@dePaige22 It doesn't change the fact that rising cause for games and tech is a fact of life. Gaming is a luxury. It always has been. It has never been been cheap. Either the hardware to build a PC for gaming is expensive or the video games are expensive.
As the article has mentioned, there are PLENTY of people that willing to pay the cost no matter what. The fact that Nintendo does target the younger and casual audience is irrelevant. Your personal circumstances are also irrelevant. If the product is deemed good, people will pay for it. No matter what.
This isn't surprising as all. Any fan will pay the price. And those who understand that gaming is an expensive hobby to begin. If you can't afford to deal with rising cost of video games, your in the wrong hobby.
@Cero Not sure if this helps, but does it happen when you try to use a different TV or Monitor? I notice the freezing issues when trying to wake up from sleep with an old monitor I had. Once I switch to a new Monitor, it doesn't freeze anymore when trying to wake up from sleep mode.
@Kienda Even so, adding more options isn't always a good thing. Even if the player count it high, this game allows for 24 racers at a time. Double MK8D.
We already have 4 modes of play that split the player base during matchmaking. We don't need more options to split the player base any further. More isn't always better after all.
@Mokabe_brotha You do realize this is Nintendo right? I understand not everything is perfect, but they are a hard headed company. I don't see them changing their ways so easily. It's one thing to listen to gamers but it's another to go against the creator's intent for their games.
@Kienda That would just split the matchmaking and make it harder for players to pair up in races. Adding the option to "opt out " of intermission races is not the answer. They'll probably adjust the RNG of seeing such races down the line at some point just like they did now.
Till they, I say adapt to it and move on. It's not a big deal.
@LUIGITORNADO Which Wii version are you referring to? The single player RPG or the multiplayer one that was a port of the DS that tried to do 2 screens at once?
The GC version was fine for what it was. The remastered would have been better if they JUST kept the group caravan system. That would have allowed for group sharing of save files and have everyone be part of the Moogle mail system.
I would love to see a new game to the Crystal Chronicles Series. Not a lazy port of the GC game but an actual new game. One that actually has good multiplayer and gameplay. If only they left the full caravan system in that remake...
@Zeebor15 Nah, people will still try to use these Flash Carts cause people are cheap. Sides, physical media is dying anyway. XP
Anyway, this isn't surprising at all. With the ToS change and the method to brick via anywhere, it was only a matter of time till someone tried this. RIP to the idiots.
Okay, I'll be eating my own hat here. I never expected 3rd kits to be coming to Splatoon 3. But Kudos to a Switch 2 free update. Give me a little push to get back into the game again. ^^
Heha, the comments going crazy. We'll see revisions of some sort down the line. This Switch and Switch is very similar to the 3DS and New 3DS. It's classic Nintendo. XP
@gojiguy Why would I? You can't do either of those things with a Digital game. I'm not a reseller. I play the game, and if I'm done with it, I'm done with it.
@Joekun Oh? Was that not the case with the recent Nintendo Life YouTube video? They showed a price difference between the physical and digital as they were browsing the eShop store on the website.
Either way, I'm saying it's a start. They are making the digital games cheaper over the physical version. Eventually, they'll cute out physical media to safe cost. Because a ceiling will be hit when it be comes to expensive to make physical media.
@Joekun You do realize that Nintendo has said why they hate doing sales on their first party titles right? They don't want people to feel bad about being a first time buyer. Hence why they only have small sales.
You may not agree with it, but understand their point of few. I would hate to feel that I have to wait 2 years for a game to be half price.
@Joekun @Anti-Matter It's happening whether you like it or not. Many Switch 2 games are cheaper when bought Digital. The physical games are $5-15 bucks more. It's definitely going to be sooner than later. I would be surprised if halfway through Switch 2 life cycle that all games go digital or cancel their physical release to save money.
@Joekun @jojobar I'm in my 30s here. I'm also the oldest of five. I've lost many games during the old N64, GC, GBA, and DS days because of the reason I mentioned above. Being the oldest is NOT fun and having young siblings with "sticky hands" and what not get into your stuff is a PAIN to do deal. With digital Media, I don't have to worry about losing a game. It's backed up to an account that easily downloadable.
I'm not worried about the servers or anything like that shutting down. I rarely go back to playing a game once I've beaten it (excluding some multiplayer titles). By the time the DO shut down, I'm already on the next game or console system. I'm not a Retro gamer in anyway. So what you have mentioned doesn't apply to me. As well as many others who feel the same way.
@Anti-Matter It will happen, it's only a matter of time. With rising cost due to inflation and now tariffs. Physical media will be cut to save cost. PC Gaming did it, Console gaming will follow.
The benefits for Digital far out way Physical. You don't have to worry about it being lost, broke, eaten by a dog, taken and crushed by siblings, etc.
PC gaming is all digital and PC Gamers are fine with it. Don't know why console gamers get all "bent out shape" when the game isn't physical. Physical media is outdated. It's time to move on.
I'm going to wait and see. The Switch 2 internal storage will server in the short term. Hell, I have half a gig on my Switch MicroSD and it's no where near full. And I buy my games all digital. 0.o
@Ultimapunch While monitors have had VRR for years, TV having that feature are still new. That may be why they removed it. Not everyone is going to buy an expensive smart TV with that feature.
That being said, there are plenty of console gamers, such as myself, that play their consoles on monitors. Monitors can handle high FPS a lot better then TV. At least from my experience.
@WiiWareWave Doubtful. Nintendo's a big name. Even if the Switch 2 flops, they'll survive. They are a too big a power house to be taken down so easily.
@WiiWareWave It's not Nintendo, or any Company for that matter, fault for wages being low. They aren't responsible for min wages not changing to suits one supposed needs.
Nice to see an article like this. The people complaining about the launch price of the Switch 2 always forget inflation is a thing. This chart puts things in a nice perspective. ^^
@DanijoEX-The-Kumiho That's your choice. Gaming will always be an expensive hobby. That is going to change now nor in the near future. Human greed being what it is after all.
Heha, so funny seeing this comments. When the Switch 2 comes out, we'll all adapt to paying the new higher price. It happens every new console generation.
@Jireland92 Yep, and since humans are a herd mentality, we will adapt again and pay for it. The minority complaining about the prices now will either give in or leave. Their complaints won't change anything and we'll move on to something else to complain about. We see this EVERY console generation.

Re: PSA: You Might Want To Be Careful Buying Pre-Owned Switch 1 Games For Your Switch 2
More proof that Digital is better than Physical. XP
Joking aside, this just make me happy I'm a digital owner then a physical. You have no idea what a 2nd hand copy of a physical game has been through.
Re: Switch Port Experts Share Thoughts About Switch 2's "Raw" Performance
Stable 30-60FPS with 1080p is fine by me. Now if they are able to do more, then it's just added extra. ^^

Re: Nintendo Removes Variable Refresh Rate TV Mention On Switch 2 Websites
@Cakefish Not as widespread as you think. Those TVs with such support are pricey. Cheaper to get a monitor instead.
Re: Nintendo Removes Variable Refresh Rate TV Mention On Switch 2 Websites
@Ultimapunch While monitors have had VRR for years, TV having that feature are still new. That may be why they removed it. Not everyone is going to buy an expensive smart TV with that feature.
That being said, there are plenty of console gamers, such as myself, that play their consoles on monitors. Monitors can handle high FPS a lot better then TV. At least from my experience.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Includes Support For Variable Refresh Rate Technology
@SalvorHardin Agreed. Lots of monitors support VRR but only a select amount of smart TVs have the feature.
I'm sure we'll new lines of TV in the coming year or so supporting the tech. It will still be handy for those that play consoles on monitors.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2: Backwards Compatible Guide - What Switch Games Can't Be Played?
Interesting but makes sense. They did say it would be part emulation and part hardware solution. So long as it work and works well, I say go for it.
