The NX has to be easy to develop for and powerful, as long as you hit these two things, Nintendo can get as experimental as they want. Underpowered hardware and lack of third party will lead to the same old story, no matter what they come up with.
Just waiting to see what NX is, so I can quickly figure out if Nintendo has learn from their commercial failure. I don't see the 3ds and Wii U lasting more than 2yrs, so they better have something to impress.
The Nintendo system is a second system to me, so I'm not as devastated at this E3 as some others, it came out with some fun titles but I know its just winding down. I'm surprised how bad Nintendo came out at this E3 though with some of their IP decisions. It looks like Wii U's future isn't looking great outside of Zelda. The other systems are only going to get better game libraries next year, and by the time those games come out Wii U will probably be dead at that point.
I hope the gameplay is good. The style is okay but could be better.
It's very hard to make a 2.5d side scrolling look good with 3d models as the characters when your reference is a retro 2d game, unless you have some good shaders. If they would have done a guilty gear cell shading, and make the animation closer to traditional frames, a 2d feel similar to king of fighters, or new guilty gear, I think it would be gold.
It's a challenging approach, but it would be effective in presentation even 2d on 3d such as Contra : Hard corp Uprising/ Strider 2 arcade, I think it would make the game feel more alive and organic, just from a style.
I don't know what happen to Konami. I think they've been only focused on Metal Gear games and have just almost ignored making any other AAA games all together. I haven't seen any ips come from them in a while. I feel like they went the mobile route to generate money and its catching up to them.
@allav886..once your married you'll have no life , I would think it would be the beginning of a new life. Game Over would sound kind of messed up, basically game over to your single life.
This person sounds like he's never made a game before. He would know better about how hard it is to finish creating a game, but then to say I wanted to add more. This person comes off with an ego drive, about what he wants, it became less about his vision once he started taking peoples money. He needs to check his ambition at the door and finish the game, if its remotely successful, make a game on a bigger scope, and ask for what real money is needed. If he can't finish this product that tarnishes his company, that is on him. I have seen projects change over time and deadlines missed, but this comes off as a severe mess up on what is needed to finish a solid product. I hope they at least finish the game and makeup for their mess ups to the kick-starter audience. That would at least help create some damage-control.
That's great for developers that want to get their games on Nintendo. This can only help the New 3ds when it comes to game availability on the e-shop, but whats going to sell the new 3ds other than hardware is the retail exclusives. If the New 3ds doesn't have a good amount of AAA 3d exclusives, having Unity work on it isn't going to matter.
Established Indie companies that use Unity may hesitate putting their game on the system unless its a port, the user base will remain small for a while until NIntendo pushes out even more exclusives. That being said it does open up the opportunity to get up and coming developers a foot in the door, and games that were missed on the 3ds to come to the new 3ds.
I would just be surprised to see some thing that is New, Exclusive, and High quality coming out of unity indie games, just (based on the current user base) and the (slightly upgraded New 3ds power). It doesn't mean it can't happen, but if NX is the next successor to possibly both systems, game companies could look at the New 3ds as a stop gap similar to the DSi, unless NIntendo reveals during the E3 that the NEW 3ds is going to get hooked up with (serious AAA software) for more than a year.
Your absolutely right, NIntendo is stretched thin and they know it takes time to make great AAA game. If they only had any third party they would obviously be in a better position. I guess the hopes will come down to the second party companies(Retro, Platinum Games) but other than that we'll have to wait and see.
@Yorumi I see where your coming from, but it would be nice to see if NIntendo has anything to show at E3 other than what we have known for the past year. I'm not thinking of it as a long term solution for Wii U because its more than halfway done. Its obvious this system was not built to last 8 plus years like their counter parts. That being said I am interested to see if the system goes out in the next 2 years, riding it out with a bang or a whimper, before NX comes in. E3 will help give a better indication on what Nintendo's plans are, I don't think they would pull a Sega Dreamcast with the Wii U when the Ps2 entered the market, that would really hurt their fanbase.
It's nice to see my question posted and answered, thank you Nintendo Life. I look forward to Affordable Space Adventure and in KnapNok's future original titles.
original niche jrpg + western/european market + new nintendo 3ds system (limited audience) + going against other released big name NIntendo Titles = equals sales struggle.
I can only imagine the time and effort put into this game, from the concept down to the marketing. I commend the risk your taking with such an abstract idea from gameplay, to presentation. When this game is released whether the audience is open to originality or not, will you continue to make games as original as this game whether the sales bomb or meet expectations?
Will sales determine the future of your next games or will you end up taking a more conservative approach based on the market, whether it be in the idea, or scope of the game for the Wii U, or leave it all together?
