Re: Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?

Suketoudara

NSO. I went from Commodore 64 to SNES so never actually owned a NES, thus it's been my first time experiencing most of these games, other than the ones I played on my "NES" in Animal Crossing GameCube 20 something years ago!

Before the SNES my only experience of Nintendo were my Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros and Snoopy Tennis Game and Watches!

Re: Poll: Is It About Time Game Freak Added Voice Acting To Pokémon?

Suketoudara

@Yosher GameFreak has said Nintendo has no say over the Pokémon games development as they're independent from them and as I understand it The Pokémon Company sets the budget. It's because of that weird three way ownership Nintendo, GameFreak and The Pokémon Company have. Nintendo is basically just the distributor.

Re: Nintendo's "Mysterious" Switch Online Playtest Program Gets Another Patent

Suketoudara

"The industry as a whole" does this too, it's very normal and common. And FAO the news stories about them patenting simply summoning up an enemy to help you were incorrect/misinformation and it's been debunked:

https://www.theverge.com/games/779062/nintendo-pokemon-summoning-battle-patent

Funnily enough the debunking didn't get nearly as much traction and I don't remember all the ragebait YouTube video channels who were frothing at the mouths over that BS covering it.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorld's First "Premium" DLC Pack Arrives This Week

Suketoudara

What, they announced the DLC before launch like Pokemon Z-A?! Well that's plain outrageous, EVIL and disgusting! Stop supporting this multi billion dollar corporation, shills and bootlickers!! I'm off to make 10 YouTube videos on this with crying AI Amy Rose on the thumbnails!

Oh wait, wrong company, it's not a Nintendo game, nothing to see here, please carry on as normal and enjoy 🙂

Re: Opinion: Sonic Racing Crossworlds > Mario Kart World, And It's Not Even Close For Me

Suketoudara

I'll wait until I've tried the Switch 2 version of Crossworlds before passing final judgement but I can't say I was at all impressed by the Switch demo... felt janky, rough and overstimulating with too much visual and audio clutter. And the gimmick of randomly changing into another track was far more jarring for me than having to drive between tracks which I actually don't mind (even though I hope Nintendo eventually gives people the option to choose not to online)

And worst of all, it has no single player campaign/story mode like ALL the other Sonic racing games did and as someone who doesn't play a lot of online, that's a big disappointment, especially as Mario Kart World has the most single player content of any Mario Kart yet and I've spent over 100 hours in the Free Roam mode. These modes added so much longevity to the previous games, I don't know what SEGA was thinking?

Mario Kart World still needs some Quality of Life changes but it's a class act, extremely polished and fun with the most personality I've seen a Mario Kart since Double Dash. And of course that incredible soundtrack. Sonic Crossworlds felt to me like a cheap dopamine factory live service type aimed more at Fortnite players than SEGA fans :-/ And I heard a horrible rumour that Skibidi Toilet might be a future DLC for it (please no)

But as I said maybe I'll enjoy the Switch 2 version more, hopefully it'll get a demo too, although because of the lack of single player content if I do enjoy it I'll likely buy it later on sale.

Re: Review: KUUKIYOMI 4: Consider It Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - Delightfully Silly, With Plenty Of Dark Laughs

Suketoudara

Thanks for reviewing this @PJ O'Reilly! I'm so pleased Nintendo Life's finally reviewed one of them. They're genuinely laugh out loud funny and an interesting look into Japanese culture/humour. Don't sleep on them people if you like WarioWare type mini games, but more relaxing and low pressure. Plus they're a complete bargain.

I still haven't played mine yet though as planning to do so with a friend next week.

Mostly aimed at the console itself, I got a lot of laughs out of cheeky takes on 120fps gaming, how the console's mic works, and what HDR stands for.

Don't tell me they're parodying Welcome Tour?!

BTW I just saw the game has a DLC too called Dire Situations that features 30 more difficult scenarios of a dramatic nature that will "test your survival instinct" like a zombie outbreak, meteorite shower etc

Re: Digital Foundry Breaks Down Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 On Switch 1 & 2

Suketoudara

I've just played through Yoshi's Island for the first time - the only 2D Mario I never played (and was blown away!) and will soon be playing through Mario Galaxy 2 which was the only 3D Mario I hadn't played. VERY excited!

Incidentally has anyone else noticed how that one planet boss in Yoshi's Island feels like a precursor to Mario Galaxy with you running around the edge of the planet and going upside down

And the final boss feels like a proto-Bowser's Fury with the giant (baby) Bowser in the background breathing fire at you

Re: Random: KUUKIYOMI 4: Consider It's Switch 2 Edition Uses Mouse Mode In Neat Ways While Poking Fun At Nintendo

Suketoudara

@BaldB3lper78 @PJOReilly Interestingly I accidentally brought the Switch 2 version and realised I should've brought the Switch 1 version and done the free upgrade (as I wanted to play it on my Switch Lite too) but when I went on my Virtual Game Cards on my Switch Lite I found it there and it had automatically given me the Switch 1 version too!

Is this normal for Switch 2 games that have free upgrades that you get the Switch 1 version with it too? Pretty cool if not!

Re: Video: SEGA Shares "First Look" At Yakuza Kiwami 3's Combat Gameplay

Suketoudara

@GrailUK I meant some of the language around Game Key Cards was weird to me like calling a game that plays exactly the same and has benefit of being a digital copy you can sell on (unlike regular digital) for some of us.

I don't think collectors are weird, but I do think there's something of a delusion that physical games are like the physical of old sometimes, when in reality the formats that these games come on can make them unplayable in 20 years time and so many games have free patches and updates that the version on the cartridge no longer really has the whole game on it like they did back in the day (Animal Crossing New Horizons is a great example, you can't even swim in the base game and there's no Redd, Brewster, Capp'n etc!) Personally physical games lost their magic to me when they stopped having instruction manuals, even though I do still buy a mixture of physical and digital.

Re: The Next Arcade Archives Release Will Have Mouse Controls On Switch 1 & 2

Suketoudara

@Yosher Regular mice don't have Gyro which allows you to rotate the mouse for more control. If you watch this video at 19:21 in you'll see what I mean, watch the hand in the corner: https://youtu.be/VrTVeYm4iIM?si=pEkO7y8OIUkaZ8TH&t=1161

So when the developers of Mouse Work on Switch 2 didn't have a Switch 2 dev kit they had to create a makeshift Switch 2 joycon mouse like this to get the same controls!

Re: Video: SEGA Shares "First Look" At Yakuza Kiwami 3's Combat Gameplay

Suketoudara

@GrailUK They're not spending their money on "nothing" They're spending their money on a game which will play EXACTLY THE SAME whether it's a Game Key Card or not. Some of you are really weird with how you talk about Game Key Cards.

@Sambuc I'm starting to think wealthy physical game collectors just don't understand the benefit of cheaper games AND being able to sell them on after for many of us or that most gamers have no intention of keeping their games forever rather than playing newer games. But their whinging and boycotting will likely just lead to more digital only games in the future, not "proper physicals"

We're seeing it already with Pac Man World 2 Re-Pac being digital only in Europe which really sucks as we can't sell it on for another game like US gamers getting a Game Key Card. Well thanks Game Key Card haters 👎🏻

Re: Random: KUUKIYOMI 4: Consider It's Switch 2 Edition Uses Mouse Mode In Neat Ways While Poking Fun At Nintendo

Suketoudara

I have the first two game in the series on Switch and they're hilarious! They have some really interesting insights into Japanese culture/society too and the ending to the first game was surprisingly moving.

This series is a bit like a chilled out low pressure WarioWare and you get a personality profile based on how considerate of a person you are!

Very glad it's getting more attention as a lot of Japanese indie games/franchises get missed by Western audiences. Will be buying the Switch 2 one having read this and it's on sale at the moment. 😃

Re: Nintendo Of America President Doug Bowser Announces Retirement

Suketoudara

I also don't think American members realise the significance of Satoru Shibata becoming CEO of NOA. He was very much an Iwata style leader at NOE and extremely passionate about gamers, even indulged in Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright cosplays in some of the European Directs! He loved those kind of games. Shibata is great.

Re: Nintendo Of America President Doug Bowser Announces Retirement

Suketoudara

@AussieMcBucket Just speculating but I wonder if NCL might have been unhappy about the amount of negativity, hate and drama surrounding Switch 2 in the US. Granted a lot of it has been due to decisions probably made by NCL but Nintendo of America's god awful, confusing or non existent communication recently doesn't help. Interesting Pritchard's background is in PR and Shibata being someone who was very in touch with the fans back in the day, hosting tne NOE directs with Iwata style humour and fun.

Re: Nintendo Of America President Doug Bowser Announces Retirement

Suketoudara

Pritchard is a Pikmin fan and got a special thanks in the Metroid Prime Remastered and Wii Punch Out credits. Shibata is a gamer too and used to host the European directs! I'm quite hopeful about both these hires.

(I know Doug Bowser claims to be a gamer but he twice said Zelda comes from Hyland and didn't seem to know a thing about Nintendo's games so I'm sceptical)

Re: Nintendo Of America President Doug Bowser Announces Retirement

Suketoudara

Other changes are coming, too: Satoru Shibata will be taking over as Chief Executive Officer, in addition to maintaining his position as Managing Executive Officer and Corporate Director of the NCL. Shibata has been the president of Nintendo of Europe and Nintendo of Australia previously

Wait, Doug was both president and CEO so having a separate CEO is a new position at NOA they made for Shibata! Doug's role has been split. Sending over Shibata does a bit sound like NCL was unhappy with things and want to keep a closer eye on them/help them out.

Actually CEO is higher than president so Shibata is her boss probably.

Re: Site News: So, Where's Our Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Review?

Suketoudara

@Solid_Python Yeah the Switch 1 demo runs pretty poorly and looks rough IMO :-/ Feels janky and unpolished.

Though I'm not sure if even the Switch 2 version will do it for me. The game has so much visual and audio clutter, I actually found it kind of overwhelming and the handling feels so stiff compared to Mario Kart World and even Sega and Sonic All-Star Racing. Also am very disappointed there's no offline campaign/story mode like the other Sonic racing games had.
