Re: New Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies Trailers Reveal Mature Rating

RevolverLink

I've been greatly anticipating this game for 5 and a half years now, so an "M" next to the title or even a digital-only release won't deter me in the slightest, but I will admit that this seems a bit of an odd decision by the ESRB at the moment.

I have yet to see anything from Dual Destinies that would indicate a significant change in mood, theme or tone from all of the previous Ace Attorney entries, but I also haven't played the game and I'm basically on media blackout until release, so for all I know, the violence could be less implied than it previously was in the series.

Re: Liege Channels Fire Emblem And Final Fantasy Tactics, And It Could Be Marching To Wii U

RevolverLink

I was thinking of it a bit while I watched the video, but after reading Liege's story description on Steam Greenlight:

One late autumn eve in the Kingdom of Liege, a King, his queen, and their royal heirs fall into a deep slumber from which they never wake. Following their mysterious deaths, a power struggle in the royal court ensues, and as the conflict quickly escalates, the Kingdom plunges into a bloody civil war. As war erupts across the land, we track the converging paths of characters aligned across various factions, from the noble houses vying for the throne, to the orphaned Royal Army, to an underground movement of outlaws with plans to incite revolution amidst the chaos.

Liege is a story that is written for an adult audience. It’s a drama about conflicted, intertwined, and human characters, forced to wage war for their lives and their homeland.

I'm definitely getting a significant A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones vibe from this. Which is a very good thing.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Fifteen

RevolverLink

Definitely Animal Crossing: New Leaf. This will be Club LOL's inaugural Saturday in my town and I want to be there. I'm also hoping to finish obtaining funds for the cafe.

I might download Mega Man 4 off of the 3DS eShop (after doing the same for 6, 2 and 5 over the last few weeks, and 3 back in April - don't ask me why I'm playing them all out of order, because I don't know either), but I'm more than likely going to go back to the Mega Man X Collection instead; Mega Man X2, to be more specific. I'm having a lot more trouble finding X2's sub-tanks and health & armor upgrades than I did in the first game.

Re: Review: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (3DS eShop / Game Gear)

RevolverLink

I had a couple of friends that both had Game Gears, but I think this is the only game either of them had for it. I remember being quite impressed with Sonic 2's colorful visuals on GG's backlit screen, especially when compared to what the Game Boy had to offer on that front at the time.

Re: Nintendo Teases Majora's Mask Remake Again, Again

RevolverLink

Majora's Mask is my favorite game ever made and I will gladly buy a 3DS remake should one ever materialize, but I won't be particularly bummed out if we don't get it.

Even if it is a game I treasure, there are too many interesting new 3DS games on the horizon, not to mention all of the already-released 3DS games I haven't picked up yet, for me to get worked up over a potential remake (one that has never been promised to anybody) of a game I've already played a dozen times.

Re: Don't Expect Retro Games to Play in New Animal Crossing Releases

RevolverLink

Yeah, I think most people already understand and accept that the return of playable NES games in Animal Crossing is unlikely to ever happen. Jonathan Holmes from Destructoid brought up an alternative earlier today that I really liked though (even if it is just as unlikely): playable fake-NES games.

Just the thought of basically having Retro Game Challenge-style "retro" titles incorporated into Animal Crossing had me salivating.

Re: Platinum's Hideki Kamiya Gives Smash Bros. Fans Both Barrels

RevolverLink

I'm not sure I'd take it quite to the level Kamiya did, but I'd be pretty annoyed too if people kept endlessly pestering me about a project I'm neither working on nor have any control over.

And I'm pretty sure that Capcom, not Platinum Games, hold the rights to Viewtiful Joe anyway, so I don't know why anyone should be bugging him about that.

Re: Ubisoft: With The Right Games Wii U Will Find Its Public

RevolverLink

He's not wrong. Saying that a single game can save a system is probably oversimplifying things a bit, but the impact that games like Super Mario 64, Halo, Super Smash Bros. Melee and New Super Mario Bros. had for the Nintendo 64, Xbox, GameCube and Nintendo DS, respectively, shouldn't be underestimated (particularly in SM64's case - that game almost single-handedly kept the N64 afloat during the extended wait until the next wave of 1st- and 2nd-party content). Even though those first three systems didn't ultimately win their console generations (and the DS was competing on a different playing field with the PSP and another Nintendo handheld), those games moved a lot of systems and went a long way toward solidifying those consoles' relevance.

And Rayman Legends was never going to be that game, whether or not it remained a Wii U exclusive. Rayman and other non-Mario side-scrollers just don't have that kind of drawing power.

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th June (North America)

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is the closest I've come to choosing the digital option over an available physical copy. I'm not going to, but I can definitely see how it would be tremendously convenient, especially in this particular game's case.

Re: Aonuma: I Want To Work On Things Other Than Zelda

RevolverLink

I'd welcome it. Aonuma clearly wants to try his hand at other things, and who can blame him? Even if you are proud of your work on a series, what type of creator wants to be stuck working on just one IP for their whole career? And Zelda could truly benefit from some fresh creative blood at this point.
