As a massive Dreamcast fan, we still even have an original in our household. I would love to see a digital only rerelease. To mod my original to have built in hdmi and the ability to read off SD cards would probably still be more expensive than an updated release of the hardware. I would happily double dip on digital dreamcast games just for the convenience. If they make it compatible with the original hardware, you can pick up controllers and VMU's for very cheap these days. Make it happen Sega.
When playing bowling at higher levels, I am not even getting the full number of players so surely if Nintendo was using bots at league levels they would fill the gaps. Out of 16 possible players, I am often playing with maybe 12 sometimes 14 players and usually for there are a lot of strikes and spares happening throughout.
I remember the Qubic Christmas offer, sure the games weren't the greatest games. But it was fun, like a digital advent calendar. For the price of "free" you can give them a whirl and even if you get a bit of fun out of some of them it will have been worth it. I understand that people have concerns over having to sign up for a newsletter, but it that is the case surely its easy enough to make one just for this occasion especially if you plan on making an American account to claim these. I'm looking forward to counting down with the games and who knows I may even keep some on my SD card.
I think it's interesting to see that 100% docked and 100% handheld are pretty much the same amount and that there are quite a lot of people who like to "switch" between both modes, including myself.
I usually play docked but when the TV is in use and I want to carry on a game I do it handheld. Probably about 80/20 split. Which is weird because my wiiU was probably 60/40 with games that I could play on the game pad.
Managed to get one game inbetween the errors but after 20:30 it now says no sessions available anymore then continues to tell me session is at 20:00 - 20:59. What gives, only 30 mins instead of an hour and most of that tone was connection error.
I'm calling it, The December 24th game will be "Barbarous: Tavern of Emyr" I'm sure some of the artwork is used on the promotion and its official release day is the 25th of December 2019 so that is why I think it will be the mystery game. Well we all know when it comes to playing Gamecube games on the wiiU. Modders are able to do what "Nintendont" 😉
So I wouldn't be surprised if some people are working on something right now. Whether it's worth the effort is something else seeing as you can already buy the original console that does this but still some may try to prove a point.
Problem with this is that Nintendo tried to do this before with other sites. They were successful but its like cutting the head off a hydra. You remove one and two more pop up in its place. Does this mean they shouldn't bother then? No, thats not what I'm saying. Will this make any difference to people who want pirated software on the Internet? No, that is what Im saying. Just like Jeff Goldblum says in Jurassic Park, "life finds a way" These pirated versions will still exist, and while they are out in the wild they will be shared by those who want them. Closing down a site and suing for damages may make them feel a bit better in the short run, may even mean the warez will go quiet for a bit, but ultimately nothing will change.
I play my wiiu still, but my original wii got a second chance at life when I got it running all the old online services on it again. Also it was great that I could play triforce games on it via the SD card something about them using the same hardware as the gamecube so my favourite game on my wii is "Mario Kart Arcade GP2" Don't really fancy picking up the latest Just Dance but it's nice to see that it must still be doing well enough.
Really enjoyed my Ouya back in the day. When I got it off kickstarter it seemed to take forever to come but they gave me a load of credit for my inconvenience. Never had to spend anymore money on it, but it was good for a little game box before I went over to the pi. It was brilliant as an retro game box and it was straight forward to sideload apps on via Dropbox so I couldn't really complain. It never had a chance to seriously compete against the big consoles but it had a go and I seriously commend that.
Had this on the original xbox, cube and then later on the PC. Enjoyed the art style and story. I can understand why some people who like fps didn't like it because aside from some large action parts of the game most of the game could be played at a casual pace with stealth playing more of a major part than full throttle bullet action.
I used to enjoy OnLive, they struck up a deal with BT in the UK when it was released over here and we got three months free without any charge for data use. I found it worked quite well and I even continued my subscription after the three months were up. They had two different ways of paying for the games. The most popular was a monthly subscription which wasn't that expensive and the other was you could buy a game outright and you could stream it whenever providing it was on the servers. When you bought one outright it told you how long the minimum time it would be available so there wasn't any surprises if it dropped off your game list. If the company behind OnLive had the support of a company like Google it could have been a contender. My past experience has made me feel quite positive about this, although it would be a secondary way of playing for me.
I don't think $20 is bad for an online service if its good. I just don't know why it has taken so long to offer people what they can already do. I can already play online multiplayer on old systems such as the NES and have Achievements and Online High Score tables on those games also. I like the idea of a Netflix style gaming service, heck I was a massive supporter of onlive when it came out, I suppose I'm just disappointed in the offering of ten games that through the retro gaming community already has the online features that Nintendo are offering up.
Always been a fan of Charlie Brooker but I thought his big break into magazines and such was when he used to make cartoons for the comic Oink in the 80s. I still have all my copies along side his books at home.
@VR32F1END I agree about getting this on the wiiu virtual console. I got both, the VC and the new 3ds and although it's great to play on the go I did enjoy it more using the wiiu pad offscreen mode. It was just a better experience.
As far as XCX goes, it is a really good game and never pretended to be anything other than a spin off and it hope it gets some kind of sequel itself. But I'm glad they continued with the original, both have a different feel and Chronicles deserved a sequel.
Played this before using the Australian app and had no issues whatsoever and had a blast, now I decided to start fresh with the UK version and I have had nothing but errors and it is seriously effecting the fun of this game. If I hadn't had chance to play the glitch free Australian version and saw how fun it could be I would have given up by now.
Runbow was one of the games on my wiiu that made non wiiu owners say, "Wow, I really want a wiiu." I definitely think Nintendo should have poached them for first party work. I would have loved to see them work on an Nintendo IP.
I managed to find two of my pics so far in the collage, I can't believe how many pics they squeezed into the big picture. It is a lovely way to remember miiverse.
@Klunk23 Yeah and hopefully by the time the fade out the servers it will be straight forward to mod the games to use alternatives. In all fairness, until Switch gets it own Smash Bros, I think the wiiu online servers will be pretty safe.
Nice to see that the Plaza has all the mii's final comments with them so it doesn't seem so empty. I really was expecting the default messages on the screen. Some will seem weird in the next few weeks when they are still saying "Happy Halloween", etc. But at least we still have the most popular games still up with there final comments. Splat on, Mario Maker, etc.
On a side note, at 5:59 I managed to squeeze on the Lyrics to Sinatras "My Way" on miiverse and just get a yeah before the 401 error came up and they had flipped the switch.
@Klunk23 In all fairness the online features of the Wii being shut down was down to the purchase of Gamespy by Glu mobile rather than anything to do with Nintendo specifically. Anybody who soft modded their Wii was able to continue to play games online like Mario Kart and Smashed Brothers by using an alternative service.
@Paddle1 It seemed to start as a wiiU thing, but once it hit the 3DS it started to integrate into the 3DS games it seemed the perfect fit for the 3DS. The only hope for those games that benefit from the miiverse features get some kind of update that allows use of other social media. I mean they used to have Facebook connect on the DSi but decided to change to miiverse on the 3DS only to abandon it when it started to fit in. If I remember why they went from Facebook connect to miiverse was because Facebook wasn't considered "Family Friendly Nintendo image"
I wonder if they will be applying updates to some of their 3DS games that benefit from miiverse so you can share through other media instead. I'm looking at Miitopia that has barely been out and is great on miiverse. You can also make little photo montages using the Miitopia so it looks like little cartoons and you have an in game character who takes random photos that are ideal to post on miiverse. It actually makes me question every new purchase of Nintendo games incase they have features that won't last for long.
I really thought they would have waited for 3ds/2ds to wind down before killing off miiverse. Games like RPG Maker Fes pretty much rely on that for feedback and announcements for our games and I know some countries have really active miiverse from games companies themselves promoting upcoming games and giving advice and tips on their current games.
I've always favoured Sega over Nintendo in the console wars. But to be honest, I'm just glad to have been able to play through it. Some of my friends had SNES while I and some of my other friends had MegaDrive and each of us took secret pleasure in playing on the rival consoles from time to time.
@CapricornDavid wiiU was four characters (plus skins) and two support sets. I wouldn't be surprised if the demo features the same if not more than that.
I remember the wiiU demo had enough meat in it to see if you would like this game or not, I'm sure there were four characters a two support sets in the demo so you and a friend could do a 2 Vs 2 battle. And I remember they had a couple of skins too. I enjoyed it but it did think it wasn't worth the full price but definitely worth the £30 mark if you can get it cheap.
Whilst I agree availability of price of games and the ways we get to play them is probably at its best I don't believe this is the golden age. Quantity does not equate to quality and sure there is the rule that if you throw enough... Then some is bound to stick. This is not my golden era... But my son probably thinks otherwise and as more remakes and reboots of classic ips happen he will enjoy it just as much when I did first time I did.
I think the wiiU version is great but a lot of people have either played that or one of the other system ports so I hope that this doesn't put Ubisoft off bringing more games over to switch. It's so easy to turn around and say nobody bought the game so we won't be releasing any other games but if everyone has already owned and played that game elsewhere then it's not really the customers fault. Have they added anything worth double dipping for or is this just a straight forward port?
Have they no loyalty discount if you have it another Nintendo system. I bought this on wiiU and was able to download it free on my 3DS. I don't expect it to be free on Switch but maybe using mynintendo rewards they could have given a discount for owning on another system.
@MarioPhD Come to think of it they may have only been available in Europe but the games were download codes and included...
Donkey Kong Country Returns Metroid: Zero Mission My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess New Super Luigi U Super Mario 64 Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins Super Punch-Out! WarioWare: Touched
warioware and Zelda picross needed platinum coins whereas the rest used gold coins.
@MarioPhD It's not the first time they have had games on mynintendo, and last time I purchased Mario64 on my mynintendo and gave the code to my daughter because I already had it on wiiU and she didn't. Think the discounts work differently.
The wiiU eShop has still been recieving new content each week including wiiVC games so I'm sure that it will be around for a while yet. It will be a big loss when they end miiverse because it can be extremely useful way of finding things like RPG maker game IDs and suchlike without having to search random forums and things. Finding teammates and things is another good thing about it, the bad thing about it was probably it was TOO moderated.
@Dakt The New3DS has a 20% bigger screen than a standard one and although its the same thicknesses it is ever so slightly longer but in no way to make it less portable. Thanks to its nice smooth style of case compared to my ambassador regular 3DS it does feel smaller and more comfortable in my pocket but without actually being smaller.
My two favourite consoles of all time are the Dreamcast and the wiiU. But because I think that the wiiU was the best Nintendo console it makes me a fanboy, why. Surely I should be singing the praises of whatever new venture Nintendo goes into regardless of my actual views if that was the case. I'm glad Nintendo as a brand is doing so well, they are starting to diversify a little bit more than they have and letting other companies use their brand in non video gaming ways and I think it's paying off with the switch. I have yet to upgrade, I'm not too bothered by the titles at the moment because I'm still happy with my New3DS / wiiU combo but no doubt when the right game comes along. Sony made a great comeback with the PS4 and really tried to keep the momentum and mabey Nintendo will too. Either way it has to be good for gaming.
The only one that really stood out to me when I played was "Kid chameleon", the emulation was terrible. The Sonic played perfectly because it was the remake rather than Emulation but the other three played well enough on my phone and tablet. With the exception of Phantasy Star II, they all really need a physical controller to get the best out of them. But aside from KC being unplayable the others were fine for me.
@rushiosan The ones I've downloaded can be played offline. You only need 1.99 to unlock the games to remove adds and allow offline save files however if you don't want to pay there is a skipable video ad before you play the game or a banner ad when you are in the main pause / setting menu. It also requires you to watch an ad before using cloud save. Its not very intrusive at all.
@Senpai_Bruh Mabey the extra time needed to implement the service is so that they can find a way of determining if you are subscribed when not connected to WiFi so you can play the classic games when you have no connection.
@Chanchozoka WiiU had voice chat, I used it regularly and aside from less players on third party online games the server's were as good as the other systems. And that was with three wiiUs running on the same WiFi. If you had any issues with your wiiU online it doesn't sound like the issue was on the wiiU end.
Still love my wiiU, every month without fail I would pick up eShop credit and get games for my 3DS and wiiU and on the whole there was some cracking indie games on there. I was one of those that picked up this game... On the back of buying Runbow because he was my favourite character. I have very little regrets on my eShop purchases and this was definitely not one of them.
Bought it on wiiU because it was cross buy with our household of 3DS's unless switch version has similar offer i think it could be a tough sell. The wiiU and 3DS games are almost the same as the mobile free to play version except with the in app purchases being able to be bought with in game cash instead. It's a great time waster and was worth buying to be able to pay once and play on half a dozen systems but a tough buy for one.
I was pretty glad to upgrade my day one 3DS to a New3DS and did see an improvement in the console. I rarely use the 3D anyway and if this version had been out when making my decision to upgrade I may well have gone for this. With the SNES virtual console and New3DS exclusive eShop games being added weekly I can imagine original 3DS and 3DS being fazed out and being entirely replaced by the New range. I don't see how this will damage the Switch at all, if anything because of the size and style of this New2DS this would be ideal for weening younger gamers onto the switch because as some people pointed out that if you removed the top screen it looks pretty much the same as the switch. Also the more New3DS / New2DS owners out there, the more chance of getting some of the better Wii ports like Xenoblade being released.

Re: Wii U OS Version 5.5.2 Is Now Live
The wiiU eShop has still been recieving new content each week including wiiVC games so I'm sure that it will be around for a while yet. It will be a big loss when they end miiverse because it can be extremely useful way of finding things like RPG maker game IDs and suchlike without having to search random forums and things. Finding teammates and things is another good thing about it, the bad thing about it was probably it was TOO moderated.
Re: Production Of The Standard-Sized New Nintendo 3DS Ends In Japan
@Dakt The New3DS has a 20% bigger screen than a standard one and although its the same thicknesses it is ever so slightly longer but in no way to make it less portable. Thanks to its nice smooth style of case compared to my ambassador regular 3DS it does feel smaller and more comfortable in my pocket but without actually being smaller.
Re: Nintendo's Market Capitalisation Overtakes Sony's Following Switch Success
Re: Sega Forever Launch Marred By Terrible Emulation
The only one that really stood out to me when I played was "Kid chameleon", the emulation was terrible. The Sonic played perfectly because it was the remake rather than Emulation but the other three played well enough on my phone and tablet. With the exception of Phantasy Star II, they all really need a physical controller to get the best out of them. But aside from KC being unplayable the others were fine for me.
Re: Sega Forever Aims To Revive The Company's Past On Mobile, But Could Come To Switch
Re: Nintendo Reveals More Details About its Paid Online Service
@Senpai_Bruh Mabey the extra time needed to implement the service is so that they can find a way of determining if you are subscribed when not connected to WiFi so you can play the classic games when you have no connection.
Re: Nintendo Reveals More Details About its Paid Online Service
@Chanchozoka WiiU had voice chat, I used it regularly and aside from less players on third party online games the server's were as good as the other systems. And that was with three wiiUs running on the same WiFi. If you had any issues with your wiiU online it doesn't sound like the issue was on the wiiU end.
Re: Teslagrad Was Most Profitable on the Wii U Compared to Other Platforms
Still love my wiiU, every month without fail I would pick up eShop credit and get games for my 3DS and wiiU and on the whole there was some cracking indie games on there. I was one of those that picked up this game... On the back of buying Runbow because he was my favourite character. I have very little regrets on my eShop purchases and this was definitely not one of them.
Re: Plantera Is Coming To The Nintendo Switch As Plantera DX
Bought it on wiiU because it was cross buy with our household of 3DS's unless switch version has similar offer i think it could be a tough sell. The wiiU and 3DS games are almost the same as the mobile free to play version except with the in app purchases being able to be bought with in game cash instead. It's a great time waster and was worth buying to be able to pay once and play on half a dozen systems but a tough buy for one.
Re: New Nintendo 2DS XL Announced, Releases 28th July
Re: Reminder: Fire Emblem My Nintendo Rewards Arrive in North America, Metroid in Europe
I'm happy for the Swap Doodle content. Still have loads of Gold Coins left though. Was hoping for a VC game or two.
