Re: Review: Dragon Quest Builders (Switch)

Skid

@Anti-Matter I'm the opposite:
1) I love Akira Toriyama's art style. Dragon Ball and DBZ introduced me to anime. Plus, Slime's design is so iconic. Everything Toriyama does is so charming. I even think the skeletons look adorable.
2)I agree on this
3)I like the sound, yeah it isn't the minecraft pop sound, but it is steal a nice sound in my opinion.

@sandman89 I've played through the demo multiple times already. I've finally got a basic format I like, so I'll keep it that way for when the official game comes out. Its been a blast already.

Re: Video: A Speedrunner Has Completed Super Mario World In Under A Minute

Skid

To those who say this isn't speed running,

In the speed running community, there are several different categories. This is one of those categories. Yeah sure, it isn't a 100% run or any % run (which are the two biggest categories) but it still is one even if it has a smaller community. These people, especially Sethbling, are into code and like to see what they can exploit using it. And of course they want to see who can do it faster, which classifies it as speedrunning.

That being said, I find this very boring I don't care about it one bit. XD

Re: Random: Dragon Ball FighterZ On Low PC Settings Gives Us Hope That A Switch Port Could Happen

Skid

@tanookisuit Xenoverse 2 is some good fun. There can be a good amount of grinding when you are trying to unlock moves in the game since you have to get Z ranks on those missions to have a chance to get them. I haven't played a lot online yet other than a raid boss. One out of the five matches I played was laggy to where the boss was hitting me but no one was around.

Watch FighterZ on the low setting was so disgusting though, especially after watching a lot of other videos on it. It really did look like a 3DS title there. Haha.

Re: Former Metroid Prime Developer Reflects On Cut Content From The Trilogy

Skid

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Hey, that sounds familiar. Oh wait! Other M!
Just saying, be careful for what you wish for.

In my humble opinion, metroid prime is the best game of all time. Yes, I put it of Ocarina of Time. The immersion of being in the helmet of Samus was an amazing experience. I do really love the 2D metroid games too. I just don't want another experience like Other M (and for reasons not similar to the internet "masses").

Re: Feature: The Biggest Nintendo Switch Retail Games of 2018

Skid

I didn't vote for Prime 4 just because I don't think it is coming out this year. And saying that, how do you put MP4 on here but not Pokemon Switch as an option? If one was coming out this year I would bet pokemon.

Mine are Kirby, Octopath, and Dark Souls in no particular order.

I've never had a backlog of games to play for just having one system before. Most consoles I've been able to buy games one at a time and play them without feeling I'm missing out. This is the first time in my life (yes, I'm old enough to put the NES on this list) where I don't feel like I or my wallet can keep up with the games coming out.

Re: This Year's Genesis 5 Smash Bros Tournament To Officially Partner With Nintendo

Skid

Is it weird that I hope this isn't to announce a Smash game/port?

If it isn't for the game then this is huge for the Smash competitive scene. Actually being taken seriously by Nintendo and getting to partner with them. Other companies do this, it would be about time Nintendo did this.

I love watching competitive Smash, but I'm good with playing mostly just for fun. So either way I'll be happy.

Re: UK Pricing For Nintendo Labo Is Confirmed

Skid

@AlternateButtons "See this is your problem. This kit isn't geared for us. This is for parents and kids."

Here is the thing, it "technically" is geared to me since I'm a kid at heart. Which they said on their social media it was geared to kids and kids at heart. Also you said the same thing as I did, since it is geared toward kids and I said it would be different if I had one. But yeah, I agree with you on who it is geared too, we're just looking at it from different angles I guess. My problem is the price point, parents look away from the price to give their kids a gift at times. They still don't think the product itself is necessarily worth the price, but their kid is worth "showing love". Yeah, it does follow the high price of other toys of today, but what are those made of? Usually something more durable worth the price(I see this as a week argument on my end though).

Really my problem is, is the content going to be good and/or is there going to be enough of it to pay the asking price. It is Nintendo, so more than likely the content will be good but I still don't know about the amount of content. They need to show more.

Ultimately I wish they would have packed in a download code instead of putting the game on a cart. That alone I would make me willing to pay 30/40 (variety/robot)for the games.

And honestly I'm kind of being devils advocate here. I agree with 100% on your points. I just can see it 100% the other way too.

My mind is all over the place so I'm rambling. Sorry if my comments aren't very cohesive.

Re: UK Pricing For Nintendo Labo Is Confirmed

Skid

Sorry long post!

@AlternateButtons I said might, as in there is a chance. I'm not assuming for a fact they will have little content, I am using the context clues (that currently are available) to see that more than likely the content isn't going to warrant the price tag. I guarantee you there will be less content in these two labo games combined than there is in Mario Odyssey, which each game has the same price tag is Mario. Now I admit that comparing them to Mario isn't fair at all, but still.

Nintendo is essentially charging for the game cart and creativity. Which, to be honest, the creativity part of it I could swallow the price if I had a kid. I just can't justify buying this for myself at the price point on creativity alone.

Plus, lets think about this, if the first variety pack is 69.99 US, then more than likely the next variety pack will be 69.99. That hurts just thinking about it.

I'm hoping the prove me wrong and in variety pack 2 the just give you a the cardboard sheets with a "dlc" code to add to your labo file. Charge 20 bucks a pop so you don't have to keep putting them on game carts.

Don't get me wrong. I love the idea and applaud nintendo for it. The price just scares me and I hope it doesn't fail because of it. And as I think about it, the large amount of the content is going to have to come from the ones like the piano and the bug. Piano because it could be an instrument ;D in getting kids to pick up actual piano and the bug because there are so many games you can come up with on your own. Like sumo that was used to show to the press or racing.

TL;DR - I'm not assuming, I'm using the context of the current information we have and will reevaluate once we have more information on whether it is worth its price tag. Also, I applaud Nintendo for this genius idea.

Re: UK Pricing For Nintendo Labo Is Confirmed

Skid

@SLIGEACH_EIRE I agree it is overpriced. You are paying for (US) 59.99 games that might have less content than 1 2 Switch , and then either an extra 10 or 20 for cardboard and string/rubber bands.

A genius idea that I love, but too overpriced. Although, this is something I'm not interested in buying for myself so I doesn't affect me either.

EDIT: I mentioned this in the other article but sense @AWeirdGlacier mentioned it I just want to reinforce it. Mario Odyssey was also 59.99(US).

Re: Twitter Reacts In Typically Hilarious Fashion To The Nintendo Labo Unveiling

Skid

I'm pretty disappointed with the price. Minus tax, you are paying 59.99 for either game, and then 10.00 for the variety pack and 20.00 for the robot back in the US.
At first I wanted to be mad about the price of the cardboard, but when I really thought about it it isn't really that bad. You get the cardboard plus what looks to be "string" and or rubberbands. Never mind, I don't like those prices that much after typing it out.
But the prices for the the games seems a little absurd to me. How much content is actually going to be in each game. The robot kit essentially costs the same as Mario Odyssey for the game cart alone. Is it going to have anywhere near the content as Mario? I highly doubt it.

EDIT:This actually would be an easy free pack it for the switch if you think about it. Make the bock a few centimeters deeper for a couple of sheets and have an app with a couple of gadgets pre-loaded.

Re: Nintendo Is Announcing "A New Way To Play" Later Today

Skid

"new interactive experience for Nintendo Switch that’s specially crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart."
Looking at this all together eliminates Switch mini, online services, and VC in my opinion.

"experience FOR nintendo switch" means it is for the switch not a new version of it.
"for kids and those who are kids at heart" is in no way referencing paid online services. What kid/kid at heart would be excited for paid online?
"NEW interactive experience" means it wont be VC because it is for old games and this existed on Wii, WiiU, and 3DS.

My guesses would be that it has something to do with motion controls, amiibo, or a miiverse replacement. These aren't even new. We have to start thinking outside of the box people, this is Nintendo remember?!

Re: Feature: Here's What Was Announced During The January 2018 Nintendo Direct Mini

Skid

It met my expectations. I didn't let the hype get to me.

Great time frame for kirby to come out.
Mario tennis with a story mode is very welcome! I hope it leads to mario golf with a story mode.
Dark Souls coming to switch is big to me since I've always been a nintendo gamer, so I've missed out on it.

That is about all there is for me, which is okay. I'm stilling playing splatoon, botw, and xenoverse. I still want to play doom, skyrim, and disgaea 5. This excludes all the current and future indie games.

Re: First Rainway Trailer Features Switch Heavily, Despite It Not Being Listed As A Supported Platform

Skid

@SLIGEACH_EIRE What do you mean by "very unrealistic situation?"
Just curious.

I just automatically assumed they were using either mobile hotspot when she is walking or local wifi when she is indoors with the other two, that is if you were referring to the streaming on the switch on the sidewalk. The mobile hotspot with my phone works well enough.

Now if you are referring to controllers being slapped out of hands then we all know that would have actually resulted in a fist fight in real life.

Re: Feature: What We Expect From The Inevitable January 2018 Nintendo Direct

Skid

This direct is already shaping up to be a disappointment. Too many people expecting too much out of it. If anything it will show more information on the mainline FE, Kirby, and Yoshi games. Then we might see some new minor thing, and a tease. And it will probably close out with this is available as of now thing. I expect no smash and no Metroid, pokemon could be a tease but I doubt it. Temper your desires, as awesome as all this stuff would be I only see a 3% chance of any of it happening.

"So you're telling me there is a chance!"

Re: Random: These N64 Box Art Covers Have Not Aged Well

Skid

I absolutely loved Quest 64. First game I beat before my brother. Yeah, the game was actually pretty bad, especially if you increased the wrong abilities and ended up not learning to heal yourself. Still, great memories of this game.

Re: Nintendo Shares Gamers' Breath of the Wild #ZeldaMoments

Skid

My favorite moment happened just yesterday! I finally started the Hard mode and I ran into the Lynel at night on the great plains. I was able to sneak up on him in the grass. I threw a stalkoblin arm at him and he came and stood right beside me trying to figure out where it came from. I took a screenshot but forgot to do a video. I was laughing so hard about it.

Re: Random: Model Chrissy Tiegen Rants About Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp's "Jerks"

Skid

Haha, really? Did people actually think this was going to be a carbon copy of the main line games?

Of course you have to build these animals something to get them to come to your camp. If a real place doesn't have amenities or amenities you don't like, then you aren't going to go.

Yes it would be better if the villagers had more dialog, but have you looked into how much time it takes to translate all of that? Nintendo isn't going to use a triple a budget on a mobile game for man power in translation of dialog. AC has more dialog than any game I believe.

I had low expectations for this game. Now I'm enjoying it a good bit for a good 15 minutes a day.

Re: Random: Pokémon Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over Pikachu Talking

Skid

@GC-161 haha, really? Just keep on adding criteria. I'm not going to leave you a link, because if you are too lazy to type "pokemon talking" into google then there is no point in discussing this with you.
Besides, did you forget about the new pokemon games already? There is one that literally talks to you all game, but I already know your rebuttal to that.
All in all, I rest my case.

Re: Random: Pokémon Fans Are Losing Their Minds Over Pikachu Talking

Skid

@GC-161 Haha, but I didn't ignore your point. I literally said "Your AC point? Sure..."
I digress though. Your animal crossing point is meant to deflect from the fact that you said there are a set of rules in pokemon that they broke; however, my point still stands that pokemon do talk in both the games and the shows/films. That means they didn't break a rule.
