Just started Cyber Shadow (I’m going to need to get a whole lot better at it than I am now ) and Need for Speed. Still slowly making my way through Horace.
Yes, Definitely like the smoother experience with T1 & 2 here. I’m more familiar with C64 Turrican and the sluggish controls and graphical glitches there make the game a lot more difficult than it should be.
Do have a further negative to report though and that’s that the game has crashed 4 times on me now over a roughly 5 hour playing period. Hopefully this gets patched up soon.
It’s on the wishlist for now. Love Shinobi and would love for it to get the same treatment as SoR4 to modernize it. This isn’t anywhere near as ambitious, but beggars can’t be choosers lol. Think this is priced just a tad high at the moment and I have a backlog that needs addressing first but yeah, I’m sure I’ll pick this up in a sale down the road.
Still working my way through Paper Mario, almost 30 hours in. Picked up Turrican Flashback yesterday and loving it. So nice to be able to play these Amiga classics without having to mess around with emulators. The Cyber Shadow icon has been staring at me all week but I’m holding off starting that until I’m done with the 2 games above.
What a difference it makes not having to mess around with an Amiga emulator to play these games again. Or having to reach for a keyboard to pop a grenade. Would love to see a bit more Amiga and C64 games revisited on Switch. Is it me or are T1 & 2 here much faster than the originals? Definitely find them much less clunky.
Don’t mind the absence or super Turrican 2 though yeah, it should have been here. If we’re asking for more, than the C64 versions of T1 and T2 would be my preference. So compared to something like the Contra collection it does feel a bit incomplete but I’ll be buying this as soon as it goes up regardless
Already had the Contra collection , picked up the other 2. $5 bucks come on, Just to good to pas up.
You know im most impressed with the “Gradius” collection, does have Tate mode and the JP versions of the games now and find the menus to be a bit nicer than on the Contra / CV collections. Having fun with Twin Bee and there’s enough variety here to keep me busy when I’m in the mood for this type of game. Castlevania arcade is absolutely awful though
The backlog is starting to take on scary proportions again. I tried my best looking away during the various sales weeks but I did not come out unscathed lol.
This weekend, primarily playing through Paper Mario. A frustrating game in that viewed from certain angles it really has the potential to be something special but it does get bogged down by certain design elements. For me the good does outweigh the bad so sticking with this one until the end.
Another one who bought Horace super cheap here. Great game Though I’m more interested in the story than the platforming bits in between
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for local multiplayer to keep us occupied until 3D World comes out.
Tracking Shadow Gangs and Cyber Shadow for Jan. Along with the Turrican collection. Mario 3dW and Capcoms arcade collections and G&G for Feb. Not a bad first 2 months of the year!
Still waiting on that Turrican collection that never came That’s really the only game I would buy right now despite the backlog taking in massive proportions again over these last few weeks. At least until Ghosts & Goblins comes out
Really not a bad year at all. For 1st party titles, I bought Animal Crossing, 51 Club House Games, Paper Mario, Links Awakening , Luigi’s Mansion 3 , New Super Mario Brothers and Fire Emblem 3 Houses of the top of my head. Haven’t even touched LM3 or PM yet as I’m making my way through FE3H.
In total I picked up 35 games this year and there are still quite a few older releases I still want to get as well, just don’t have the time to realistically play them any time soon. I really wonder with people who complain about the no. Of releases how much time they have available for gaming or if Nintendo is really the right fit for their tastes because I’m just not seeing it when you look at the entire catalog of available games as a whole.
Still no sign of Turrican Flashback collection grrr. This week, will be double dipping on some Double Dragon. It may not look great but it plays and sounds fantastic so I’m in again
Looking forward to just trying Paper Mario for myself over the holiday break. Great to see SoR4 do well here, it’s the 2020 game I most enjoyed this year.
Only a couple hours into FE 3 Houses and looking to make some progress with that. Also playing through NSMB with my wife and having a great time with it. Could never get into it on the WiiU but but for some reason the Switch version clicked for both of us.
I’ve been stalking the E-shop for info on Turrican but still not seeing it listed under either recently released or coming soon. Buying that if it ever pops ups.
Going through this giant list is a bit much , gave up pretty quickly there. I’m sure AC will win the award and it’s a great game deserving of such an accolade but my personal favorite this year is Streets of Rage 4 - just love this game. Really hoping for more new entries to classic series with this level of quality.
It’s time to start a new game and I think I’ll go with Fire Emblem 3 Houses and leave Witcher 3 until after that. But...I do see Astral Chain is on sale on the E-shop....very tempting.
Yup a downside for sure. Having to to stock controllers for certain games not ideal. But for me it’s a minor issue since it really only popped up during certain Botw shrines NSMBu recently. For everything else I really prefer the comfort of the split pro over standard controllers (I play 90% in handheld mode)
For all you new Switch owners out there, buy yourself a Split Pad Pro. Much more enjoyable playing when not docked and your hands will thank you for it.
Wow the good news keeps on rolling these last 24 hours haha. I absolutely loved this back on the 360. Graphics weren’t great back then and won’t look much better in this post SoR4 world we live in now, but the combat system is great and I love the music as well.
Anyone know when this is going to be released now? Was hoping this would sneak on the e-shop today as per this article but it doesn’t look good right now
Not buying anything this week but interested in IFR and Commandos 2. Now, where is the Turrican collection ?!? Still not showing up in the e-shop list of coming items but it should be releasing next week I hope.
There’s borrowing from and then there is ripping off. And this falls pretty obviously in the latter category. Of course you’re going to compare it to the game it’s attempting to be. It’s like trying to review Great Giana Sisters but not being allowed to compare it to Super Mario Brothers. Anyways it looks pretty fun still. Might consider this when it goes on sale. I’ve got quite the collection of heavily discounted Ubisoft games on Switch already so what’s one more.
Can’t believe the day is finally here it’s on sale lol. $20 is fair, I’ll pick this one up as well. Now if only we could get a port of SF4 , how has this not happened yet. Not in the Capcom leaks either
I’ve already bought the physical editions of LM3 , Links Awakening , NSMB , Fire Emblem and Witcher 3 on sale Over this last week - with the Turrican collection coming out soon, I think I’m set for a while.
That’s the first time I’ve ever seen Ultra SF2 go on sale and it’s been out for years. Hmmmm
Shinobi is a great Ages release. Still plan on picking up Virtua Racing one of these days when I’m in the mood for a racer. Really hope they focus a bit more on the more popular Sega games out there. Shadow Dancer probably at the top of my wish list
Well I am playing a Zelda game this weekend but it’s Links Awakening which I picked up last week on sale Halfway through so far and really enjoying this one. Some nice and relaxing light combat and puzzles , just great. Would love to see more updates of GB(A) games , lets start with Advanced Wars ehhh Nintendo??
Enjoyed this on the 360, might double dip if it goes on sale. It’s not really clear to me what improvements this port brings to the table. Do remember the soundtrack being pretty awful as well and it probably hasn’t aged well over these last 10 years either
Well this is bizarre. I ordered a couple games of Best Buy at 1 am this morning as the Nintendo stuff is on sale. Just had a knock on the door and a lady in a hertz rental van just dropped off the first 2 games all within 15 hours of placing the order! o.O this was with free shipping too lol. So I guess I can now add to my list I’m playing this weekend LM3 and Links Awakening
Clearing out my backlog a bit in preparation of adding right back to it over the next month as the sales will be too good to pass up on. Already picked up FE 3 houses, Zelda LA, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and NSMB from Best Buy last night as they’re on sale now so those will keep me busy When the come in this week. This weekend, I’m mostly playing GRID and trying to move up from the standard professional to veteran difficulty and hopefully not let my race team down in the process
Finally relented and picked up Rayman Legends and Southpark SoT during the most recent monthly Ubisoft sale. Already finished Rayman and halfway through Southpark which I’ll be playing pretty much exclusively this weekend. Both great games and at around $10 each just fantastic value
36 new Japanese Xbox owners this week lol. Maybe it’s just really difficult to acquire one over there. Perhaps prospective buyers must travel to the top of Mt Fiji to visit the one store that sells you a Xbox
Surprisingly high sales that for Pikmin. It just looks like whatever Nintendo does right now turns to Gold.
codemasters were great back then releasing pretty decent games at budget prices. Dizzy was their best known series I would say. For those wondering why this is so popular in Europe, the home PC was very popular mostly because it was an affordable way to play games.
I have pretty awful internet and played the demo on my wireless connection in performance mode. And despite that it ran perfectly fine. Clearly your mileage may vary but this should be a valid option from a technical POV for a decent size of the Switch IB.
$40 is already significantly cheaper than the standard full price a game like this on Switch would command. For those who don’t think game ownership is a super important issue, this seems like a pretty fair deal to me.
Pretty light on new stuff I’m interested in these last 2 months of the year. Only the Turrican compilation is a must-buy for me. Quite a number of games that have already released I would like to get though if the price is right so here’s hoping for some good sales over the holiday period.

Re: Interview: "There Would Be No Control On Switch Without The Cloud," Says Remedy
This isn’t the 80s/90s anymore where every console and home PC gets its own tailor made version of a game lol. Scarcity of resources. RoI. The end.
Re: Interview: "There Would Be No Control On Switch Without The Cloud," Says Remedy

I guess what I’m saying is...I don’t really care about ownership in this case. $40 is still $20 cheaper than what a substandard switch port would have been. I may just pick this up at a future date
Re: Turrican Flashback Blasts Its Way Onto Switch In December
The contra collection has raised the bar for these types of collections for me. GB, NES, SNES , MD and Arcade games all there, some nice extra content and all that for a very low price. So yeah, having a bit more versions such as C64 T1 & 2 probably should be included at this price. I’ll still buy this day 1 as at least it has 4 games I really want but yeah, missed opportunity to make it really special
