Gamescom Opening Night Live 2022 officially revealed Sonic Frontiers' release date as November 8th (though many of us had seen this coming thanks to a leak earlier in the day). Since this announcement, Sega has been moving fast to release new info about the game, including what we can expect to see in the different pre-order packages.
Spotted by Eurogamer, the pre-order bonuses differ depending on region, and those who are buying the game in Japan have the opportunity to get Sonic decked out in some clothing inspired by hugely popular hololive V-Tuber Inugami Korone.
This official collaboration stretches across many different Japanese stores, with each one offering a unique Korone bonus. The shoes and gloves will only be available to those purchasing Sonic Frontiers from a Joshin Denki retailer, while sound effect changes, mascot manipulation and original artwork are provided from Amazon Japan, Rakuten Books and Geo respectively.
Each of these products has been showcased in a post on the official Sonic Frontiers Japanese website, which also lists all other pre-order bonuses:
Unfortunately, the above Korone collaboration is exclusive to Japanese copies of the game from these retailers. However, this is not to suggest that you will miss out on plenty of pre-order bonuses, with both the Standard and Deluxe editions of the game coming with a long list of DLC.
The Deluxe version even boasts 'additional shoes and gloves for Sonic', though these are different from those outlined in the Korone DLC. For a full rundown of what you can expect to find in the two Sonic Frontiers pre-order packs, check out the list below:
Sonic Frontiers - Standard Edition + Pre-Order Bonus - £49.99
- Base Game (Physical or Digital)
- Adventurer's Treasure Box
- Skill Points
- Red Seeds of Power
- Blue Seeds of Defense
Sonic Frontiers - Digital Deluxe Edition + Pre-Order Bonus - £54.99
- Base Game (Digital Only)
- Explorer's Treasure Box
- Amy's Memory Tokens
- A Portal Gear
- Chaos Emerald Vault Keys
- Additional shoes and gloves for Sonic
- Digital Art Book with a 25-track Digital Mini Soundtrack
- Adventurer's Treasure Box
- Skill points
- Red Seeds of Power
- Blue Seeds of Defense
In more Sonic Frontiers news, we have just seen some gameplay from the Cyber Space stages at Gamescom which are packed full of references to previous Sonic stages. With the November 8th release date rapidly approaching, expect more news from the game to be coming in very soon.

That's cute, but please don't keep that exclusive! V-tubers have a bit of an audience internationally too.
I like how you have to pre-order the game from three different places to get all the DLC. Meanwhile, outside of Japan, anyone who wants a physical copy has to buy the game twice to get all the exclusive content from the Digital Deluxe Edition. Thank you SO much, SEGA, I hate it.
Not a V-tuber fan myself, but major props to a fellow sonic fan in these trying times. That saaaaaaid, can we therefore expect more aesthetic options in as DLC? That’d be pretty cool, Sega
I wish Sega didn't have this weird mandate that every single one of their releases needs to have a second "deluxe" edition. It's really really annoying.
VERY odd for sonic to do, they've never done something like this with any of their games before.
Not that I'm objecting at all, I think it's neat, just not something I'd expect to come out of this game.
Love this idea, hate that it's a Japan exclusive. Hopefully they make it available to other countries later own the line.
We're living in a simulation (which is quite fitting for the game now that I think about it).
Will probably wait until Christmas to play this one. Usually my folks get me a game or two for Christmas, so I tend to avoid buying games in November and December in event of that. I am looking forward to this.
@Blooper987 being the resident VTuber guy, I think this might be of interest.
Leave it to SEGA to make DLC and physical launches cumbersome.
And this is the part where imports come in handy.
People seem pretty positive on this, but I'd be lying if I said the screenshot didn't make me grimace hard because it gave me major Sonic Forces "Sanic" t-shirt vibes.
@EarthboundBenjy Yeah it's annoying AF and I don't even know what most of those things do in the deluxe version...
I'm not going to hold my breath on it being released internationally. Vtubing companies are known for being pretty stingy, so it likely was too expensive for SEGA to release outside of Japan.
@Not_Soos I watch Korone. She is actually a Sonic fan, and enjoys the games, watched her streams of Sonic Adventure and some of the classics. The "character" in the picture is what she uses to represent her audience, IIRC.
This is why I'm positive about this one, whereas the "Sanic" shirts were a meme, and Sanic was used to mock Sonic. Just wish the US got it too, since people outside Japan do watch VTubers too.
KORONE IN SONIC!! WHY!!!?
Notto understand…
Well now I have to pre order. But like others have said, please let don’t permanently lock it behind a pre order.
Oh and please allow us to at least buy it in the us.
@Sunsy She even played the Dreamcast version and will almost always chose to use original hardware, like with the WarioWare xD:

@MrFiletOFish I remember this! That's something cool about her, she uses original hardware, which is pretty neat.
I'm happy for Korone, not a fan but I'm happy if this hits off, just because I want to see the vtubers I watch have amazing collabs like this.

@EarthboundBenjy How else will they get us to spend $70+ on games? 🙃
This is dumb, I hate that is all split in separate pre-orders... I hope they all get bundle as one package for purchase after release and I hope the DLC are not region locked so I can purchase it in the Japanese eShop and use it on my NA copy of the game. Most importantly, I really really hope these DLC aren't pre-order exclusive because that would be the most disappointing thing ever about this whole shabang.
Region locked DLC is dumb.
