Re: Review: Wipeout 3 (Wii U)

Every single time I see an article or a review on "Wipeout", I immediately think it's about the classic PlayStation racing series. I am disappointed nearly every time.

Re: What's On Your Game Boy Camera?

RevolverLink

I never had a Game Boy Camera myself, but one of my best friends as a kid had one that we used pretty often (and a Game Boy Printer too!). The pictures were not exactly... pretty, but it still made for a nifty change of pace between Pokemon sessions.

Re: Wii Mini Is Official And Has No Online Connectivity

RevolverLink

It's a shame, really. With internet connectivity, and thus Netflix and Hulu Plus compatibility, Nintendo might've had an interesting, affordably-priced 2-in-1 streaming and gaming device on their hands.

The lack of GameCube support is a drop in the bucket by comparison. Yeah, gaming/Nintendo enthusiasts might not like it, but the ability to play games for a console that's been irrelevant since 2005 isn't a selling point for anybody in 2012 - and anyone that would've been interested in that feature already owns a method of playing GCN titles anyway.

Re: Review: Pac-Man (3DS eShop / NES)

RevolverLink

Semi-OT, but between the 3DS' capabilities and the Wii U being the Wii U, the time would seem ripe for a Pac-Man Vs. revival. It was an obtuse fit for the GameCube, but Nintendo's hardware has finally caught up to that game's fun ideas. Just a thought.

Re: Best Buy Canada Website Outs Wii Mini, States December 7th Launch

RevolverLink

To further confirm @LEGEND_MARIOID's news, here's Destructoid -

"Nintendo has officially revealed the Wii Mini, slated for Canadian release on December 7 and retailing for $99.99. According to the platform holder, the small-size Wii will be exclusive to our neighbors in the north for the duration of the holiday period.

The Mini features a top-loading disc tray and looks like a Duplo brick with its flat look and red/black color scheme. As well as cutting down on size, the Mini has an important feature snipped — online connectivity. It also won't be compatible with GameCube games — but "most" peripherals will be supported ... so that's something. Maybe.

Nintendo currently has nothing to say on a worldwide release, so if you're desperate for an offline Wii that isn't backwards-compatible, you best be in Canada!"

Re: New Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney Trailer Points the Finger

RevolverLink

Where are some of you getting this "no Layton puzzles" idea? A Layton puzzle is a prominent part of the trailer.

As for the strike system in the Phoenix Wright segments, if it is like the first game, it'll be more like 5 strikes instead of 3 - which, really, wasn't functionally much different from the health bar of the later games.

Re: Resident Evil Revelations Jumping Ship To PS3?

RevolverLink

Eh, I had a feeling this was coming; the only companies that like to port their own stuff more than Capcom are Ubisoft and Nintendo.

I think it might lose a little something without the depth-of-field 3D, but really, if this gets more people to play this excellent game, I don't mind. They've already ported Okami twice since it came out in 2006, and still not nearly enough people have played it.

Re: Nintendo Has No New Wii Games In The Pipeline

RevolverLink

I'm still holding out an incredibly faint hope that some small publisher like Xseed will localize Earth Seeker and/or Rodea the Sky Soldier (although at least in the Rodea's case, it's already being developed for the very much alive 3DS), but with even Nintendo not having anything left in the tank for it, it looks like this is the end for the old Wii.

Farewell Wii, you had a weird, and occasionally quite fun, run.

Re: Wii U Basic Can Only Store 3GB Of Downloaded Software

RevolverLink

@sonik 512MB wasn't all that tolerable back in 2006, and 3GB of space in 2012 isn't either.

Unless someone plans on playing their Basic WiiU sparingly and only buying the occasional retail game (and at that stage, why would they even bother with one at launch?), I don't see much point in anyone getting Basic.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: Sticker Star (3DS)

RevolverLink

@gamermii - I can't specifically recommend this game (since I've yet to play it), but generally speaking, it's a pretty safe bet that if you like the Mario & Luigi games, you'll probably like the Paper Mario games too.
