It's Japanese charts time, and there's happy news for Capcom and its release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies, as it surpassed a quarter of a million sales in its debut week. The Wii U news is less positive, with momentum sliding further for the system and Pikmin 3.
The software top 20 is dominated by Capcom's court room adventure, with other notable Nintendo-system exclusives making top 10 debut appearances; we have Fantasy Life Link! on 3DS and Wii U title LEGO City: Undercover finally arriving in Japan; lifetime sales are in parenthesis.
1. [3DS] Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies – 250,216 (New)
2. [PS3] Dragon’s Crown – 104,359 (New)
3. [PSV] Dragon’s Crown – 71,083 (New)
4. [PS3] The Witch and the Hundred Knights – 49,209 (New)
5. [3DS] Mario & Luigi: Dream Team – 43,721 (143,694)
6. [3DS] Tomodachi Collection: New Life - 22,821 (1,309,467)
7. [3DS] Yokai Watch – 18,543 (101,299)
8. [3DS] Fantasy Life Link! – 18,234 (New)
9. [Wii U] LEGO City Undercover – 18,199 (New)
10. [Wii U] Pikmin 3 – 14,161 (135,393)
11. [PS3] Earth Defense Force 2025 – 10,879 (222,847)
12. [3DS] Danball Senki W Super Custom – 10,796 (38,038)
13. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf – 9,966 (3,345,164)
14. [3DS] Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D – 9,547 (226,695)
15. [PSP] Toki no Kizuna: Hanayui Tsuzuri – 9,252 (New)
16. [3DS] Hoppechan: Tsukutte! Asonde! Punipuni Town!! – 8,837 (New)
17. [PSV] Toukiden – 8,253 (208,170)
18. [3DS] Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon – 8,147 (842,538)
19. [PSP] DanganRonpa: Academy of Hope and High School Students of Despair (PSP the Best) – 7,507 (105,158)
20. [PSP] Toukiden – 7,428 (136,840)
The hardware chart tells a largely familiar story, with the combined sales of the 3DS LL (XL) and original model being well beyond rival systems. Unfortunately for the Wii U, it lost some momentum for the second consecutive week; last week's sales are in parenthesis.
3DS LL – 36,350 (41,322)
PlayStation Vita – 19,866 (14,392)
3DS – 18,625 (15,703)
PlayStation 3 – 11,900 (11,413)
Wii U – 11,373 (14,280)
PSP – 6,024 (5,719)
Wii – 1,442 (1,463)
Xbox 360 – 318 (420)
So there you have it, another significant launch success for a 3DS game, and perhaps some disappointment in the LEGO City performance and overall momentum of the Wii U. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies will be an eShop-only release in the West, so it'll be interesting to see how it performs once localised.

I hope Dual Destinies sells that well everywhere else in the world.
I hope that too... that way we may see more Phoenix Wright action in the future !
I will fully support this franchise
I wonder if, like Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS), this game will allow you to switch the voice acting to japanese
Bummer about Lego City not debuting further ahead. It's far and away the best game in the system right now in my opinion (although, living in South America, I've yet to experience Pikmin 3).
Good news! Dual Destinies kicks butt!!!
I think this means we will be seeing a 6th AA game in the future.
Man, this looks incredible.
Great news for Ace Attorney! One of my favourite series ever. Happy to see it do so well.
Definitely will support it when it comes to Europe.
Western release date please, can't wait
So many 3DS titles on that list! Makes me happy
Lego city in Japan won't even be remotely the same, given they redubbed it and rewrote a lot of the script.
Ace Attorney is looking good though, this is almost double the first week sales of Layton VS ace attorney in Japan.
Looking at the sales of other new releases, I can't say there was much competition for our fellow Phoenix Wright.
Ugh, more not-good news for U. Wish fall could come faster.
Great news =D Now i just have to finish the rest of the series so i can start playing this one when it comes out here ^^
Only games I like the look of on that chart are the none Nintendo ones.
Dragons Crown especially.
Wouldn't want a bad port of it though on the 3DS.
Hot damn, DanganRonpa is STILL on the charts? Considering the original game came out on the PSP three years ago, and this is just a "Greatest Hits" style re-release, that's mindboggling. Can't wait for the american release next year on Vita.
Good for Ace Attorney. I hope it does well when it released in the states.
Great to see the 3DS doing so well. Not so long ago, it was in the same position as WII U is now, and people across the board were claiming it was not going to be a success, and it pulled through. Hopefully WII U can as well.
Fantastic to see AA doing well too
Hm is this game fun? Never got into it
@Kirby3ds
Yes it is amazing! My favourite video game series!
