Re: Fantasy Life Trademark Emerges in Europe

RevolverLink

I'm really hoping that this game, Time Travelers, Monsters Come Out on Friday and, of course, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will all eventually make their way to North America.

Because I love me some Level-5 (and because all of those games appeal to my gaming sensibilities anyway).

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About the F-Zero Franchise

RevolverLink

F-Zero is just one of those series I've never been able to get into, no matter how much I've tried. I respect the craftsmanship, the visual aesthetics and the love fans have for it, but the speed is just too much for me. GX actually gave me motion sickness on more than one occasion.

Re: Feature: The Big Valentines Nintendo Direct Summary

RevolverLink

I wasn't blown away by this Nintendo Direct, but there were still a few bits of news that made me happy. The big one for me was Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and the announcements of Animal Crossing's release date (finally) and River King & Harvest Moon coming to the eShop were both nice too.

Re: Castlevania Producer Would Love To Work With Nintendo On Zelda

RevolverLink

While I'd like to see another 3rd-party developer put their spin on Zelda (Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons are two of my very favorite games in the series and The Minish Cap was good for what it was), I'm not sure MercurySteam is the one I'd like to see have a stab at it. I just haven't been impressed with their body of work so far.

Re: Rayman Legends No Longer a Wii U Exclusive, Delayed to September

RevolverLink

That they're pushing back the release of an almost completed game so far is irritating, particularly for those Wii U owners that bought the system partly because Rayman Legends was coming within the first 6 months or so, but that they're producing PS3 and 360 versions is one of the least surprising things that has ever happened. Ubisoft is almost as notorious as Capcom and Nintendo are for porting their games (and Rayman especially) - everyone knew that part of the story was always going to happen, and it's perfectly understandable. And, to be perfectly honest, releasing all three versions simultaneously will probably be better for Rayman Legends.

What annoys me much more is that, once again, another (likely fantastic) Michel Ancel title is probably going to be screwed over by a poor choice in release date, when it will now have to contend for sales with high-profile mega-sellers like Grand Theft Auto V. Has Ubisoft really not learned from what happened to Rayman Origins and Beyond Good & Evil?

Re: Book Review: The Legend Of Zelda: Hyrule Historia

RevolverLink

I'm enjoying the book immensely, but if I had one nit to pick with the Hyrule Historia, it would be that it hasn't gone into as much detail with The Legend of Zelda's dungeons as I would have hoped.

My absolute favorite thing about the book has been seeing the architecture of various areas evolve over the course of their development and all of the neat ideas the designers had while they were initially conceiving them (the same goes for the character designs, which are, thankfully, much more plentiful), and it just seems slightly odd that such a major part of the series wouldn't receive much attention with this sort of thing.

Re: XSEED Talks Wii Support And Why It Isn't Touching Retro Game Challenge 2

RevolverLink

It's really disappointing, albeit perfectly understandable, that we'll probably never see an official Western release for Retro Game Challenge 2; the first game was one of my absolute favorite DS titles, and the sequel looked like it was even better. I had some small hope that a digital-only release might happen, but this looks like the final nail in the coffin; the licencing issues on top of the lackluster sales for the first game are still too much of a barrier. I guess I'll just have to consider myself lucky that the first game even made its way over to North America.

Someday I'll try to import RGC2 and play it with a translation guide - and maybe I'll play Tiny Cartridge's fan translation too, if/when that gets finished.

Re: Review: Ikachan (3DS eShop)

RevolverLink

That's a shame, I was hoping Nicalis and Pixel might use this as an opportunity to refine the game a bit. Oh well, I'll still probably get it at some point, but just not anytime in the immediate future.

Re: Pandora's Tower Finally Heading To North America

RevolverLink

By a pretty wide margin Pandora's Tower was the Operation Rainfall game I was least interested in, but I'd be willing to give it a shot if it's priced around $30 or so. Even if XSeed prices it higher though, I'm glad that the NA fans that most wanted to play it are getting their chance.

@TwilightV - I'm with you there. Even as a digital-only release, I'd be on Retro Game Challenge 2 like white on rice.

Re: Review: Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion (3DS)

RevolverLink

I had somewhat high hopes for this game just a few months ago, but between the lukewarm impressions in most of the final reviews and my own lackluster experience with the demo (gorgeous visuals aside), I'm going to pass on it.

Maybe I'll scoop it up if it's ever in a $10 bargain bin, but until then, I'll look to Adventure Time: HIKWYSOG for my sprite-based, side-scrolling, licensed property kicks on the 3DS.
