Re: Editorial: The Legend of Zelda Offers Youthful, Optimistic Adventures in a Generation of Mature Quests

Excellent article. You just nailed it man.

This is one of the reasons I prefer Japanese games over western games. They keep the joy and sense of doing something good like saving the world, good winning over evil, saving the princess, etc. wereas western develop games like the drama, shock value, etc,,, "you die,,, your character fails at the end,,,, the main character has 2or 3 terrible choices (I am looking at you Mass Effect 3)"... plus Japanese games have the best music and characters overall.

Don't get me wrong, I do play some western developed games, like Mass Effect, or GTA, but they kinda lack that joy of doing something right (except the first 2 Mass Effect games which keep it simple... SPOILER ALERT......... You win, you save the day......END OF SPOILERS) and I am starting to get tired of them.

Western developers need to relax and remember,,,,, these are GAMES..... Not movies,,,, not TV shows... You are participating by controlling a character,,,,,,, winning, living and saving the day should be the first option in a game (AKA Best ending).

Re: Review: Project X Zone 2 (3DS)

@Rei
Well the opening is the song (with lyrics), hence, just like the original version.
As for special mode, there is an SP advance mode for purchase that makes enemies harder and you get more CP and gold, which seems to be an easier version of a mode that you can unlock after beating the game

Also there are challenge stages which I have yet to try

Finally for items, they seem to increase multiple stats (almost all of them) by percentage instead of a fixed amount, but so far (I am in chapter 4) I don't think you really need to buy them. Anything the Doctor sells should be sufficient without resorting to DLC

Re: Review: Project X Zone 2 (3DS)

@Discipledoctor Kinda early to tell (I am in Chapter 4), but he and Maya bring some funny dialogue.

Plus, as a "solo unit", he has block break + a "stun counter" skill which is awesome, especially if the "Pursuit-Cornered" Theme kicks in and you have a boss in front of you with a high block bar

Re: Rare Co-Founder Has No Idea Why Nintendo Didn't Buy The Studio Outright

Solrac1

It would have been cool if the IPs stayed with Nintendo. I loved Perfect Dark, and would have loved to have Joanna Dark as a Smash Sister. Nintendo kinda needs an FPS of their own, that is not either a military shooter or a post apocalyptic thing, and future sci-fy spy stuff is a cool setting for an FPS

Banjo was awesome as well but Nintendo already has platformers

Battletoads could have filled the beat them up genre for Nintendo

And finally Jet Force Gemini the TPS genre (now done by Splatoon)

Re: First Footage Emerges of Bandai Namco's Project Treasure on Wii U

Solrac1

Looks interesting

I wonder if these characters are pre-set or if you can create your own custom character, like Saints Row 3

Also, how is the gunplay?.I wonder how the 2 types of combat are going to balance out. This trailer focuses mostly on melee combat

I hope it's released before the end of the year, or maybe around E3

Re: Dead Or Alive Producer Feels That A Cultural Divide Exists Between Japan And The West

Solrac1

Plain and simple.

Japanese games: fantasy, sexy girls, martial arts, weird cat stuff, killing evil fantasy monsters = Tokyo's the safest city on earth (according to some recent studies and articles)

Western games: violence, explosions, guns, guns and more guns, multiplayer games where the objective is just to kill lots of enemies = shooting in schools, cinemas, gang violence.

I stick with option 1

Re: Feature: How We'd Like to See amiibo Used in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Solrac1

I said before and I'll keep saying it.

Minecraft/landmark/infinty hybrid but with nintendo characters and items and stuff with each amiibo unlocking both characters and their set pieces (ex: Samus unlocks her in the game and give you Metroid themes like computers, elevators, stell walls, etc. Link unlocks his character plus ancien walls, floors, treasure chest, etc.)

Re: Hands On: Wii U GameCube Controller Adapter

Solrac1

@Varoennauraa @mastermp2

Update: I misread.

I though the Wii U could only support up to 2 USB connections at once.

So i should be able to use the adaptor for 4 player gamecube controller but not for 8 (since 2 USB will be used for my hard drive)

Fine with me since I don't think i'll ever have 8 people at my place at once

Re: Talking Point: The amiibo Range Grows, Yet Key Questions Remain

Solrac1

Not to sound like a broken record but, the only thing I want from amiibo is a Landmark/minecraft/infinity type game that uses amiibo. I wanna built a Space station with Metroids or a Hyrule castle but some Fire Emblem elements mixed in. And then be able to use my favorite nintendo characters to explore and jump or fly around this world I created

Re: Nintendo Discusses Plans for amiibo Cards, Franchises Like Animal Crossing Under Consideration

Solrac1

Nintendo needs to do a Minecraft/ landmark/ disney infinity hybrid with Nintendo characters. That could sell a lot of amiibos. I would definitely buy that game (never liked the graphics or artstyle of Minecraft but I am interested in Landmark)

Also, Konami needs to do a YuGiOh NFC game for Wii U and market it with a new YuGiOh show on Nickelodeon (or 4Kids or wherever it is. I am sorry but I am not familiar with the franchise)

Re: Expect To See More Spin-Off Titles Like Hyrule Warriors In 2015, Says Miyamoto

Solrac1

1) Fire Emblen Warriors (like hyrule warriors but with full voice acting with Laura Bailey as Lucina, Matthew Mercer as Chrom)
2) Metroid: Hunted (Samus a bounty hunter on the run from the galactic federation after her last stunt in Metroid 4 aka Fusion). A Mass Effect like game (without the romance) but with Metroidvania elements
3) Metroid hunters (a Destiny type of game but with better story a Metroidvania elements)
4) Nintendo Landmark (like Landmark but with Nintendo theme worlds. Amiibo fully supported
5) Nintendo Detective famicom club (like Phoenix Wright but new elements and the NES game characters)
6) Duck-hunt dog (yes there is a -. A Banjo Kazooie type of game)

Re: Nintendo Returns to Profit as Wii U Sales Show Signs of Life

Solrac1

I am just wondering about next year, since 3rd party support seems almost dead for next year (No COD, nor new Assasins creed, Platinum is busy with Scalebound, no news from Capcom)

2015:
-Splatoon (a sleeper hit or just another good game?)
-Xenoblade Chronicles X (niche market?)
-Zelda Wii U (will sell well but is it 2015?)
-Yoshi wolly world (young audience)
-Mario Maker (budget title, maybe only digital?. May become a big thing with amiibo. Can you imagine Metroid theme stages?)
-Sonic Boom (previews do not look good for this game)

Total 6 "big" games

Unknow/unconfirmed
-Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei (no info just a teaser since 2012)
-Metroid 6(Surprise announcement)
-Starfox (official announcement, but is it 2015?)

Total 9 games for 2015 (with little 3rd party support)

I just hope that there are some surprise announcements
