Should I ever get the chance to visit Japan, catching a Takarazuka show would certainly be somewhere on my checklist. Doubly-so if they happen to be running another Ace Attorney production at the time.
On a somewhat related note, if Capcom could be swell and bring AAI2 over (perhaps as a digital download/eShop title?) & confirm AA5 for 3DS already, that'd be great.
In fairness, this isn't quite as wasteful as the regalia adorning one of his sworn enemies, the Grand Duke of Sega Saturn. Most of the suckers he's sporting are a lot rarer than the numerous Majora's Mask carts His Majesty has managed to acquire.
Just hurry up and confirm this for Western territories already SE, I can't wait to play this in all of its class-based, beautifully-rendered, absurdly-named goodness!
That the game of the weekend didn't result in a more dramatic price-drop is mildly disappointing, but Mario's Picross itself is a great game. Those $3 will last you quite a while.
And if I had any time to play it, I'd download Kid Icarus today. Oh well, it'll always be there later.
@Millenia, @Superconsole - Sounds good, thanks for answering my question. I figure that as long as I don't have to do too much extracurricular reading in order to grasp what's going on in this game, I'll probably pick it up at some point.
@H_Hunter - Are you making that judgement based on the demo or just on the review score? Because the review itself didn't indicate that it was a bad game (flawed, perhaps, but not bad), and I can't think of a goofy, cockamamie, non-IGN universe where a 7/10 score indicates that a game is of poor quality.
Story-wise, would I be okay heading into Dream Drop Distance having only played the two main entries? I haven't played a Kingdom Hearts game since II came out, so I really don't know what's been going on in that series' universe since then.
I think there's a slight misunderstanding here: we, North America, got NES Open Tournament Golf (which prominently features Mario) a couple of weeks ago, which obviously must have had a different name in Japan, since they had the Famicom and not the NES.
Good for them. Because Japan almost always gets neat stuff long before us (or games we never see at all), I tend to forget that the inverse is also true sometimes.
I could be wrong of course, but I'm pretty sure they don't have VVVVVV yet or any of WayForward's games.
I was just thinking about getting this since goofy Kirby spin-offs are usually some of my favorite games in the series, but this sounds like it's both an incredibly underwhelming Kirby and pinball experience (which is a shame, because I still think it's a great idea on paper).
Well, between massive play sessions of Final Fantasy XII, I plan on mixing in Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Master Quest, Mighty Switch Force!, Donkey Kong '94 (I still need to finish Rocky Valley), VVVVVV, Wario Land 3 and at least some of my new Steam games (Wizorb, Tobe's Vertical Adventure, Analogue: A Hate Story, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Offspring Fling!, Lone Survivor, The Binding of Isaac). Some quick sessions of Pushmo and Kid Icarus: Uprising aren't out of the question either.
The better question might be what am I not playing this weekend?
Farewell James, thanks for all of the great work you put into this site. I hope your inner 7-year old doesn't feel too betrayed that you'll now be working for Nintendon't.
Great final review, and good luck at Nintendo of Europe, James!
Anyway, I might pick-up a cheap copy of this or the DS version someday, but for now I'll hold off on getting a new (for me) HM game until A New Beginning comes out.
I'd be more interested in a "3D Classics" run of classic Mega Man titles, but this is neat too. What I'm really holding out for on the eShop, though, is Mega Man V.
Even though I really don't have time to play Mighty Switch Force! right now (which is the only reason why I don't have it already), the sale is as good an excuse as any to buy it.
Very cool. My gaming time is tied up with bunch of stuff for July, but I should have finished most, or all, of it by the time The Last Story comes out.
Well, a big part of the game's draw is nostalgia, so I'd imagine most of the many nods for Final Fantasy fans would go over the heads of non-fans, but it's still a fine rhythm game in its own right, albeit on the easier side for genre veterans, with some of the best VGM you'll ever hear. So if you want a very good rhythm game with great music, I'd recommend it.
And let's not get too carried away, everyone. We all know that Super Mario 3D Land is the best game on the system.
I'm just going to buy my 5-10 favorites from the DLC selection, once it gets a little wider... and once there are some songs from VI and IX available, and leave it at that.
FF has some of the best music in the business, but I'm not going to spend $50+ on DLC lol.
I love that some of my favorite songs in this game are from the FF titles I haven't played. Elia, the Maiden of Water from FFIII and Home, Sweet Home from FFV are beautiful arrangements, FFV's Battle at the Big Bridge might be my favorite boss theme in the series and, even though they're mostly different from the catchier tunes the rest of the series is known for, I'm really enjoying the selection from FFXI.
The thing I'm most interested in getting from that selection is Metroid II (I already have Majora's Mask and Super Mario Kart on my Wii), but it's only a $4 download - I'll just buy it myself when I have the time to play it.
Even though I consider it a PS2 game first-and-foremost, I'm surprised no one in the comments has mentioned Okami yet. That soundtrack is beautiful, and fits the game like a glove.
For actual Wii games, I thought Muramasa, Wario Land: Shake It! and especially Galaxy 2 had excellent soundtracks. And Cing did a fantastic job with all of the public domain music in Little King's Story as well.
That 'atomic purple' Game Boy Color was the first handheld I ever owned; I received it as a gift for Christmas '99, along with a copy of Pokemon Yellow. Ah, nostalgia...
And I still play my GBA SP on occasion, if only because it can play my Game Boy Color games... and because my poor DS Lite's L trigger rarely works.
My neck of the woods isn't exactly the most populous, but even when I go to the mall or bigger local events, I never get Streetpass Tags; I've only ever received them from people I already know.
I saw "Castlevania" and, for a brief second, I wildly thought you guys were getting the excellent Belmont's Revenge instead (the enormous "ADVENTURE" completely escaped my vision somehow).
And Europe has nice opening selection of DLC for Theatrhythm; Cosmo Canyon, The Final Battle and A Fleeting Dream are classic FF songs.
Keep in mind that just because the head count may not be higher doesn't mean we won't be seeing new characters. There are plenty of clones than can be axed in favor of characters that will actually play differently and represent different series.
I mean, honestly, how many people would complain if we never saw Wolf again?
I'm not sure Smash needs to bring something quite as jarring as 3D stages in order to have a nice change in direction (although they may be good as a change of pace in the Adventure mode); I thought the scrambling for Dragoon parts and Smash Balls in Brawl added enough of a Power Stone flavor to the mix while still maintaining the series' own identity.
While 3D arenas aren't on my wishlist, though, elements from Power Stone that I would like to see in the next SSB are an increased focus on interactivity with the stages and more shifting terrain as the battles drag on. Pretty much every Smash stage has some form of obstacles and/or gimmicks to separate themselves from each other, and there have even been a few auto-scrolling levels, but few of them have taken the idea of a dynamic, constantly changing battlefield to the same degree that Power Stone 2 did. I feel like there could be some untapped potential there.
This just reminds me that we need a new Power Stone game, pronto. It's too bad Capcom left it for dead a long time ago; there really isn't another fighting series quite like it right now.

Re: The Legend of Zelda Music Makes Olympics Appearance
I'd heard about this the other day, very cool.

Re: Nintendo Talks Dragon Quest X in Latest Direct Broadcast
I really want to get hyped for this, because I find Dragon Quest to be an endlessly charming series, but MMORPGs just aren't my thing, sadly.

Re: King Nintendo 64 Lords It Up At Otakon
Maybe it's the nerd in me, but I'd hate to think that he ruined perfectly functional cartridges to make this.
Re: Female Ace Attorney Production Hits the Stage in Japan
I've actually seen a bit of the original show on YouTube. They were quite good - at least as far as I could tell, given the language barrier and all.
Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Four
Lots and lots of Final Fantasy XII.
That game is seriously huge; I've poured 94 hours in and there's still no end in sight.
Re: Site News: Nintendo Life's "Summer Picks" eShop Shelf
It's very cool to see you guys get more exposure. Congratulations!
Re: Nintendo Download: 26th July 2012 (North America)
I'm definitely getting myself Wario Land and Mole Mania, and possibly Colors! 3D too.
Re: Mole Mania Burrows onto US eShop Tomorrow
Whoa, I wasn't expecting Mole Mania to come too. Maybe I'll get that along with Wario Land tomorrow.

Wow, they weren't kidding when they said Zelda II was an inspiration.
That looks like Zelda II with Adventure Time assets pasted over it.

This looks like a much better selection for Europe than last week.
Re: Review: The Sword of Hope II (3DS eShop / Game Boy)
Huh. I wasn't expecting much out of this one, but consider me interested now. I'm always down for a good portable RPG.

Most of these had me looking like this -
Never change internet, never change.
But srsly tho, where is my Combat of Giant Dinosaurs 3D!?!? I said please!
Re: Picross E Rated for Australian eShop
Good news, hopefully an ESRB rating isn't too far behind.
I don't always take to puzzle games, but I'm a certifiable Picross junkie. The sooner I get more of it in my system, the better.
Re: Nintendo Download: 12th July 2012 (Europe)
I can't say I envy Europe this week.

Re: Review: Castlevania: The Adventure (3DS eShop / Game Boy)
When I feel like playing Castlevania: The Adventure, I'll just play ReBirth.
Re: Out Today: Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise (Europe)
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy has better music and Rhythm Heaven Fever is the better game, but they're both incredibly fun. I highly recommend both.

Re: Mighty Switch Force! HD Heading to Wii U eShop
Given that I probably won't have the WiiU at launch, I'll probably just bite the bullet within the next couple of months and get MSF for my 3DS.
Still, more gorgeous 2D games on consoles (or anywhere, really) are always a welcome thing in my book.
Re: No Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 for Wii U
I'm not really into the Lords of Shadow sub-series, but this sucks for people that want it and don't have one of the other two systems, I guess.
Re: July's Club Nintendo Rewards are Up
I might get Mario Tennis again, although I wish it was the amazing GBC game instead.
