I promised myself I wouldn't play it any more until they fixed the performance ... Looks like I just won't play it ever again. I rarely care about performance or graphics and have a very high treshold for wobbles, but I had so many issues here it soured me on the whole game. Forget open world, give me routes and Snap 2 like vibrancy.
I mean, Musk sacked half of the twitter team, presumably those in charge of copyright infringements in the first place. Honestly, he doesn't seem to be intelligent at all ('fortunately' he could count on apartheid emerald mine money to get his start in life huh).
As for piracy, i'm sympathetic to complaints for smaller companies or artists, but this has already made a billion. People who want to see in the theather will still see it there. And people who have no familiarity with Nintendo and happen to watch this, might just fall in love with Mario. I'm not entirely convinced piracy is /always/ bad for bussiness. Before streaming services like Spotify and before I had any real money, I used to torrent music. Often that made me fall in love with an artist or band, which meant I saved up so I could buy a concert ticket when they came near. Libraries have made me fall in love with certain authors from which I have bought every book in the next years. I don't think it's a black and white issue.
I bought Theathrythm on a whim because I enjoyed the demo so much, and I haven't been able to put it down. I have no affinity with FF (only played trough X) but the music is so good and the gameplay loop so addicting. It's a case of 'just another song' and before you know it you've lost hours.
Because I enjoy this little rhythm game so much I started Hi-Fi Rush on the Xbox as well. Still in the early stages, but it looks amazing.
I bought Ni No Kuni II in the sale as well. I loved everything about the first one except the absolutely dreadful combat, which this entry seems to have fixed, even if it's a bit button mash-y (i don't really mind that personally).
Octopath II is really winking at me too. I don't know how long I'll resist, but I have my fair share of RPG's in backlog. Tough times for spoilt gamers!
While I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Three Houses, it also felt much too convoluted, up to the point where I often felt like I lost grasp of the game. In terms of combat I liked the approach of Triangle Stategy more. This seems more a lot more streamlined than its predecessor — I might enjoy that.
I hate Pokémon for making me willingly listen to and Ed Sheeran song (trice), but this overview trailer should've been released sooner: it would've gotten me hyped from the beginning. The game looks like a lot of fun in this, which was lacking in the earlier trailers.
These past/future forms will make it difficult to choose between the versions ... and might eventually push me over the edge to buy both versions ... Well played, Gamefreak, i say reluctantly.
Johto's trio last, I'm suing this site. But I can admit the shift to 3D has ruined Typhlosion and Meganium, just look at their 2nd generation sprites, they were flawless!
As a trio, I think both the 3rd gen and 4th gen starters are the strongest designs, with the former edging it out.
As for Kanto, Venusaur is one of the finest mons ever IMO. Both Charizard and Blastoise are just 'meh'.
Galar has the worst designs. The only one I somewhat like is Intelleon, and its design would be improved manifold if it we're quadruped. The other two are some of my least favourite mons in existence.
The original joycons on my OG started drifting quite quickly, but the ones of my OLED switch still work perfectly. I usually play quite easy-going games though.
PLA ran very smoothly, so i'm hoping they can iron these things out. I'm not one too bothered by performance hiccups, but there is no excuse really. Glad it seems to be a very fun game in spite of it.
I genuinely like all the designs so far ... People were on about Bisharp, Zekrom, Dialga and Palkia not looking like Pokémon either when they were first revealed. And with the Ultra Beasts the concept of what a Pokémon is has certainly changed as well
Hopefully the political reality of Japan will mirror this soon.
As always with big companies, you never know of this is an ethical awakening or something born out of the need to keep talent on board or attract new talent, but in the end I suppose it doesn't really matter. Good on you, N!
RF5 is preloaded, very excited. I sorta hate myself for buying it right now because I don't have the time for a timesink, but I don't have to like myself to enjoy a game so that's ok.
I bought RF4 two years ago on Switch, and I loved the gameplay loop so much, but hated the lack of gay romance options. So it seems this game has fixed my sole issue that prevented it from scratching all the itches. I will buy it, just not sure when since I got sucked in by Triangle Strategy and have basically neglected all my chores in the meantime. (Unfortunately, unlike in RF, that does matter in the real world lol).
If I get anywhere close to buying this, because this does look like everything i wanted as a child, then i'll make sure to make a donation to trans charity.
There are things about it I don't like, but I'm also undeniably charmed by some of the little details that are sorely lacking from the main games. Luxray's attacking position, Buneary's cute little sitting position when the player is catching the psyduck ... The Pokémon do feel a lot more alive. I'm cautiously optimistic!
Platinum/HGSS/BW(2) were the series peak, with enormous care for quality of life and tons of fun features. The story additions of Pt/HGSS were remarkable improvements too, and BW(2) are still the best the series has been in terms of storytelling and ambition.
XY was a barebones game in comparison. Sun and Moon were enjoyable for a first run, but lacked any replay value. SS feel like their soul has been sucked out.
I'm very tempted, since I almost exclusively play handheld and still have my 2017 switch, so the battery upgrade would be nice. On the other hand, my OG switch is still in optimal state, so it feels a bit like money down the drain.
SWSH had very little changes (or none) at its release compared to earlier trailers. With GF, mostly, what you see is what you get. I have zero confidence in this game mostly because it looks empty (and that won't work in Pokémon) and, at least for now, they haven't shown any noteworthy plotpoints.
Compare it to the lush and rich environments of snap. Give me a linear Pokémon game like that: a world that is not too big but full of character and surprises at every turn. GF was once very good at that.
Wholly deserved! I've completed the main story but still have so much pictures to take. It has truly rekindled my love for Pokémon. The way I would've applauded a dex cut for SWSH if it meant models and animations like this.
It's actually making me emotional to see the pokémon, the true stars of the show, being done justice again. I missed out on the original, so I wasn't initially planning on buying this, but the liveliness of the models and the bright colours are just irrisistable. This is how 3D pokémon is supposed to look and feel.
@skulldragr lol in what world. She was the great white hope, lauded to the heavens as the next big thing in tennis and as the end of the Williams reign when she beat Serena in 2004, a feat she never managed to repeat ever again. Maybe learn the actual very racially motivated history of the early 00's WTA tour.
@shgamer because Venus has a lot more issues in her game than Serena: weaker second serve, less variation, and a forehand that breaks down half the time. Also, Venus has sjogrens disease.
Wozniacki didn't have a forehand at all, was probably the most passive player to ever win a slam and wasn't particularly miss Sunshine on the court, employing gamesmanship on a much more consistent basis than Serena.
I do have some issues with Serena, but she's a human with her faults after all. What we're not going to do is downplay her achievements, and accuse her of PED when, as a top player, she's tested constantly.
Aaand there we go with the substance abuse ... Meanwhile, the great white hope Sharapova actually did use PEDs and still had a 17 match losing streak against Serena.
Even though I was going to wait a bit until I had less schoolwork, I couldn't help myself and bought Sakuna. What a gorgeous game, and the gameplay is extremely addicting. I enjoy every bit of the rice cultivation, I love how in depth it is.
Not sure if I'm buying Sakuna just yet - I'm swamped with schoolwork - but it is definitely getting a purchase from me at some point! It looks right up my alley.
The fact that their logo still gives me the chills because it was always the first thing you saw when you booted up the old games ... I miss the way Pokémon made me feel.
A confirmation of everything we had suspected. Ever since gen 6 gamefreak has been doing the bare minimum. I love Pokémon, I just wish it goes back to the heights of the DS era games.
I restarted Pokémon shield and I'm a bit milder for it this time. I did parts of the isle of Armor between the first and the second gym, and that was a nice bit of padding. Also, the wild area on the Isle is vastly improved, but it makes the mainland galar wild area stick out like a sore thumb though. Overall, I'm enjoying my second playtrough, more than the first which I quit half way.
@Araquanid they never make it a series staple because they know it's one of those things that makes fans splurge on a game they might not have interest to buy (remakes, dlc ...)
Going off the plushies ... Pretty sure it'll be Let's Go Johto, which I would be disappointed by ... They're my favourite Pokémon games but HGSS was perfection. I'd rather have them remake that.
While there's a lot to be said about the oversexualisation of women in games (how many times have you seen a realistic woman in a game as opposed to men), I'm also not a fan of policing sexual desire. Finding someone hot, even if it's a fictional character, is a natural thing to feel; the erotic doesn't follow the strict rules of morality and society. So some boys **** to a video game character, big whoop.
I don't think it was appropriate for the official account to post this tho, after all, some or most people play without this sexual fixation. They should be able to see the official account without comments like that.
On the other hand, and I'm walking on thin ice here, if you start to identify with a game character, and as a consequence feel unsafe because people desire said character, you're probably inscribing yourself in victimhood more than necessary. Sexual desire needs expression, surely some lewd jokes on twitter are not that big of a deal.
At any rate, if game developers cared more about creating female characters that don't cater to male gaze, this discussion would be moot. Alas, that doesn't happen, and when it does happen (TLOU 2 lesbian moment for instance) it is met with vitriol. So perhaps the pendulum needs to swing in the other direction for once to result in some balance.
Back to animal crossing. I finally have some kind of an idea of how I want my island to look like, so my interest in the game is reinvigorated.
