Re: Hands On: Is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's Switch 2 Port The Most Ambitious Yet?

Sonicka

@Yoshi3 1000% this. FFVI is simply a much better game (and story) in honestly.

I was never entirely sold on FFVII after lots of false starts (and I didn’t particularly enjoy the ending either when I got there). I only really decided to play it in advance of the Remake trilogy as I enjoyed the original demo a lot). I see why it has its fans and a whole spinoff of films and side games of course, so it is nice to see them revisit it in another way for a new audience.

The Crisis Core: FFVII Reunion remaster was also surprisingly fun for what it was, and is definitely worth playing before Rebirth for Zack’s tale alone 🙂

Re: Hands On: Is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's Switch 2 Port The Most Ambitious Yet?

Sonicka

Considering we know that the FFVII Remake trilogy is basically a side step sequel to the original FFVII, I would wholeheartedly recommend playing the OG game first if you really want to get the most out of this new trilogy.

Certain plot scenarios and threads heavily emphasise how and why some of the story takes entirely different turns compared to the OG, since a lot of this is about defying fate

That said, Rebirth is still a modern marvel and running well on Switch 2 even more so. Now that we’re set free from the story tunnel driven aspect of Midgar (which had to be done this way TBH), letting loose and exploring the open world biomes and detailed cities is absolutely fantastic. If anything the approach taken is more akin to the Xenoblade Chronicles series more than anything else, which really helps to stop it from feeling like that typical open world Ubisoft bloat IMO.

Re: Rumour: A Metroid Movie May Become A Reality As Two Studios Battle For Rights

Sonicka

@Shepdawg1 Yes, 100% - exactly where my mind went too!

Metroid may make the most sense to some degree in live action - but I think a stylised animation move would mean it would benefit from showing off Samus' full potential in combat with some dynamic set pieces, it would also mean there's less of a loss of cost cutting for expensive sets and crap CGI.

Re: Miyamoto Thanks Fans For Watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Sonicka

@harrystein can't say I agree with that (apart from that the franchise will continue to juggernaut based on IP alone), but each to their own.

As for Sonic? Personally, I think these are much better than the Mario movies. They got the kid jokes and whatnot, but they also got decent character arcs and heart meaning you actually care about the characters.

I mean, if we are really using the RT scores as a measuring facility, the Sonic movie critics scores are higher, and the audience ratings are higher still, these increase with each sequel and by Sonic 3 we're at 86% / 95% ...so it's pretty undeniable that this franchise is better received overall. The fact that it had a series spinoff, a fourth film, and has another film spinoff in production shows it has everything and more going for it if you ask me, so I don't really know what you are talking about.

There's space for both Mario and Sonic properties on the market at the end of the day, liking one more than the other doesn't change the fact that Mario is more successful commercially, and Sonic is more successful critically, but really? They both sell and do well so fans and Nintendo / SEGA alike are eating well.

Re: Miyamoto Thanks Fans For Watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Sonicka

@harrystein I don’t really rate a lot of Disney stuff - but I can at least follow what’s going on.

Right now I’m of the opinion that it’s Sony Animation and Dreamworks that are hitting it out of the park with their animated efforts, they are evolving with the times, the animated quality has increased with new framework techniques, and most importantly they respect the audiences integrity regardless of age.

Illumination has been stuck in the same rut for… well, ever… and their winning formula - whilst successful - is stale, hence poorer reviews for a lower quality output.

Their Mario films were very clearly designed for the TIKTOK generation (by which I mean, something new needs to be happening every 30 seconds) which obliterates the story pacing. Visually, it’s definitely exciting, but I really don’t care for any of it except recognising all the easter eggs on a nerdy level. On that note, the level of attention to detail with references I will say is second to none, buuut when the best thing I can take away from it is that… then it isn’t great.

Even Yoshi was done pretty dirty. A very quick intro sequence later and he’s just there for the rest of the move like he’s been there since the last film. I get that this is the joke… but it also highlights the weaknesses of the story pacing. I think half the issue is that they really shouldn’t have shifted to Galaxy so quickly and instead focused around Super Mario World & Yoshi’s Island, OR went back to the real world for a longer sequence to see what Mario and Luigi left behind after their battle with bowser (and how the world has changed since, rather than the this lens view for a Yoshi skit).

But they reeeeaally wanted to go for the big guns straight away (and sell more copies of Galaxy 1 & 2). So hey ho.

I’m just saying that whilst I don’t think Galaxy is terrible, I think it deserved better. Glad you enjoyed it though 🙂

Re: Miyamoto Thanks Fans For Watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Sonicka

@Anti-Matter I mean… good for you if you enjoyed it that much. More power to ya

@harrystein whilst I don’t rate Frozen, the quality assurance in movies like this and Zootopia (and if you extend the bar out to LEGO, Sony animation studios, and even Dreamworks recents efforts - these are all on point and at least have a coherent narrative to follow along too. It’s a shame Nintendo didn’t partner up with one of these teams.

Illumination (whilst very popular for the kids films) are rarely “good” kids movies and more just generic crowd pleasers because they don’t have to try.

@LastFootnote Couldn’t have put it better ✌️

Re: Miyamoto Thanks Fans For Watching The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Sonicka

@harrystein @tatsumi audience ratings can also be just as uncredible TBF.

IMHO, the critics are pretty on point with the Mario moves, they are pretty garbage, but enjoyable garbage.

Ultimately, it’s ok for a film to be fun and enjoyable but also be bad in quality at the same time - this didn’t hurt how well it did at the end of the day, so there no loss for either party in terms of move tickets sold and more commercial advertising of the IP and games.

The only real loss is Nintendos integrity for allowing glorified reference slop to grace our screens… but damn is it still hella better than the 90’s live action effort at least.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Play Zelda Games For The Story?

Sonicka

Whilst I don’t usually play Zelda games for the story specifically, it’s BOTW & TOTK that have pushed the series to another level with an engaging story and memorable characters, plenty of background subtext (and in TOTK’s case) a real engaging narrative with superb world building that builds and follows on from its predecessor. Really… it’s the only reason I bothered to even tackle the Hyrule Warriors spinoffs because I just. needed. more.

Typically though, I’ve not worried all that much about the story apart from the lore building stuff which is always fascinating to follow in the background. I think as long as the fantasy world and puzzles are engaging and you can get lost in it - then I’m all in regardless.

Re: It Sounds Like Peach's Mario Galaxy Movie Backstory Will Be Canon In Future Games

Sonicka

I mean, storybook or no (and not forgetting an entire rewrite of the universe at the end-game anyway if you really want to canon / retcon / actually follow the literal non-plot between Mario titles)... this makes sense if they are trying to bring some cohesiveness between the two mediums.

But TBH, Peach and Rosalina's visual similarities always made me assume that there must have been some familial connection anyway (or that this was the Galaxy's original vision at one stage during development).

I don't think it really matters in the grand scheme of things if it's ever addressed in future games properly, but it's cool nonetheless.

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Zero Is 10 Years Old - Have You Actually Played It?

Sonicka

I loved it, but the controls do take time to adjust as it’s not your usual setup, but… it does work when you understand what they were going for.

In general though, Zero is a fantastically authentic Starfox game that is often looked back on as the “worst” - but usually this stems from people that never played it because of hearsay, OR because they think it’s yet another remake of ‘64 which… it kinda isn’t really except in premise, otherwise the gameplay and levels are entirely different and unique to Zero.

Personally, I think that it really deserves a second lease of life with a regular control scheme (and for those that missed the game from not owning a WiiU).

That said… new title also please Nintendo!

Re: Feature: "A Huge Balancing Act" - Playtonic Spills The Beans On Yooka-Replaylee's Massive Switch 2 Update

Sonicka

@Stormcloudlive having played both the original Yooka Laylee release on Switch 1, and then Yooka Replayleee straight after - I can tell you why you can’t transfer your save - they are for all intents and purposes two very different games.

Replaylee may be a Remake of the original, but it’s told from an abridged perspective of Yooka & Laylee remembering their first adventure, with stuff that didn’t work in the original game removed or reworked entirely as well as a boat load of brand new content and side levels. Even how pagies are collected and attributed is very different here 🙂

Re: Feature: "A Huge Balancing Act" - Playtonic Spills The Beans On Yooka-Replaylee's Massive Switch 2 Update

Sonicka

Lovely interview, I think it certainly helps to highlight that a lot more goes on behind the scenes than most gamers and commenters actually realise when they claim to understand game development and call out devs for “laziness” and such.

On that note, the tongue in cheek video on their socials announcing the 60FPS update was class 🤣

I can’t wait to see what comes next, Yooka-Replaylee is a very high quality indie 3D platformer, and one that massively changes the experience from the original game into something much more noteworthy.

Re: "Are You High?" – Xbox Co-Creator Believes Whatever Nintendo Makes Next Is Far More Interesting Than Project Helix

Sonicka

I still have a lot of love for the WiiU - much like the Gamecube it had an excellent (but small) selection of games that truly made it standout:

  • Mario Kart 8 - The longest serving in the franchise saw it's launch on WiiU
  • Mario 3D World - an excellent 3D multiplayer Mario experience
  • Starfox Zero - unpopular opinion, but the concept was novel
  • Doney Kong Tropical Freeze - Best in the franchise
  • Xenoblade X - Some still say this is the best in the genre
  • Sonic Lost World - also an unpopular opinion, but the game is a criminally underrated 9/10 experience
  • Yoshi's Wooly World - Why has this still not been ported to Switch?
  • Zelda The Wind Waker HD / Twilight Princess HD - two of the best HD remasters with some nicely integrated gamepad mechanics.
  • Hyrule Warriors - this series got it's launch on the platform
  • Zelda Breath of the Wild (might have also been a Switch launch, but we know it was designed for the Wii U in mind ultimately)

And lest we forget others like Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Nintendo publishing Bayonetta 2, Nintendoland etc...

The WiiU as a console and concept failed, but it failed so badly that Nintendo's revision and diversion to the Switch could succeed.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Pragmata

Sonicka

Played the Demo on PS5 and was instantly sold on this one (surprisingly).

What caught me off guard was how much I enjoyed the Hacking and Shooting combo gameplay - this is a winning innovative twist that puts your mind to work on the fly, and I didn’t expect it to gel as cohesively as it did with my brain.

Re: Feature: Life, Horror, And A Bit Of Zelda - Why 'Neverway' Is One Of Our Most Anticipated Games Of 2026

Sonicka

I remembered this from one of the Nintendo Direct showcases and as soon as the Demo appeared (on Steam at least) I had to give it a go.

Beautiful pixel art style (not surprised given the art director) and it has a lowkey compelling and haunting story with some real interesting gameplay twists. Admittedly I was a little bit worried about the life sim aspects as this usually isn’t my thing, but it’s quite light and has a touch of other genres thrown into the mix that are right up my RPG alley.

Never(way) have a wishlisted a game as fast as this!

Re: Holy Moly, The Eternal Life Of Goldman Is Looking Really Darn Good

Sonicka

Just played the Demo on Steam. Thoroughly impressed. The visuals, voice acting and music production quality are something else. The base gameplay is like Shovel Knight (or Ducktales) and dials it up with some thoughtfully neat mechanics that will no doubt have me coming back to levels once further upgrades are unlocked on the adventure. You even have to consider degrading your upgradable staff (on the fly) to make it past bosses and platforming sections. The demo is clearly just is the tip of the iceberg, but it has impressively thoughtful level design that really meshes into the overall visual style and animation going on around you.

Re: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Is Already Breaking Box Office Records

Sonicka

Expected. Especially the RT scoring - The IP sells, critics yell fowl and the audience of course, shill.

The arguments being made over the quality or the story are completely misappropriated to sow discourse and engagement online as ever.

The way I see this is that there’s nothing wrong at all with enjoying this movie, and as a popcorn blockbuster it fits that bill. The issue also isn’t that it needs to be a cinematic masterpiece, this isn’t what critics are saying. The problem is when it’s “Reference: The Movie” without substance, and that it has a lot of animated competition out there that make for much better kids movies (which cannot be said for a lot of Illuminations offerings in general tbh).

So this odd cry out of “but it’s a kids film” or “it’s Mario, what do you expect?” is IMO a pretty hollow argument to be made, as that is basically saying “I expect mediocrity and have settled”.

There are some real incredible animated films out there with stories to tell and meaningful things to say that can appeal to the masses and kids alike. The fact that Illumination dropped the ball on this twice is either astoundingly naive (doubt) or a deliberate choice to focus all efforts on Easter eggs (ding ding!) is because they know people will lap it up and bring it home for them at the box office.

TL;DR - the Mario movies defo ain’t terrible, and it’s ok for them to just be OK - but also don’t sell your soul short on the defence line just because it referenced your favourite things. Illumination know exactly what they are doing to get bums on seats

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Sonicka

@Krlozgod I mean, you laugh at this - but you only need to look at both critic and audience scoring combined to see that there really is no competition - Sonic pretty clearly pulls ahead of Mario in the critical reviews and audience reception combined. 3 movies down, 1 TV spinoff, a 4th impending film and a spinoff film in the works isn’t slowing down that successful juggernaut.

That said - it won’t change Mario outperforming Sonic at the box office overall, that’s a given.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Sonicka

Why is anybody really that surprised by the mid to low scoring and reception?

The first film was just Super Mario Reference: The Movie, so the second one was only going to go harder on that front with overstuffed Mario Easter egg goodness at the trade-off of a film with lack of heart - the trailer and posters even indicated as such. To this day I still find it amusing that the first film barely features Luigi and it’s called the Mario Bros movie.

Regardless, does it really matter? At the end of the day the movie is still going to pass a billion at the box office and do well for Nintendo.

And on the flip side, we can at least rely on the Sonic Franchise to deliver in the overall story and character engagement department where this one falters.

Re: There's A New Zelda Art Book Coming Out, And It Looks Awesome

Sonicka

At last!!! Been waiting so long for this 😃

Definitely going for the Hero’s Edition - one of few books I would happily pay out extra for.

The Champion’s edition for Breath of the Wild with the Spirit Orb, felt map, and Photo of the Champions was similarly incredible.

Really shows off just how much creative thought, lore and artwork was put into this era of Zelda games ❤️m

@ParrakerriRush They are called The Secret Stones. (Not the most imaginative of names I’ll readily admit) 🤣

Re: "There's Exciting Stuff Coming" - Sonic's Voice Actor Teases 35th Anniversary Celebrations

Sonicka

@RoboCube exactly!

I love those games, but it has been too long now. Bar the common thread of the Chao garden, the difference in gameplay and approach between Adventure 1 & 2 is structurally quite different, if not refined and iterative in what it kept. S o much to say that Sonic 2K6, Unleashed, and even Frontiers may as well be Adventure 3, 4 and 5 in all but name anyway since the same approach applied.

Suffice to say if Sonic Team went back and made "Sonic Adventure 3" I don't think that there is really a specific gameplay element or foothold they could take root in to branch out from.

If they wanna keep old-skool fans really happy, then just implement a new Chao Garden element into the next game.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo's 2026 Plans Include New Star Fox & Zelda Remake, No 3D Mario

Sonicka

@Yoshi3 “like Zelda should be” is a bit of a misnomer for the franchise now. IMO just take the best of both worlds and evolve it (like Echoes).

The problem Nintendo will have with “going back” to that specific routine formula is that indies and third parties are already all over it (and frankly, often iterate and do it better).

For OOT as a “Remake” (especially as OOT 3D exists already) would be to try to approach it with a new direction, whilst keeping what made it work as a baseline.

When I say “Breath of the Wildify” - what I mean moreso is the grander scope and feeling of exploration that can now be added to the world that just wasn’t possible back on N64 hardware limitations. It doesn’t have to be as “open air” as BOTW, but the larger gaming fields of Zelda (think WW, or even TP) have always been more appealing IMO as they give the greater sense of adventure. They should definitely ensure that the story, items and all such things are still located in the same areas, with no breakable weapons, and dungeons and layouts that are similar if not the same. But what I would hope is that the world of Hyrule is bigger, the items you unlock in the dungeons don’t just act as gatepasses to new places but give more for your measure in the gameworld, and other obvious QOL improvements (and voice acting to boot).

Basically just give OOT a worthy remake, not just a HD reskin like all those Unreal Engine demos have done over the years 🙂

Re: Rumour: Nintendo's 2026 Plans Include New Star Fox & Zelda Remake, No 3D Mario

Sonicka

Here for Ocarina of time if it is actually a proper Remake, not here if it’s just another visual remastering like the 3DS game (which actually, makes a potential remake feel less relevant).

That said, if they could Breath of the Wild OOT, in the sense of the geometry and world being less basic and much bigger and more explorative, and less of the item breaking ways, whilst keeping the dungeons in tact and primary mechanics the same, then I would be hella up for a hybrid take on a classic.

But also, just give us the damn Wind Waker / Twlight Princess HD twin pack for Switch now eh Nintendo??

Starfox making a comeback does make sense to happen, especially given the prevalence of the Mario Galaxy Movie reveal

Re: Review: Kena: Bridge Of Spirits (Switch 2) - Old-School Platformer Offers Sumptuous Visuals & Heaps Of Charm

Sonicka

To be honest... "Old Skool Platformer" is not how I would describe Kena, this is much closer to your classic 3D Zelda-like adventure game more than anything else IMO (and given their history with the Majora's Mask animation - it makes sense).

That said - I'm real happy to see this survived the transition over to Switch 2! The game in general always felt much more of a natural fit on a Nintendo console, despite the powerhouse optics of the PS5 and limited exclusivity run that Sony were able to give this indie developer means to get their first game out the door.

Re: Fox McCloud Blasts Into The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Sonicka

Woooah, so that WAS fox in the corner of the trailer. Wowza.

A shame Nintendo (don’t blame NL, they are reporting official comms) let it out of the bag early. But it IS cool and makes sense considering the space theme.

I do wonder if this is Nintendo and illumination trying their dab hand at an MCU approach to drip feed multiple IPs existing in the same universe for future animated projects.

A Smash Bros style Avengers Movie event seems like it might not entirely be off the cards after all…

Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park - Inessential Bells & Whistles

Sonicka

Yup, pretty much reaffirms what most suspected - the “new stuff” is mostly multiplayer, which is largely uninteresting, and the Single Player stuff is merely slightly remixed levels and challenges.

Anything additional (eg, Rosalina, double badges) should just be free in an update rather than paid for content.

It’s a good call out that this review is focused on the new editions rather than the “game as a whole” reviews that seem to populate metacritic.

Overall it’s likely worth getting the Switch 2 edition if you don’t own the base game, but not really worth your time if you are upgrading alone.

Re: Sonic Frontiers "Definitive Edition" Has Been Rated In Korea

Sonicka

Oooh - definitive editions are actually very unusual for the latest 3D Sonic games (if you discount the remasters and “plus” versions). So this is quite interesting to see.

The fact that it’s named this and not “Switch 2 Edition” also makes me wonder if it’s heading for other platforms and what the general improvements will be (or, if it’s just a re-print of all the free DLC roadmap and tweaks they made on the disk / cart).

Re: Epic Games Cuts Over 1,000 Jobs Weeks After Raising Fortnite V-Bucks Prices

Sonicka

So even the juggernaut is affected. Goddamn. But I suppose when the game is FTP and relies on its in store currency skin and battle pass purchases it’s none too surprising.

Fortnite was also one of the most generous in terms of rewards and unlockables you could earn, (in free or paid tiers), so it was bound to hit them at some point.

I still commend all the newer modes they attempted to implement. Rocket Racing is extremely underrated (basically Excitetruck) and it sucks that they weren’t able to find engagement on this Arcady racer as it was awesome. The music festival battle mode i am less surprised is leaving, but at least it isn’t losing its main Rockband mode as thats Harmonix only output as of late.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog 4's Full Movie Cast List Has Been Revealed

Sonicka

Now that’s a stacked casting. I still can’t believe I live in a Timeline where this franchise was massively successful in making it to big screen for 4 movies, and several spinoffs films and shows. Crazy.

@SillyG It’s mighty unusual (although welcome) that they actually kept tails VA from the Sonic games to voice the same character since the end of the first movie.

That said, with the list of stars attached I guess they gotta keep the budget down somewhere 🤣

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Mega Man Next Week, New Update Out Today

Sonicka

Wowser, now that’s one heck of an update to the game.

Even just allowing players to keep playing world matches instead of forcing them into festival mode for 3 days is a biggie here.

Once again, appreciate that Sonic Team / SEGA actually listen to the fanbase feedback to try and cater unlike another well known corporation…

Re: "We Can All Exist At The Same Time" - Zelda Voice Actor Rejects The Need To Pass The Torch

Sonicka

She’s pretty bang on here, there’s always gunna be multiple iterations, and now even a Live Action version.

That said, even after 10 years I’d struggle seeing anyone else inhabit the her role unless it was a different Zelda in another era.

Hopefully they’ll continue to build on the current cast of successful characters for the next mainline instalment on Switch 2.

And whilst I 100% agree that they need move to a new location (one outside of Hyrule) for the open air style of gameplay exploration to continue, I think the smartest move to keep the expanded player base would be building upon this particular era of the world and cast.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Switch 2 Edition Gets A New Overview Trailer

Sonicka

@TerribleTerabytes I know they do, It is allowed to watch the trailer and still not be impressed by the single player offering's on show y’know 😅

Regrettably what I’m after is not what is on show, especially since the focus for this package is multiplayer anyway.

Give me new levels and wonder effects and so forth and I’ll come a callin’. 74 challenges in pre existing levels and a chase for koopaling bosses around the pre existing map is not really what I want to pay £16.99 for.

But that’s just me 😅

To be clear, I am not saying that any of this is bad content - it’s just not something I would personally fork that amount of money out for is all.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Switch 2 Edition Gets A New Overview Trailer

Sonicka

@TerribleTerabytes you've somehow still managed to convince me more that the price is not worth it from reiterating this.

It all depends on the content to price ratio, sometimes this works out in the users favour (see Zelda BOTW, or Mario Kart Booster Pass) or smaller price points like for Animal Crossing switch 2 Edition.

For £16.99 I'm not convinced from the trailer. HOWEVER, I'm willing to be convinced if they really do have a meaty single extra player campaign to run alongside the multiplayer hijinks.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Switch 2 Edition Gets A New Overview Trailer

Sonicka

@TerribleTerabytes probably because you can buy the base game for a little over £35. It’s difficult to justify spending half that price on some (probably neat) extras.

The feeling brewing from a lot of consumers is the leftover sting of last year’s products. Nintendo didn’t do enough to really justify their experimental pricing for other Switch 2 Editions or extra DLC outputs like DK Bonanza, Kirby, Mario Party, or Pokemon ZA and so forth…

This seems very much to be going along the same pricing / reward train.

But hey, if there’s more to this than the latest trailer shows off I’ll willingly eat my metaphorical hat for sure 🙂

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Switch 2 Edition Gets A New Overview Trailer

Sonicka

Honestly, most don’t play Super Mario Bros games for the multiplayer aspect and it’s a shame Nintendo still hasn’t really learnt this over the entire NSMB era.

I love the base game to Wonder and think it is a fantastic package already. My qualms about Rosalina not being included from the start… this offering needs either a whole bunch of new levels / worlds / wonder effects, OR an additional robust single player campaign to make this worth paying £16.99, if not this should just be free.

(I am aware there is a whole koopalings thing to chase across the Flower Kingdom, but the fact that Nintendo seem keener to not show this off and focus on the multiplayer aspects does not give me a lot of hope that there is really much to this campaign).

Re: Review: Blue Prince (Switch 2) - A Masterful Mystery, And One Of The Best Puzzlers Ever

Sonicka

@StorminNorman it is the same, but it feels like you're making this a bigger issue than it needs to be.

I don't really know what you want me to say? I'm sorry? In honestly I put the word "tutorial" in quotation marks because that's what it felt like for me personally when you put what you've learned in reaching Room 46 into greater practise towards the mansion. It won't be true for everyone or every run.

I'm also not really so sure you could necessarily achieve everything before Room 46 either (going from memory), this is why I'm hesitant to really say much more. Every players experience is going to be wildly different in how they play and uncover things, reach room 46, find new mysteries, all sorts.

It's a very layered title for reasons I don't really want discuss further because of the issues you're bringing up here.

Re: Review: Blue Prince (Switch 2) - A Masterful Mystery, And One Of The Best Puzzlers Ever

Sonicka

@StorminNorman @StorminNorman the review literally says:

“You see, you can play Blue Prince solely to uncover the hidden Room 46 and roll credits, but that's just the tip of the iceberg”

This is not really any different to anything I said. I’m sorry if you feel something was spoiled, but I promise I have given nothing of value away beyond saying that the game is simply larger than it first appears to be.

A lot of people have been perplexed over the last year to hear that players have put hundreds of hours into Blue Prince, but the truth is you can either stop at the destined goal, or dive deeper if you want to uncover or explore more. I obviously won’t say anything beyond that, but mostly because the other mysteries (or spoilers if you will) will not make sense without context from playing the game anyway

Re: Nintendo Indie World Showcase March 2026: Every Announcement, Game Reveal, Trailer

Sonicka

@neogyo I hope they can get this one out the door ok after all those recent reports that they need Mina to do well.

After the holy grail of Shovel Knight (which was the gift that kept on giving in the 3DS days), I’m ready and willing to support Yacht Club games day one with Mina. I really want it to succeed for them (and also really want to see their proper Shovel Knight sequel come to fruition in the future).
