Re: Review: Metroid Dread (Switch) - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

Sparrowhawk

There are some issues I have with the game, chiefly the original soundtrack being rather forgettable and not up to Metroid standards of excellence. But what absolutely trumps everything here, is how f*cking perfect the game feel is. It's just leagues above any other metroid game in the gameplay department. Samus allows you to feel like such a badass once you master the moveset. It's the one Metroid game I'm constantly compelled to replay every few months just for how good it feels to play. Definitely a masterpiece in its genre.

Re: The 3DS & Wii U eShops Have Officially Closed, Purchases "No Longer Possible"

The 3DS eShop felt like a fun experience every time. From the loading screen, the lovely background music, the fun download animations. So full of personality and charm.
It was almost like going through a toy store as a kid.

It's a shame that all we get from Nintendo now is a sterile, laggy AF alternative filled to the brim with garbage shovelware.
Different era I guess.

Re: Talking Point: Should We Be Worried About Screen Burn-In With Switch OLED?

Sparrowhawk

Nintendo can’t even get their joysticks right. And when confronted about it, they deny it.

So I wouldn’t trust them to magically come out with a superior screen to what’s already out there and known to cause issues. And they sure as heck won’t address it when it’s time.

If my OG Switch does give out any time soon, I might just go and buy the existing V2 models since internally they’re the exact same thing.

Re: No More Heroes III Switch File Size Seemingly Revealed

Sparrowhawk

Pretty much every single piece of footage that’s been shown of this game looked and ran like total dogsh*t.
I’m pretty tolerant of Switch’s lower res releases since I still appreciate the novelty of it’s portable nature, but damn.. so far this has been among the ugliest exclusives for the platform.
The first game on the PS3 looked infinitely better than this! HOW?
I know people say “oh but it’s only a demo from an earlier build”.. and yet they delayed the game once already and chose to quietly show it during Treehouse mere months before release.

I have serious doubts.

Re: Dragon Quest XII: The Flames Of Fate Is Running On Unreal Engine 5

Sparrowhawk

@EliteXeos
So by your logic.. The Switch supports the RE engine. So RE Village is practically confirmed for Switch!!!! Oh boy!
Or have you entertained the possibility of the next DQ going more ambitious and pushing next gen while supporting the PS4 as the lowest common denominator. So instead of spouting baseless assumptions as facts.. let’s wait and see instead perhaps?

Re: Control: Ultimate Edition Is Available Now On Switch, But There's A Catch

Sparrowhawk

Great. So this is probably how Nintendo will carry on with 3rd parties on Switch. People said Witcher 3 was impossible. Yet Saber Interactive took the time and effort to deliver us a great port of a game we can now play anywhere.
How about this sh*t? Play anywhere.. unless you're not around wifi. Then don't play at all. If they want to completely undermine the portability of the Switch, then why even bother calling it a portable? That's what home consoles are for.
Oh and how about trusting your game library to a bunch of independent publishers to run their servers flawlessly 24/7 for years to come.. until they decide the money well has run dry and they just cut support..in which case you're left with nothing. I sincerely hope people don't jump into this so we can have some bit of hope left for dedicated AAA switch ports. But we can trust publishers to take the lazy way out and Nintendo to not give two sh*ts about game preservation.

Re: Evidence Of Resident Evil 3: Cloud Version For Nintendo Switch Seemingly Uncovered

Sparrowhawk

@hadrian We already know Nintendo doesn't give to sh*ts about game preservation. They're asking us to continuously pay a subscription to enjoy a bunch of ROMS while taking down websites that care to preserve them. Same as what happened to virtual console. Poof, gone.
If this is Nintendo's answer to 3rd party support, I'm completely done with them.
Nintendo Switch: "Play Anywhere...unless you don't have wifi around. Then don't play at all "

Re: Evidence Of Resident Evil 3: Cloud Version For Nintendo Switch Seemingly Uncovered

Sparrowhawk

If this is how they will carry on with 3rd party support for nintendo I'm out. We all said Witcher 3 would never work, same with Doom, Wolfenstein, and many others. Yet they put in time, care and effort and pulled it off.
You get a portable version of some of the best games from this Generation on the GO. WTF is this now? "Play anywhere..unless you don't have Wifi around. Then don't play at all." You are paying full price for a bunch of games being streamed off a server by a publisher who will safeguard your investment 24/7, for years to come? Are people going crazy? If this cloud horsesh*t completely undermines the portability of the Switch, then why bother at all? There's home consoles for a cheaper price that play these things natively. AND give you the option to carry on playing on a variety of other devices for the same price. This effectively makes the Switch LESS accessible than any other console in the market, despite touting to be a hybrid. What a rip-off
