Project CARS launches on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 soon, with the Wii U release taking place later this year. To build up interest in the game - which has already suffered a couple of delays - publisher Bandai Namco has published a fresh trailer which aims to show off the progression of the game's single-player career mode.
The focus is very much on moving through the ranks, winning various racing disciplines and shifting from team to team until you "become a legend". It's stirring stuff, and not only shows off the variety of tracks and cars on offer, but also the eye-catching visuals.
The graphics shown in this trailer are almost certainly taken from either the PC version or one of the aforementioned next-gen editions, but hopefully the Wii U will be able to play host to something equally impressive.

Never been fan of racing games like this. Rage Racer is the only one that trully got my attention. If this game has the same abilities to upgrade by finishing races for points I might get it.
Can we please refrain from showing any footage not Nintendo related towards this game?! I want to see it running on the Wii U only at this point!
Hah, didn't even show the Wii U boxart at the end there. Still had the logo, though. I'm still waiting on a release date, you know, but once it's out, I'll probably still pick it up. I'm too cheap to buy a wheel, so I'll likely get the Wii U version so long as they don't muck it up.
I do hope this becomes an excellent Wii U title. It's one of the few games I feel like I'd be missing if we can a notably inferior version.
I'm still very much looking forward to this on Wii U. I just hope it's good.
I'm not interested in this game anymore. At this point Wii U owners should just forget about it and just get the game (if they are still interested by then) when they finally release it on the Wii U.
It's refreshing to see some support for the Wii U, especially coming from a major AAA cross-platform game.
Props to the devs for making this happen! Think I'll pick it up on PS4 though...
I'll believe the Wii U version exists when I see the Wii U version,
The lack of any screenshots or trailers for the Wii U version suggests that even if they are actually going to port it to our system, they haven't started work on it yet. I mean there isn't even a date for the Wii U release.
Who else thinks this won't make it out on Wii U in the end?
For the record I will buy it if it does (and it's not terrible, natch.)
BTW, the Wii U version only seems to be listed in the UK at the moment for Pre-orders...
I was just thinking about this yesterday actually. As long as the WiiU version is atleast visually on par with Need for Speed most wanted, I'll still be happy.
I'm still wondering what's going on with 90's arcade racer and Road Redemption, we haven't heard anything new about them for a while.
Hey Damo, I hope Sony does not sue you for using that as your header
I want to see the Wii U version of this too.
I'll get it on WiiU, hopefully not long left.
How have we gone this long without WiiU footage when it was the first version they worked on?
i wouldnt be surprised to learn namco bandai are purposely holding the Wii U versions back because they don't want the Wii U's version being used in videos and reviews during launch (due to lesser graphics). In terms of consoles the Wii U version was the first version announced. Before Namco Bandai stepped in the devs was very open about everything and gave(or answered) multiple status updated and was very vocal about the Wii U. we get a release date at the same time as the others then Namco Bandai turn up, boom it's delayed and suddenly the devs fall silent.
In terms of Wii U gameplay whilst not actual Wii U footage a few youtubers have "simulated" Wii U footage by adjusting the PC beta's settings
I'm be glad when we finally get this, there isn't really anything like this on Wii U
Project Cars has had quite a lead-in in terms of hype, but I didn't see anything in that trailer to make me think it's much different to the likes of Grid on PC.
I'll be waiting to see what's special about it, if anything.
@sinalefa - I think @Damo just forgot what website he was posting this to. Has to be hard wearing 2 hats. Or he was subtlety making fun of all the announced PS4 delays by pointing out Wii U is getting this delayed?
I second the hope for a 90s Arcade Racer update.
With the MK DLC #2 and Splatoon right around the corner, not too concerned with Project Cars coming later to Wii U. But . . . where is all the actual gameplay footage (from any version)??
Watch this garbage get delayed for the forth time or more. And about the Wiiu version there just showing footage for the other versions! Why? Are they going to do what Ubisoft did? With Watch dogs?If they are don't blame us,for the game selling like garbage.
Wouldn't it be fun if the Slightly Mad Studios suddenly turned up and said, "Look here, the Wii U version is ready as we have been working on this the longest, but the others have to wait a bit more" - Ooops, you caught me daydreaming :/
If we ll get it on Wii U at all, it will be a crappy port.Though I still doubt this will ever see the light of day, no matter what they say.
I have a Wii u and a ps4. Even though I know the ps4 version will look better, I'll still pick it up for Wii u just to support the console. I haven't played a realistic racer in a long long time. Also, I think it would be awesome if this game got amiibo support!
I will see, depends on how it plays, Wii U def needs alternative racers so it's a welcome inclusion, but time will tell how it all plays out.
PC version for me. No use getting a multiplat that's going to be better on my PC and having to wait months for a Wii U release. Nintendo's IPs and the random third-party Nintendo platform exclusives are all I need to justify my Nintendo purchases.
EDIT: That said, I wish the NL guys would address the fact the PC version is also due out at the same time as the console versions (mid-May). Had to check Steam myself to make sure we didn't get pushed back too.
I will be skeptical of it's Wii U release until I see it on store shelves.
The delay will be worth it if the Wii U version can launch alongside a system update that allows for compatibility with steering wheel controllers such as the G27.
Very excited about this one. I've always been a fan of this type of progression, like the TOCA/Race Driver series over the make money and buy cars system in GT and Forza.
I'm also excited for this, hope it really happens! Although if it was released on PS3 like it was originally intended I might have gotten it on that since I have a wheel. As it stands I will get this on Wii U for sure...too bad we don't have analog triggers though!
Ever since Bamco took over publishing, the graphics level has dropped quite noticeably...
@hugo_octorok
Maybe if we're lucky they'll add Gamecube controller support for analog trigger support.
I feel like the cars are going really slow.
@Avahne
That would be incredible, I might just send an email to Slightly Mad to show people want this. I don't know how hard it would be for them to implement it though
I guess the "pre-order now for modified car pack" applies to all versions? ....I'm kinda on the fence about pre-ordering this game on Wii U.
If I get this, it'll be on PS4 as the Wii U version will likely be inferior. Not to mention it'll be out on PS4/Xbox/PC earlier anyway.
@AVahne "Ever since Bamco took over publishing, the graphics level has dropped quite noticeably..."
I was thinking the same thing while watching the trailer. Which means Wii U's graphics downgrade will be that much more noticeable. I'm not all about the graphics but with a game of this nature, I'd sure hope they're the best quality.
this is going to be great.
like everyone else i am surprised that its taken more than six months to make such a simple game. also the fact that there was once water on mars suggests the wii u version might only be playable while standing on your head, sucking your thumb
Got to pay the bills, get it on as many platforms as possible.
I'm glad the Wii U version is still coming.
One way to shut up the Xbone and PS4 fan boys is say PC is 12k resolution. Say you are better than the Wii U now when you cant even beat a PC
@Alucard83 Rage Racer is an arcade racer. Regardless if this is as good as Gran Turismo 6 on PS3 Wii U gamers will be in for a treat.
@AVahne That would be nice. In my opinion Nintendo really screwed up using digital triggers - probably saved 0.01p in manufacturing each system. This catastrophic error along with an old resistive 480p touch screen really destroyed the Wii U at launch.
The Wii U Gamepad is like a swiss army knife without the knife and corkscrew lol. The Wii U is a great concept poorly executed due to Nintendo cutting everything to the bone.
Don't get me wrong though I love the Wii U and think the Gamepad is excellent, it's screen quality is also very good in my opinion and Nintendos cartoon games look fantastic in HD... It just could have been so much better!
Normally, I am not a fan of racing games, but racing online on Watch Dogs changed my mind. Hopefully there's random people voice chat during the races like on Watch Dogs.
Really want a NASCAR Wii U game. Wish it were included as a series in this one. And/or maybe even ARCA.
At the very least, I hope the cars are damage-able, and realistic at that. Even when they ran into each other in this trailer, I dont believe I saw any car take damage, which is disappointing. To me, anyway. I have those days where I just wanna cause a bug wreck and have parts flying everywhere
(Still waiting for a solid release date)
Looking forward to getting this on the Wii U hopefully turns out good & gets good reviews. But not releasing at the same time as other platforms is always a downer just look at what happened with Watch dogs on Wii U ekk.
Is it just me or does this look like another modern generic racing game? Id rather get a 90s generic racing game. When is 90s Arcade Racer released?
I'm interested to see how they port this to wiiU. It is a bit worrying that we haven't seen a single screenshot yet, let alone a video of it on the console yet
I doubt I'll pick this up but I'm also skeptical that this will be released for the Wii U. These games shouldn't get any attention on Nintendo sites until they have a wii u specific trailer or wii u gameplay. Period. Otherwise, they're just getting free advertisement for other systems for a game that will probably never see the light of day on the wii u. Same thing with Fast Racing incidentally
I feel it should release on Wii U first. If it's good it'll do alright on the PS4 , Xbox One. Coming out later on Wii U only hurts it . Then the developers will blame Wii U owners for poor sales. But why would you want to wait for an inferior version (I'm guessing) when you could buy it a few months sooner if you own multiple consoles ? The Wii U version seems to be getting no love as there are no videos or pictures showing the game on the Wii U. I'd pick it up on Wii U if it was close to being as good as the other consoles as it might be intresting to see how the game pad works with this game. But I'll probably pick it up for PS4 as it'll be the safest bet at being the best version (on home consoles) I just wish theyed show anything running on Wii U ...
The Wii U version is certain to fail. If someone is really interested in this game (me), they would have got it on other platforms already(ps4) by the time it comes out for the Wii U. This is just another Watch_Dogs situation.
@Hy8ogen I think it will come out at the same time but 720 p at 60 frames per second and download only for Na retail eu like what namco did with one piece
@faint If that's true then it would be great. Where did you get that info? So far I haven't read or heard anything about the Wii U release.
@Hy8ogen it just make sence. why not call it a delay at this point? why not cancel? why keep the logo up with no box for a norfh american trailer? it just makes sence. as far as the 720p these guys do take pride in what they do but i dont think the wiiu could run something like this in 1080 p. i doubt they wouls sacrifice fps tho. call this a really well thought out educated guess.

Ctrl + F, "Wii U" = 0
Were waiting! Can't wait it looks great!
I hope this game is more Forza or Gran Turismo 3 than Gran Turismo 5. GT5 was just... ugh... made me sad.
I'll be racing to the store when this releases
