Re: The Virtual Console Isn't Coming To Switch, Nintendo Confirms

Skid

@ValhallaOutcast This is true and I knew this before commenting. My main point is worrying about if they are going to rotate games out in the current system cycle. For example; I love mario bros 3, but what happens if they rotate it out for something I don't care for? That is my worry, and I know I'd have other options to play it. One of those options is finding a way to play it legally ($), and this other option is to emulate it illegally (free).

Re: The Virtual Console Isn't Coming To Switch, Nintendo Confirms

Skid

I guess my only real concern is if they will rotate these games out; and if so, how often they will rotate the games out. There are certain classic games I wouldn't want to lose, and when the console runs its course and the online services end I would have to hack the system in order to play those classic game on it. What if I'm somewhere where I can't get internet at the time, can I still play those games?

Re: Nintendo And Game Freak's Latest Patent Hints At A New Direction For Pokémon On Switch

Skid

@Krisi Thank you for saying this so I don't have to, haha. Seriously though, if you change those core mechanics for battling you have a spinoff on your hands or just something completely different.

You mentioned LoZ, what about Mario? Its core mechanics are running and jumping. It has been that way longer than Pokemon's basics of battling. Should we change Mario's basics? I don't think so.

@Anti-Matter If you are bored of the current battle system of the main series then pick up one of the many spinoffs.

Re: Hacker Praises Nintendo's Switch Security Efforts, But Says Console Is "Completely Compromised"

Skid

@Zidentia You are correct. I've done some research now and when I was saying "hacking" the real word I should be using is "modding" which is different to an extent but follows a very thin line and also can be illegal. Even my Pac-Man to Ms. Pac-Man example is a little false. The modding of Pac-Man was perfectly legal, but down the road there was legal trouble with royalties and what-not.

Thanks for correcting me.

Re: Hacker Praises Nintendo's Switch Security Efforts, But Says Console Is "Completely Compromised"

Skid

@Anti-Matter
I know your first language isn't English, and even if you are using the word "illegal" correctly what you are putting under illegal is incorrect.

Hacking is against terms and conditions of companies. If you hack your device might be bricked or not allowed to access the internet, etc.

Duplicating Super Mario Bros. and then distributing it for free you at a cost is illegal which means you can be sued, fined, or even do prison time.

Hacking is not piracy.

Hackers created optifine for Minecraft. Optifine makes Minecraft run better on computers and it is not illegal.

Re: It's A Battle Of Sports And Popcorn In This Weekend's Splatfests

Skid

Baseball has always been the most boring sport to me, all you do is watch guys grab at themselves for awhile. Watching golf on TV has more action than watching baseball on TV. Live baseball is still boring, to me it is more about what kind of experience the ballpark can give you than how the game is going.

Watching men's soccer/football is really hard too. They just flop so much it is sad to watch. Women's soccer is so much more fun in my opinion. Can't wait for the world cup. They look like they put so much more effort in the sport instead of acting (like the men).

And yes, my views are very blinded and extreme. I love sports, I took part. I'm just way over critical about them.

I chose soccer.

Re: The Games Industry Reacts To The White House's Violent Games Showreel

Skid

I'm going to play devil's advocate here, and I want you all to know that it doesn't necessarily dictate what my opinion is.

Now that that is said, does anyone remember when the show "Jackass" became a thing? Once it was out more teens and pre-teens started acting like idiots and tried to do similar things (key word "more". some kids acted this way before the show). Kids were influenced by the show. What about wrestling like nWo? Kids and teens watched this and would try to imitate those moves with friends cause injuries which sometimes would be fatal.

So what is my point? Kids and teens are influenced by different mediums. We can't sit here and say 100% that violent games won't or don't influence these peoples in a negative or destructive way. Even though I don't agree with @Anti-Matter all the way, parents need to take his approach and do research. On top of that when their kids do play games, parents need to find time to watch and talk about these games with their children and make sure they understand what is going on and how that translates to real life.

That being said, I hate censorship of medias. In my opinion video games aren't what cause mass shooting. I live in the states. I'm actually from Southern Arkansas and grew up around guns used for hunting. I don't like the phrase "guns don't kill people, people kill people." I wan't you to understand. Guns were created to kill. Whether it be people or animals, that is what they are created for. This country has a gun problem that is spilling into countries to the south of us and effecting them as well. I'm not for getting rid of guns completely. Like I said, I grew up hunting which put food on the table and saved money long term for a lower class family I was a part of. We had pump action shotguns and bolt action rifles. In my opinion there is no point in semi-automatic weapons for people. If you are a hunter that thinks they need a semi, all I can say is get good because if you miss a shot on a deer then most of the time they'll start to run. If you can't hit something static then you sure can't hit a moving target.

However, I think this country is already to far in its problem with guns. There are too many illegal guns floating around now to do something about. If we started cracking down it would be another war on drugs and continue to push more illegal guns to other places. If we create hard laws on guns I truly believe it would just be another war on drugs. Sure it has done "some" good, but there will be a lot of wasted time and efforts. This country is going to have to slowly take laws from other countries and put them in place, but this country is all about "black and white" and "right and wrong". You are either against or for, you can't partially do anything. This is what is crippling this country, no one wants to compromise and meet in the middle.

Wow, I really started chasing rabbits. Sorry everyone.

Edit to point out @JKRiki comment. Something I feel strongly about.

Re: A New Splatoon 2 Update Will Soon Allow Players To Rise To 'Rank X'

Skid

Piranha Pit in the first game is where I really learned his to use the charger. I have a warm spot for it. I've still yet to really sit down and rank up in ranked. I'm A or A+ in everything except CB, which is rarely up when I have time to play.

@dimi The only part that is paid is the new story an playable octolongs from what I understand. The 100 new gear and whatnot is free like usual.

Re: Surprise! There's A New Nintendo Direct Coming, And It's Due Tomorrow At 10pm

Skid

Alright people, let's not over hype this one please. The only reason the last one "sucked" is because of the over hype and the spoiled information.

They singled out Mario Tennis so expect a lot of that. I also expect some final details on the Kirby game since it is coming out soon this month. I also expect new splatoon update information. I'm not expecting any big surprise unless it is Diablo. I'd like anything Dragon Quest related since I'm on a kick right now.

Re: Splatoon 2 Version 2.3.0 Is Now Live

Skid

@Kanbei You are correct, so if you are initially accurate when you engage someone you will wreck them. I'm assuming this also means it will be better to shoot a few shots, move, and then repeat.

Re: Splatoon 2 Version 2.3.0 Is Now Live

Skid

@Yoshi This is a big, and welcome, change. It will really help with being able to position your reticle better or getting out of a pinch.

@wazlon I like this idea. Make it like the Smash Bros option where you can change the percent chance of playing.

"Squid Beakon - Made it so that the position of opponent players within the area of effect is displayed on all ally’s Turf Maps" Wait wait wait, so did they make squid beakons into little sonar points now? If that is the case I could see some interesting tactics come out of that, but nothing really ground breaking though.

Re: Video: Get To Know Nintendo Labo Even Better With These In-Depth Trailers

Skid

Looks like a I stand corrected. I was afraid the games weren't going to have enough content from what they initially showed off to justify the price. The first box set looks amazing just from the piano and motor bike sections. This is really giving me a mario paint vib (especially b/c of the piano, yes). The robot game seems lacking in comparison though, but it has no appeal for me so that is why.

Re: Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition Arrives On Switch This May

Skid

Looks like I don't have to say this is ugly like I intended to. Everyone else has that covered.

40 USD though... really? (I guess I will say something about its graphics). You can't ask for that much money and then give us a game that looks like a free to play phone game that usually has adds after everything you do.

This is sad.
