't feel so bad waiting for a sale.
Just some quirky harmless fun, though I'm not much interested in paid cosmetic DLC for single player games. It helps if you think of it as a small show of appreciation to the Devs. Let the publisher know you liked the game and the series
The original Wii Klonoa game that this release is based on featured additional outfits for Klonoa after beating the game, some based on the original PS1 and PS2 games, and one based on Japanese festival garb.
It'll be nice if they include that too, but I doubt it since they've changed the character model to be faithful to the original game.
I didn't think Bandai Namco would add day 1 paid DLC for this genre and rerelease of this game though harmless. Would had been a great nice extra.
I’m a bit shocked this is paid DLC and not free. It should have at least been free for the first week or two to try and convince people to buy it.
July is gonna clean me out. This game, Doom physical, Xenoblade, and more!
Pretty lame that a collection of 2 older games would have DLC, let alone paid DLC. "But it's not necessary!" Then why did they make it? "But it's not important!" Then why are they charging money for it?
This is why, in general, I feel the practice of DLC does more harm than good. Post-launch patches that fix bugs or make adjustments? Wonderful. Nickel and dime DLC? Not so wonderful.
These feel like they should be unlockable.
@martynstuff Well done, sir. Well done.
Removed - disrespecting others
For those that are wondering what klonoa is, he’s actually a cat. He just has really long ears.
**Looking for my name in the article**
"There I am, Gary, there I am!"
Why are people mad? It’s literally cosmetics. Very basic cosmetics at that. It’s not like they are selling new levels. Don’t like it then don’t buy it that simple. You still get the full experience regardless.
It's roughly £3 for cosmetics... now, if those hats all did something, a special ability or new movement, I'd be more inclined.
What's really the issue here? It's preorder cosmetics.
@Arawn93 People have expressed why in the comments, assuming you read them fully. We're not so much 'mad' but more so unfulfilled, at the idea of cosmetic day 1 paid DLC for a remaster, but not so much that we can't shrug it off if we're not willing to pay for it. This kind of content would be included as extras for free if we lived a decade ago IMO. Like, can you imagine if out of the top of my head, the Nintendo themed skins in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U were day 1 paid DLC? They probably would be if released today.
@AlexanderDaniels
Yeah i feel like criticism can often be generalized in comments as people being "mad" or "whining" when more often than not people have given reasons why they aren't happy with whatever it is they are criticizing (this applies to many comment sections)
For example the fact this is dlc is somewhat annoying, the games eshop page/demo being added at launch was also, and the performance on the switch version is disappointing but i wouldn't say im "mad" or "angry" somewhat frustrated by the situation since these are amazing games but not actually mad.
