At the start of this month, Nintendo, Creatures and Game Freak filed a trademark application for エンテイ (Entei). As in the name of the legendary fire-type pocket monster that first appeared in Pokémon Gold and Silver on the Game Boy Color.
According to PokéJungle, some Pokémon fans think this trademark might be connected to a follow-up of the 2018 Switch release, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee! (which were remakes of the original Game Boy games). Here's some speculation about what this could be from a user on the Pokémon subreddit:
"Pokemon Entei sounds a bit like a spin-off, but it could have some connection to Lets Go Johto."
Of course, it could be anything else related to Pokémon as well...we'll just have to wait and see!
Apart from this, Nintendo also filed trademarks for Game & Watch, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury expansion, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, and Donkey Kong Country.
What do you think the trademark for Entei might be linked to? How about that Donkey Kong one? Tell us down below.

Hard to say, not enough info yet. Maybe a let's go Jhoto game I guess.
Ho-Oh and Lugia should be next.
Guess someone got bored of being in the shadow of Suicune
Whatever it is, I hope it brings Entei back into the spotlight. Of the trio, I've always had a soft spot for the fluffy fire pup-pup :3
Also, it would be amazing if we could ride them again, like in Guardian Signs and the first Let's Go!!
Probably just protecting their trademarks or whatever.
Still would love to see the legendary dogs get some love again. I still have my event shinys from the gen 4 distributions.
I love those kind of articles with trademark because it always remind those people that Pokemon trademark and copyright are owned by Nintendo, GF and Creatures. Which also should remind that Nintendo is a publisher for those games since ever lol
W-wait, why Entei? Was that one separate from the other Gen 2 Pokémon? Or is this about the movie? Because "Let's Go, Entei!" is a comical but ridiculous notion.
...obviously, Suicune is the best.
@KingBowser86 Don't you want to carry Entei on your shoulder and give it funny hairdos?
@Eel "436 lbs."
Who do I look like, Ash Ketchum?! I couldn't fit him on my shoulder!
Nope, absolutely not. Unless it’s a 3D remake of Generation 2, I’m not buying it. Didn’t buy the first Let’s Go games and I’m not buying these.
Man do i want a hardcore pokemon game, in the style (graphics) and open world style of breath of the wild and gameplay battle system style of pokken lol. Even if its just first generation pokemon only.
Wi never happen tho.
Pokemon Ranger remake
@The-Chosen-one So you basically want a totally different game, but with a Pokemon makeover?
@JesWood13 The Let's GO games weren't that bad. They were actually quite well done and fun to play.
My son had a blast with the game and I actually enjoyed it as well.
The Let's GO games eventually led to what was to come with Pokemon Sword/Shield with free roaming visible Pokemons in the landscape (for example).
I think they were pretty succesful, so it makes sense there would be another Let's GO game in the making.
You might not like the games, that is perfectly fine, doesn't mean others didn't enjoy them.
Poor Raikou. Really the unwanted child.
Just give us Platinum Remastered for gods sake!
@JesWood13 But... that would be a 3D remake of Gen 2 lol. Let’s GO was much more faithful to Gen I than it was to Gen 3 (for better or for worse), and the only major difference was in the catching mechanic. While I would personally prefer a proper Gen 4 remake, I’d welcome a Let’s GO Johto with open arms too, because Gen 2 is my favourite.
Pokemon Let's Go Marill and Togepi!
pokemon let's go entei/suicune/raikou - have the legendary beast as the box legendary; but starter should be magby, smoochum, elekid.
i would have done let's go sun/moon - and have your eevee evolve to the corresponding version
@Kezza64 gamefreak is tone deaf to fan outcry, the remake when it comes (if ever) will run slower than diamond/pearl.
The single best change pokemon could implement would be a "I played pokemon before" option when you design your character; and give a drastically reduced tutorial/intro rather than the hours long intro we have gotten for the past few games
@sheriff I feel like not even that could save it. Sword and Shield are good examples of how fundamentally flawed and unchanged Pokemon games are twenty years on. Even without a tutorial section, the game is laid out in such a way that even the young children who might break away from YouTube and whatever the fad game of the day is to play it would feel like their intelligence is being insulted. Level design is little more than straight hallways, storyline is dispensed entirely by stopping gameplay and being spoken at by NPCs, players are healed by their happy-go-lucky rivals/best friends nearly twice at every turn. I feel like offering a "skip the tutorial" option would be little more than a band-aid because the entire game is a tutorial.
The legendary dogs are so cool. The fearsome Entei, the elegant Suicune, and also there's a third one I guess.
@sheriff Remaking Platinum would have to be the most foolproof plan you'd think. All it needs is graphical upgrades and make the mystery gift pokemon like Darkrai in-game.
But of course they'll find a way to screw it all up.
Probably related to a new movie. The films have started mirroring the original films and anime episodes. With the I choose you movie mirroring the first episode, the power of us movie mirroring the power of one in the second movie, and then the 3D remake of the first movie. Seems like a solid bet that a new movie will be related to Entei and maybe the Unown.
@duffmmann I agree. They're probably gonna remake the Entei movie in 3D computer animation just like they did with The first movie.
Game Freak gas already said they're not gonna make another Let's go games, since the first ones did so poorly. The only reason they made the first ones was because they wanted to get people only interested in Pokémon Go to play the main series game. So why on earth would they make another one.
@mariomaster96 now that would be awesome.
@Jeronan but more people disliked them then liked, so its not a good idea to make another when so many people didn't like them.
@Menardi I honestly think that Gamefreak just doesn’t know what they’re doing anymore and it would be best if they gave development of the series to a company that will be able to do it justice.
The idea of a Let's Go Entei game seems almost comical to me but I'd probably try it. They should make being able to ride Entei an option. Traveling around Johto on Entei's back really excites the child within me honestly.
Probably an amiibo or something. The Jhoto games are going to be Pokemon: Let's Go Pichu and Pokemon: Let's Go Togepi.
@MagicMan Bro, what are you talk about? Let's go didn't sell poorly, it sold 12.2 million which falls in line with every remake that been released. Hell, it outsold mario galaxy 2, Twilight princess, and the entirety of the DS/3DS library outside 7 games on the 3ds and 8 on the ds.
@JeagerTheSun and yet it was still garbage. Just because it sold well doesn't mean it was a good game, and it was not.
