@MaxiPareja very true but the NES also had to contend with a video game market that was dead in the US and a stigma that it was only meant for kids. A lot more gamers now and the video game business is as healthy and profitable as it's ever been.
@Dakotastomp it's true it isn't geared towards kids. The homebrew market is targeted towards adults who grew up on the system the games are being home-brewed for. I don't know if you live in Europe or not where the NES wasn't as big but here in the US the retro gaming community is pretty big. Large enough that retro game stores are popping up everywhere. Close friend of mine owns two stores and NES systems and games are constantly being bought.
They'll undoubtedly make much more money on this digitally as the physical NES cart is only for a niche group but its a group that exists and have/will buy it. If people are funding it on Kickstarter for that reason than why is it a problem?
The one in NYC is awesome. Glad I'm one of the lucky ones that can go to it conveniently. Don't know why they don't expand elsewhere. Plenty of Nintendo fans outside of NY and Israel.
@ilikeike homebrews make good money on the NES. Don't think you realize how big the community is. True, it's not huge but it's sizable enough that these guys make profits
I work for MLB Advanced Media and I can tell you very little effort went into making the game. It should be an easy pass, especially at that price point.
I worked at MLBAM for five years. I was there when the first two games were being made. I can tell you very minimal effort was put into these games and by the looks of it, nothing has changed. Don't spend more than $5 on this unless you're absolutely desperate for a baseball game
@Metalinkster hahah i expected this to be in the article. Glad I can rely on good people like you to continue to show the world this beautiful and tragic love story
