With 2 wiiu's and 4 3DS's in our household all the codes came in handy at home. Although I did end up having to get the kids a bigger SD card for their 3DS.
I wonder if they will bring the Animal Crossing Plaza back to the wiiu with some kind of connection to the mobile app. Hopefully it will be connected to their existing AC titles and not have to pay out and put in the hours into a couple of new titles.
@samuelvictor Although I do agree mostly with what you said, I did experience some serious game braking glitches such as enemies spawning UNDERNEATH my feet causing me to be stood on their heads and unable to kill them, as well as other glitches mentioned in the review. The B Movie quality of the game is a plus as far as im concerned, big fan of dodgy horror films and the 30 gold coins for the purchase helped soften the blow. But if I hadnt hit the glitches I would have enjoyed this seriously bad game, my son played it without glitches and although he wouldn't chose to buy it himself he did enjoy himself.
@OorWullie When you redeem your points for the 3DS games you get a code to purchase the game with. Mabey you could trade codes with someone for something else. Even other game codes that you can pick up for the wiiu from game shops, some virtual console games are cheap enough to pick up and swap for one of your codes. I'm fine for codes by the way, but I'm sure there are others out there that may do it.
I'm having the opposite problem with friends, I connected to a couple on Twitter and one face to face and then just from the friend of friends adding I found I have more than I can handle. Too much activity on there can be just as bad as not enough.
@CHET_SWINGLINE That is fair enough. I liked the face to face feature but it does indeed use your location to determine where you are. Mabey with one of their updates they will let us use our 3DS/wiiu friends list.
@CHET_SWINGLINE You don't need to be on any social networks to add friends. You can add face to face and even add friends of friends. My daughter hasnt connected her social media to the app yet has almost sixty friends connected. It even recommends friends for you to contact. All this without social networks.
I had a good time playing the Japanese apk file and for those without Social media, the face to face adding of people works really well and once added it keeps you all in touch so I'm sure with a few organized meet ups you will have plenty of miitomo friends
@MailOrderNinja The idea is great. Just a shame Physical games are not included but that aside. I agree. Also I'm on a mission to get that free copy of Warioware Touched. 1000 platinum points seems achievable!!
You would think that once you would link your Nintendo account to the game it would automatically add other Nintendo accounts connected to it using your friend lists. My 3DS friend list is full, and my wiiu list although not full has a fair few friends and it would be so convenient for it to add them to this app for me instead of having to get their Facebook/Twitter accounts.
I remember the even older Nintendo Club when you got a handful of stars for checking in daily, I'm kind of glad that is back with the checking miiverse and the eshop on a weekly basis. If you do that anyway and nothing else you may get yourself a free theme every now and then or even a cheap app/game like the Zelda picross without too much inconvenience.
Bypassing digital rights management of an app is illegal, downloading and side loading an apk is legal. In fact sometimes it's the only way of getting and app such as Amazon App store. There is nothing illegal about installing an unmodified version of this app to your device.
I'm glad this article has been written because this is how I got to try it out, its worth trying out and it has only made me more excited for the official regional release.
@Kimite In the terms and conditions it does talk about changing your country / region and it does give the option within the settings in game although Japan is the only option so far. So you could probably download a version nearest to the country your from and use that until your country eventually becomes available. Setting up a gaming twitter account seems like a good idea to get around lack of friend code sharing etc. I may do the same.
Just had a quick play of the Japanese apk floating round the internet and now I can't wait for the western release. It feels just like Tommadachi life and works in a similar way too. I had a bit of a play without connecting to any of my accounts (didn't want to spoil the official release) and everything worked well and had that Nintendo feel about it all. With the Japanese apk available everywhere I can't see it being long between now and when the other regions hit. The Japanese version is in English which helps, but I feel the real fun will be when you connect it to all your friends via the official app.
@OneBagTravel Bravely Default is named after its unique combat mechanic. Although combat is turn based you can act 'Bravely' if you want and use up some of your turns prematurely or if you want to play it safe and build up moves for when you need them you can 'Default'. The name sounds confusing to start with but I swear it kind of makes sense when you play it. Don't know what the 'end layer' is though.
Thank you for the code. I completed the demo to the first game 100% and got a load of goodies for the full game when I transfered my save across, so I'm looking forward to doing the same with the sequel. I also liked how the other demo didn't spoil the full game and added to it instead, more games could take a leaf out of Square Enix's book and do more 'prequel' demos instead of a chunk of the actual game.
Absolutely loved the first game and the way they handled the demo with it. it was well worth putting in the effort to unlock some decent bonus equipment to start with and im looking forward to doing the same with the sequel.
@DrkBndr I had never noticed that before and I'm totally gutted that it was only available for a limited time. I could understand that the would stop supporting it in terms of updates but I imagined that it would have used the info from the standard street view server. I guess I will have to catch the rest of the aliens pretty quickly if I want to finish the rest of this game before they shut it down.
@faint I got my wiiu November 2013 when the app was no longer available for free. The app wasn't free for 18 months like you said, only for about 9 months and I literally missed getting it for free by a couple of days. So long Wii street u, its been good while it lasted.
I really liked this app, used it a lot for planning journeys etc. But I paid full price for this and feel ripped off by Nintendo for having it removed and not being given a refund. I paid for the internet browser on the wii and they refunded everybody back for those that paid, I just hope they decide to do that this time again.
Got the first episode on Android for 7p and thought it was OK. Better than a lot of other games but not Telltale's best. 'Wolf among us' is my favourite but I doubt that will ever make it to the wiiu , however I may pick this up if it would mean that they may port some of their other games over. I think Strongbad deserves a rerelease. I have it on WiiWare but I would love to see it updated with the gamepad.
It would be great if they could update Splatoon for Lan play. It would mean getting a lot of people over with their own wiiu but it would be great for little private tournements.
ive enjoyed watching esports from time to time and as long as they treat it as a seperate entity and cover non activision / blizzard games in the same way as they would their own, I cant see a problem with this. if they stop showing or cut back on other companies games then I think that is a very sad thing.
Already own the game and im in Europe but to anyone who is on the fence about this game and doesn't manage to bag a free copy, it is well worth the price on the eShop. Survival is a beast, but once you start to get used to the difficulty its really worth the effort. Definetly looking forward to the 7th of Jan for the European update.
Some quite good discounts here, its a pity I have most of the decent ones... Still with quite a few priced between £1 and £2 pounds I may take a chance on a couple I had no interest in.
@liveswired multiplayer is split screen like other consoles, not on two different screens that is what the Cubelife update is all about. Minecraft displays on the gamepad what is on the main screen as far as I know so that is great for off TV play but not two separate screens for different players. It has online multiplayer so it has that going for it.
Mabey the reason why many people are expecting an inferior port could be down to Notch slating the wiiu on Twitter last year and Daniel Kaplain basicly saying that due to the wiiu's small install base and the over saturation of the minecraft market it wasnt in their interest to invest the time and money porting it to the wiiU. Mabey it would be good for Nintendolife to get an interview from one of these guys to justify why us naysayers and the ones on the fence should part with cold hard cash.
Well on the plus side Cubelifes 1.1 update has been submited to Nintendo ready for release this month. They already use the gamepad for touchscreen inventory and tne update uses the second screen as a second player screen. Even for those not interested in Cubelife it still may give Minecraft the push it needs to update their game sooner than later, but for those that enjoy Cubelife its the good news we have been waiting months for.
@Darknyht There are some really insightful things in what you have said but that doesn't change the fact that the average wiiu user is 35 years old and would have been expecting something other than this as the "big news", this will indeed sell lots of units to the young user base but those are also not the ones checking out sites like this and following twitter accounts waiting for the next big announcement. Simply put, although I agree with you that Nintendo would see this as a big deal , their average 35 year old gamer may not and be pretty disappointed in this being " the big news"
@OorWullie I haven't got a problem with the game itself. Bit disappointed that this was the big announcement, I was hoping for another Nindies offer just in time for Christmas. The issue I have is with the price and like you say it may be cheaper on Amazon when it finally gets a physical release but $30 is too much for me for something I already own. For those who haven't had the means to get it anywhere else then fair enough, but for me and I expect many others, will wait for a decent price drop or offer before taking the plunge.
@OorWullie if I try to buy any of the versions in the UK they all come out under £15 , even if Nintendo decide to use the current exchange rate it still makes it £20 ... and usually we get screwed over in the UK regarding game prices. Pretty much whatever it is in dollers is what it is in pounds. If the wiiu version was £15 I would have no problems but when you can pick up the Xbone and the PS4 for £15 it really seems like they are taking advantage of wiiu owners.
@banacheck Why not, Cubelife burned its way up the charts only being held off the top spot by Splatoon. I can't see, if this is indeed the reason, to charge an additional $10 because they don't expect it to do as well when if it was already at the $20 mark it would be a no brainer. I've enjoyed Minecraft in its many, many, god its been on so many different platforms already and the thing I can't justify is its $10 NintendoTax.
Now when this fails to burn up the charts and bring in the big money who are they going to blame? Nintendo because only first party games blah blah blah... WiiU owners for one thing or another... Who knows, but they certainly won't think it's anything to do with the fact that it's available on everything else, available at a much better price or even the fact that those of us who got sick and tired of waiting for a wiiu version may well have picked up one of the other similar titles on the eShop.
This was the big announcement... got it on PC, Android and 360. Seems that its just too late to the party, unless this becomes the ultimate version of the game I cant see why I need to pay as much as that. if it was half the amount it may have been worth picking up but as I see it, its just too expensive to justify buying a 4th version.
I'm still planning on buying it but my kids are priority on my wallet this time of year. Either I will get it as a gift or in New year, but I'm definitely getting this title.
Mabey the NX will be a platform instead of specific hardware. Something along the lines of Steam but with a Nintendo twist. They may even run the store on 3DS and WiiU hardware or even have the option of picking up a specific made box that will run the store and play the games. That way they will be able to make the NX available to everybody without people having to make any major investment. This will appeal to Smartphone gamers and PC gamers alike. Our household was a multiple console household but now we mainly use WiiU / steam for home gamers and 3DS for handheld. So a Nintendo version of Steam will be myi deal scenario.
Looks like a game I had on the GameCube... But that is a good thing. I played it to death and would love to play it again. I'm not one for racing games but I enjoyed the bright neon, pounding soundtrack and overall feeling of speed and this game looks just as good.
I preferred Atic Atac to Binding of Isaac anyway. Nintendo should expand the VC to include Spectrum games or somebody should remake Atic Atac so we can all enjoy the original.
The only thing I noticed about EA stopping support of the wiiU was how little I cared about EA games. I used to enjoy some of the games, sure but when they stopped supporting wiiu, it was just meh to me. Ubisoft on the other hand I really seemed to notice. I suspect that this lack of support may come back to bite them in the rear if the NX is a success whereas Ubisoft and Activision will still have a Nintendo fan base due to not pulling out completely.
Never regretted buying the wiiu. I've really enjoyed my experience with it although I've had frustrations finding shops with a decent selection of games but I've really made most of the eShop. Probably my second favourite console after the Dreamcast. I really hope whatever the NX ends up being, I hope it is fully backward compatible with wiiu for those people who didn't play it this generation.
