Capcom has been on a bit of a roll in recent years. There have been multiple notable releases, but the company's success in making Monster Hunter and Resident Evil current-day must-haves has helped deliver its profits to new heights. Monster Hunter: World was undoubtedly a Western breakthrough for the IP on PS4 / Xbox One and PC, while there've been a glut of quality high-selling Resident Evil releases.
The latest financial year results are out and, unsurprising, Monster Hunter Rise features prominently as a major contributor to Capcom's profits. The company states that it's the "fourth consecutive year of record-high profit at all levels in company history", with the Switch-exclusive contributing over four million sales up to 31st March - that total is now beyond six million and it's likely already the company's best-selling single-platform game ever. Other major releases that helped Capcom reach its targets were Resident Evil 3 and ongoing sales of World and its Iceborne expansion.
Capcom is projecting that it'll set new records in this new financial year, no doubt aided by titles like Resident Evil Village, the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and the planned PC release of Monster Hunter Rise in early 2022.

Thank god my friends convinced me to buy this game. I have always been intimidated by the series and after investing a good 10 hours into figuring out how all the little systems work, I am thoroughly addicted. Had no interest in Stories 2 but now I am ready to snatch up any spin off Capcom wants to throw at me. BUY THIS GAME EVERYONE!
Yes they are on a role for once embracing new and old.
Tho. Would love to see some remakes/ sequels to some of the Capcom Dreamcast titles
Ps. Just need a new final fight in the style of Streets of rage 4
I just love that a company is doing so well without using a 'game as a service' or 'free-to-play' model.
The development of their RE-engine is really doing them a service here
Keep the ball rollin', Capcom.
Bring on RE Switch.
@Lord If the Capcom leak is to be believed, they will be releasing a new Final Fight in the next couple of years.
Monster Hunter Rise is a amazing game, the best game of the franchise so far, anxioly wanting for the 3.0 update of Monster Hunter Rise.
Capcom is releasing GOTY like game one after another, very different for the PS3/Xbox 360 era when they are in a downfall era, waiting for them to reveal and release the rumored timed exclusive Resident Evil for Switch and the next Monster Hunter.
Monster Hunter Rise doing all this on one system. RE village on 5 systems could not produce the numbers that rise did. heard the pc version was the biggest seller, not so much for ps4 ps5 Xbox 1 or series x. maybe capcom needs to take RE evil back to it's roots. the action style does not fit the series in my opinion.
I wish Capcom had waken up earlier and not doing tests with us and bringing titles to check if they would sell ! I hope one day to see Zack & Wiki 2 because low sales in Wii does not mean that a second title will sell the same. It may sell good enough if they will care about it and have AAA quality.
@Kaori-chan yes. New AA exclusive for NS would be best imo
Why can’t Capcom bring any of the new RE titles to switch? At least a cloud version would be better than one or just release the original PS1 versions of RE 2 and RE 3. Also capcom, can you please release Code Veronica X, Darkside Chronicles, and Umbrella Chronicles too on switch?
Capcom released 30 titles on the Dreamcast in a 3 year period!
I’d like to see them revive some of these for the switch.
I love this game and i fully back more support from Capcom but lets be honest now, they kinda waited long enough.
We were getting old over priced ports for a good 4 years until this game dropped, Capcoms support of the Switch before Rise was a total joke, selling us shoddy ports of old games at knock off prices.
Many of it digital only as well, they gave us over priced ports of Devil May Cry and Re4 (with no gyro?) Before this.
Look im all on board the Capcom train but it took them 4 years to do something, compared with the support they gave the 3DS and the Wii U, they still have some work to do in my eyes.
@Razer I felt like Capcom started changing its mind before Rise came out anyway. For one thing, they reduced the prices on RE games on switch from 30 to 20 dollars, the same on other platforms.
Also not every game from Capcom is overpriced, for one thing the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney trilogy was at 30 dollars for all platforms so there's that.
Yeah, they have some work to do but many of their ports were pretty decent and I own RE 1, RE 4 on my switch along with MH Rise
I still need to buy this game, I hope by the end of next month.
@Diogmites I've done many times Bionic Commando, I know it by heart. One of my top games so far.
"Have you been enjoying Capcom's releases in recent times?"
To say yes would be an understatement. Capcom has been absolutely killing it lately. Ever since Resident Evil 7, they have just been knocking it out of the park.
The true winner of the World vs. Rise console war is Capcom. Close runners-up: Monster Hunter fans.
@anoyonmus is that why in March 2020 they gave us a £20 port of a mobile game that is free on IOS?
And the inevitable MH Rise Ultimate release.
I need that in my life so much
Big turn around for Capcom starting with RE 7 in 2017, it was going through some real difficult times around 2012-16. Great to see, been a fan of Capcom going back to when I first played Street Fighter 2 on my friend's SNES over Christmas break 1992.
Deserves all the success.
I can't wait for G rank.
Gotta admit, Capcom is is doing better than most publishers these days. They seem to have genuine respect and love for their own franchises. The quality really shows.
I’ll be there for MH Stories 2 for sure. Looks like such a charming game.
@Razer I am super glad that we have so many legacy RE titles on one portable, though. It was my first real opportunity to try RE Remake and it’s become one of my favourite games ever.
I fully agree with your complaints though.
Ok Capcom sooooo now can we get a new..
Please, ASAP & Respectfully.
... Wun can only hope.
