I had a blast with Theathrythm Final Fantasy, but the more I read/hear about Curtain Call, the more I think that it's the game Square-Enix should've made the first time around.
The two GBA WarioWare games are masterpieces. As far I'm concerned, Twisted! is still the greatest motion control game ever made, by a fairly wide margin.
I'll be treating Yoshi's New Island the same way I treat the New Super Mario Bros. series; I'll consider picking up a copy if I ever see a deal where the game is $20-25 off, but otherwise I'm not going to go out of my way to buy a competent, but inessential, platformer.
I'll likely sneak in my daily sessions of Spelunky (I beat Olmec for the first time yesterday!) and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but I think I'll mostly be putting time into Final Fantasy IV Advance and/or Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.
@Jazzer94 - Umihara Kawase Portable was released for the PSP and was initially planned for a NA release under the title "Yumi's Odd Odyssey", but it was a buggy, butchered re-release of the 2nd game that was widely panned and it remained a Japanese exclusive.
Yumi's Odd Odyssey/Sayonara Umihara Kawase, while re-using that old planned name, is a brand new entry made by the original developer and the first game in the series to receive a Western release.
I'd buy Mario Tennis right now if I thought I had the time to spare for it. It's my favorite Mario sports title by a pretty wide margin and I have no idea what I did with my old cart.
As it is, I'll happily download that Bravely Default demo.
Hopefully this means Mario Tennis GBC will be hitting the NA eShop in the near future. It's my favorite Mario sports title by a very wide margin, and I have no idea what happened to my old cart.
This game could've gotten review scores in the 5 or 6 range from most outlets and I still would've bought it.
It's good to have you back, Nick.
@Einherjar - Finishing all four of the previous games would be the ideal way to go into Dual Destinies, but you should be fine.
You might not be as familiar with the returning characters from Apollo Justice, but when looking at the Ace Attorney series' overall story, 4's definitely feels the most like a standalone entry.
I tend to keep my expectations modest for Nintendo Directs, so I was satisfied with this one. Much more info on Super Mario 3D World and A Link Between Worlds, a new trailer for Bravely Default and the reveal of a brand new Kirby game were more than enough for me.
Unless Nintendo decides to be nice and do away with region-locking, I might import the 2DS if it ever gets released in Japan.
Not so much because I'm terribly interested in what this version of the handheld has to over the other two models, but because it would simply be the cheapest model with which to play the many great Japanese 3DS games that don't make it out of the country.
For anyone that's interested in Etrian Odyssey IV and hasn't played the previous Etrian Odyssey games or the eShop's free EOIV demo, make sure you try that demo first. EOIV is fantastic, but it's not for everybody, and the demo will give you an accurate (and lengthy) taste of how the game plays and progresses. Plus, you can carry over your saved data from the demo to the full game, which is pretty nifty.
If they want to do a Master Quest-type remix that helps make the game feel fresh again and a little more challenging, that'd obviously be an amazing treat, but I'll gladly settle for enemies that can actually take more than a quarter of a heart from Link's health.
Taking a few hits from almost any adversary in TWW was almost never a big deal, because Link was just too durable for them to be true threats - especially later in the game, when you'd managed to put together some extra heart containers.
If Capcom had released the first game outside of Japan as a straight translation instead of a quality localisation, we'd still only have one Ace Attorney/Gyakuten Saiban game.
The most important thing is to get the original intent across. Cultural shorthand varies from language to language and country to country, especially when it comes to humor and pop culture references, both of which are creative wells AA makes heavy use of. Puns, in particular, are entirely dependent on whatever language you're using. Having Japanese puns receive the romaji or even literal English (or French or Spanish or Farsi, etc.) treatments would not have conveyed the humor or hinted character traits in the same way they were meant to for the average Japanese player in the original releases, so in order for you to laugh (or, depending on how you feel about puns, groan) in the places you were supposed to laugh, they had to be adapted.
I downloaded Shantae along with Attack of the Friday Monsters! last week, but I put it aside in order to finish the latter game. I'm really looking forward to starting it over the next few days.
If they get acquired by Nintendo, I'll be reasonably happy with it, but I'd rather see a company like Marvelous pick Atlus up and allow them to carry on as a 3rd party developer.
But really, just as long they aren't acquired by cancerous publishers like EA, Activision (not that either of them would be interested at all to begin with), Capcom or Square-Enix, I'll probably be okay with whoever acquires Atlus.
I'm not terribly surprised with how well Animal Crossing is performing, but that Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was able to move 115K copies in its fourth month is kind of amazing.
You know what amazes me most about the Famicom? That it was launched in 1983... and was still receiving worthwhile official software in 1994. I can't think of another home console like it.
Also, on a separate note, the number of different colors Famicom cartridges came in was really cool. Much better than the drab gray carts the NES always had, with a handful of notable exceptions.

Re: Nintendo Shows Off April's Game Boy Advance Wii U Virtual Console Line-up
Even all these years later, Metroid Fusion still creeps me out. Such an atmospheric little game.
And Advance Wars is one of those games that I almost immediately regretted trading in. I'll definitely download that at some point.

It doesn't seem to be on many people's radars, but Yumi's Odd Odyssey is an upcoming eShop exclusive that I'm very excited about.

Re: Review: Bravely Default (3DS)

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Nineteen
I'll be sinking my teeth into Pokemon X Version and Phoenix Wright: Ace OMG IT'S FINALLY HERE Attorney - Dual Destinies.
Re: Review: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies (3DS eShop)
@Sheikah_stone1 - I'm pretty sure those reviews were for the WiiWare ports, which were admittedly not the smoothest transitions the series has made.

$10 is a steal for Revelations.
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th October (North America)
IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING, PEOPLE!
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Eighteen
I'm trying to finish replaying Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney before Dual Destinies drops later this month.
I'm also replaying Final Fantasy IX for the... I've lost track of how many times I've played through that game.
Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 1st October Broadcasts
I tend to keep my expectations modest for Nintendo Directs, so I was satisfied with this one. Much more info on Super Mario 3D World and A Link Between Worlds, a new trailer for Bravely Default and the reveal of a brand new Kirby game were more than enough for me.
Also, the Ace Attorney 5 demo!
Re: Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies Demo Is Available Now On The 3DS eShop
The music in this demo awesome, as befits an Ace Attorney game.

Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Set To Take The Stand in October
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Sixteen
Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which seems to be all I ever play nowadays.
If I'm in the mood for it, I might get back to Shin Megami Tensei IV.
Re: Nintendo Download: 29th August (North America)
That BIT.TRIP SAGA discount might be too good to pass up.
Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Will Not Be Getting A Boxed Copy in The West
I was pretty skeptical that Capcom would change their minds on this even before Svensson left, so this news, while disappointing, isn't surprising.
Re: Club Nintendo Japan Gets A Trio of Awesome T-Shirts
I'd totally order those TWW and Wonderful 101 shirts.
Re: Review: Jet Force Gemini (Nintendo 64)
I have fond memories of this game, but I remember that it could be an incredibly aggravating experience if you actually wanted to save the Tribals.
Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd August (North America)
VRL is well worth those $25.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Fifteen
Shin Megami Tensei IV, Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. With maybe some Civilization IV: Warlords mixed in.

I'm getting Mario Golf and... that's about it.
Re: Capcom: If You Want Games Like E.X. Troopers, You Need To Speak Up

Re: Nintendo Download: 25th July (North America)
I really wish the Picross e games had puzzles larger than 15x15.

I'll definitely be getting the extra case.

I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Re: Review: Attack of the Friday Monsters! A Tokyo Tale (3DS eShop)
I haven't had a ton of time with it yet, but I really like what I've played so far.
Like some people have already described in the game's thread in the forums, it's almost like playing through a slice-of-life anime.
Re: Picross e2 Set For July Release in North America, e3 Arrives in September
I love my Picross, but acquiring the e games became much less pressing for me once I learned that the largest puzzles are only 15x15.
Re: Review: EarthBound (Wii U eShop)
I don't have a Wii U yet, so I'm just going to go somewhere private and brood over how I still can't play EarthBound.
