There is a couple of DSiware games with online multiplayer so its nice that there going to be 3DS ones too. I would like to see Spotpass and Streetpass features incorperated into 3DSware as well.
Oh, I know you were not complaining or being sarcastic about the video. I was backing up what you were saying and hopefully people who may not have done already will check it out.
@Ren The video is actually very good and the 3D effects work well because you see plenty of depth in the orchestra. Even though it isnt what everybody would be interested in, its still worth checking out if it ever goes stateside. Im hoping that we get the Dreamworks goodies that you guys have been getting sometime soon.
This is Nintendo Europe we are talking about here. There next press release will be for the release of their new handheld console that has a monochrome display and uses AA batteries. lol
I really dont see what the deal is here, Monster Hunter 3G hasnt been announced as being released outside Japan and like Monster Hunter G on the wii it probably wont be. It will still sell well enough in Japan and all the money will probably get ploughed into Monster Hunter 4, which also like Monster Hunter Tri on the wii, will probably get a worldwide release with the inclusion of Online Multiplayer. It just looks exactly what they did with the wii.
Not only is there just the one Golf game released on the 3DS and nothing for the wii or DSi. There is no incentive to download this if you have the Nes Golf game that all the Ambassadors got.
I enjoyed Mercenaries as a shallow online arcade game that it is, but this would be a single player game for me. Im interested in what the multiplayer would be and how it would work because any online functionality would be welcomed, but aside from some Resident Evil spin offs Resident Evil will always be a single player game to me.
Thanks Cipher, been checking the shop since 1pm. lol Usually Nintendolife have already told us what we are getting so im not so eager in checking but hadnt heard a thing this week.
@cammy In England we got a 3D advert from SKY TV as well for a meerkat program which was pretty nice actually, for an advert.
I think it would also be good for finding players for online 3DS games. Ive started one up for the Resident EVil Mercs thread and im sure as more and more online games come out it because much easier to find players.
No doubt they will package it with a 3DS program along the lines of wiispeak that way they would try and justify a £25 purchase rather than get a cheeper third part version that would no doubt be released.
The big question is will the 3DS music program still be as quiet as it is now. THe other programs sound fine on regular headsets but unless you are in a very quiet room you cannot hear the music program propperly.
Luckily I live in a 3 x Dsi & a 3DS household so the local multiplayer is fine, but im suprised by how well the single player works. Having two young children in the house the single player mode is a great way for them to learn the game and then we are all up to speed when playing multiplayer.
Then you are saying that Yoshinori Ono is ridiculous because the producer of Street Fighter IV himself stated that the 3DS version will be a perfect port of the PS3 and XBox 360 version of the game. So far not only are you making very poor points you are also arguing with statements made by one of the most respected games analysts and the producer of one of the games that was in his own words "ported" from the PS3/ 360 version. You are getting further and further off topic, this all started when somebody said the additional circle pad would make it more likely that we will see developers making their games on both systems because of the similarities in control setup which is very much a possibility.
This could be the start of a beautiful friendship. Congrats on the inclusion on the eShop. I really hope it becomes a regular thing and mabey even an internet link from the shop for people who have been living under a rock and never heard of Nintendolife.
Yeah!!! Nintendolife has its own gaming selection on the eShop. Thats definetly one way of improving the quality of the eShop... now if that means NoE takes notice of Nintendolife, where are the eShop prepay cards?
Awww, unfair. I really loved my Game Gear and the games on the system. It really did eat batteries though. lol Never really bothered by the Gameboy till it went to the GBA and then it was a day one purchase for me with that.
In all fairness thought I was one of those in the SEGA camp during the Sega vs Nintendo days, when it was friendly competition rather than the bloodshed of todays gaming wars.
Funny because the term "port" comes from the word "portable" rather than "import" and portable is derived from a latin word which means to carry over. Thus anything that could be "carried over" from one thing to another no matter how big or small the amount is deemed "portable" and true somethings are never really that "portable" due to the amount of additional work that is involved, by making hardware very simlar between systems means that less work is required to make it "portable".
@ SUBTERRANEANboy If you wont listen to us mabey you will listen to a proffesional analyst from Electronic Entertainment Design and Research "The days of publishers developing a single game for multiple technologically differentiating platforms are over,Madden NFL 09 for example was developed for the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP, all of which required at least 4 different internal teams. If the 3DS rumors are true and Nintendo plans to add a second analog stick, it would at least group the Vita and 3DS into the same category. While the technological differences would require additional development resources, more so than when an Xbox 360 title is ported to the PS3 (or vice versa), adding a second analog stick to the 3DS at least make game porting between itself and the Vita possible." - Jesse Divnich
Thank you, somebody who gets it. Just because the 3DS doesnt have as much under the hood as the Vita doesnt mean that they cant port games to it, and as Blurays implied this new atachment may just be the push developers needed to even think about porting their game over. Which has to be a good thing overall because it will only mean more titles for the system.
@MetalMario I hear ya, im still waiting to get my hands on an eShop card, but as an Ambassador I have really been having a blast with the past. That doesnt mean that I dont want brand new made for the 3DS titles as well, its all down to the mood im in. I think Nintendo is doing a good job with remastering some of the classics though (StarFox & Zelda) because if you have a history with a game you dont mind dated graphics and sound etc. but "youngsters" who have never played these titles may not be willing to give them a chance if it hadnt been for the facelifts they have been given.
@SUBTERRANEANboy taken for the Nintendolife profile & review itself... "Resident Evil™ The Mercenaries 3D features re-mastered stages from Resident Evil ™ 4 and Resident Evil™ 5, delivering the intense Mercenaries gameplay experience for the first time on a handheld console."
"Low-key 3D aside, the visuals are reasonably impressive. The characters and locations from Resident Evil 5 have naturally taken quite a hit in terms of complexity, but they remain a close match despite jagged models and low-resolution textures. "
So although not perfect and by no means a direct port, so as Blurays pointed out "The attachment just makes it easier for Activision and the big publishers to port there other games from the PSvita." of which he makes a fair point. It makes it easier to port them over due to the similar control system.
Have you actually played Mercs and Resi 4 & 5... You will find that most of the content is Resi 5 based not Resi 4 based. And what of the Street Fighter IV port, you failed to mention anything about that aside from your rhetoric of "ports arnt possible" and at no point did I nor blurays say anything of direct ports. If you actually read my statement you would have understood how they work.
The power has nothing to do with it, once the basics are in place publishers can reduce textures use alternative sources etc to make ports work. Take Capcom for instance they managed to port a version of Street Fighter IV to the 3DS and basically ported the Mercs mode from Resident Evil 5 to the 3DS, so yeah I can see the possibilty of Vita ports on the 3DS.
@LordAndrew "I'm not sure how StreetPass interactions would work when an updated system communicates with an un-updated system, hopefully the unsupported features are just silently ignored by the older system and doesn't cause problems."
If you play any games that use Streetpass features like DoA, Nintendogs, Street Fighter etc... those features only pass to other systems that also use the feature but will only show up as a normal Streetpass hit to people who dont, so I would imagine that any systems that havnt been updated would work exactly the same. However I would imagine that you could still use Streetpasses from those who havnt updated on new Quest levels and suchlike because something like that wouldnt depend on or affect their systems but there is nothing to stop you using their mii. Until we know what new Streetpass features they are going to add we will never know. One of the Streetpass features I use, nobody out of the fifty hits ive had use it and that is the 3D music Streetpass feature and I dont think that causes any problems.
Hopefully this will be an optional controller for those titles announced and not mandatory. At £12 I would probably give it a go but I would hate to think that it would be essential for those games.
The way NoE are at the moment, they will have been in the shops, sold out and then not being produced anymore. NoE have been a joke in regards to keeping us informed about the prepay cards and the Ambassador scheme. If it wasnt for sites such as Nintendolife us Europeans would know nothing. Mabey NoE should pay you lot to control their press releases and be their personal mouthpiece because whoever is running it at the moment is doing a terrible job.
Hmmmmm, mabey the rumour is based on some bits of truths... rather than the full redesign Nintendo could mabey be working on an attachment that could work with specific games or add extra functions to exsisting games in a "wii-motion plus" kind of way. Then who knows when 3DS mk2 gets released and there are more games available with the dual analog stick functions they will release it with two pads instead of one just like they have done with the new wiimotes (where motion+ is built in)
I couldnt see Nintendo trying to annoy early adopters anymore than they have done after they have reduced to price so much and then try to apease them with free games.
I was an early adopter and im happy there is a price drop. Sure I may have paid more than anybody who will mid August but over the last 3 or 4 months I have racked up 272 hours and 28 mins of playtime. With the Ambasador program, the DLC content for Sam Warriors & DoA I really dont feel I have lost out on any money and the increased number of new owners will surely benefit me in more games being produced and even more Streetpass oppertunities.
He is doing a great thing. Whereas other companies may have made cuts elsewhere including losing staff he has done an amazing thing by cutting his salery in half. Sure he isnt going to be broke or going to starve or anything, but if he hadnt have taken the hit and it was left to cutting jobs, those he would have had to let go would have suffered terribly. Well done, Nintendo has just shot up in my expectations.
If it is an issue with the marks the Aqua Blue does it too, how come they havnt stopped selling that one? Anyhoo, most places I have seen sell them at different prices anyway with the Black one always being quite a bit cheaper than the Blue so mabey they were just running their stock down and then just selling the Blue due to lack of interest in the Black.
I enjoyed the wiiware I bought and I used to buy atleast one 2000 point Nintendo card a month but I dont think Nintendo presented the software as well as it could have. I think websites like this one have been the only reason why any of the titles had sold at all. The quality of most of the games have been pretty good but the way they have been sold and announced and even the regularity and quantity of releases have been quite poor. Which is such a shame because I would really reccommend a majority of the wiiware titles I have purchased.
I put loads of hours into Tri at the begining but because it was on our main TV I was unable to continue with the dedication. They say the 3DS is as powerfull pretty much to the wii, so although I dont want a port I would really be happy playing a similar set up as Tri but on the 3DS. I own Mercs and SFIV and with the exception of only one or two laggy matches on each game the online has been nice, solid and stable. If they could replicate that with a four player online hunt like on the wii I would be very happy.
Dont forget the UK is also getting Sky TV, Eurosport and Aardman animation content. Im sure we would love to have Netflix but those three providers should have more than enough content for us to get on with at the moment... all we need now is BBC iPlayer on the 3DS like we do on the wii.
@nmozdzier ...??? They have been incorperating playcoins into games, Super Street Fighter lets you buy Figures with them, DOA lets you buy "presents" with them, Resident Evil unlocks weapon sets with them and Samurai Warriors lets you exchange them for ingame cash. That is four outa the five games I own.
I imagine it will probably work as it did with the PokeDex... It will download an icon to your home menu and when you click it, it will prompt you to download. 3DSware and Dsiware demos will be great but if they want to push a retail game mabey they would be able to make a small enough demo for the system, I know 3DS games have much larger capacity carts but I think some parts of some of the retail games without the video clips and suchlike may be able to get stripped down for a demo. Mario Kart with one or two courses and a generic driver just like the DS download play shouldnt be too large and the Street Fighter demo that is included on the retail version that you send to your friends should be small enough for a retail demo.
Resident Evil Remake on the gamecube had the perfect atmosphere, the original on the Playstation/ Saturn was a bit cheesy but in a good way. A great tribute to B-Movies. Playing the demo on the Mercs game showed me it had potential to reproduce the atmosphere of Resident Evil REmake and although it was way too short and wasnt as fully functioning as it will be when finished, basically it just used the mercs control system with unlimited ammo and no inventory system, it did get me excited on how the full game will be when its released. Why we never got this demo instead of the "PILOT" version I dont know, im sure it would have only made people want the game more rather than be dissapointed in a 2-5minuite rough demo.
Live in a REALLY small town and carry my 3DS everywhere and now I have a population of 24 and about 40 hits… so to everyone whose out there without any/many stick with it because you never know when you get a day where you get about nine hits in one day and you suddenly see your plaza double in size.
Ive enjoyed the two mii plaza streetpass games, but Ive also enjoyed the ones that come with some of the other games like the StreetFighter Streetpass battles and to some degree the Streetpass battles with Samurai Warrior Chronicles. What I would like them to develop a mii game similar to the Streetpass battle using miis. Mabey the colours of the outfit would act like a rock, paper Scissors format and you can put together a team from mii's you have collected. Just an idea, but something like that would mabey have some decent legs... mabey they could incorperate the Pokedex into a FindMii game.
The Mario Kart really does look good as a 3D trailer, the video on the Nintendo channel wasnt able to capture how nice it looks on the small screen. This is why Nintendo needed to offer these trailers, watching videos on something other than the system you are playing just cant do them justice. Star Fox looks very good too. Wasnt too bothered about getting it because I have Lylat Wars on the Virtual Console but after seeing the 3D trailer I may change my mind.
hmmm, read the article on electricpig again and it isnt confirmed, just implied. I got my hopes up when it mentioned July 19th as the launch date for 3DS TV.
I think NoE have had enough of the complaining because not only has this been announced they have also announced 3DS TV to released mid-July... now all we need are the eShop cards and mabey a messaging system then all is forgiven.
At least you get a chance to unlock stuff on RE:Mercs. I would have had a lot more fun and spent more time on Street Fighter had we had to unlock some of the characters rather than having all the characters and outfits unlocked from the start.

Re: Officially Licensed 3DS Headset Revealed, Priced and Dated
Mmmmm... just relised as well that they plan for a November release which just so happens to be when the next big 3DS update is planned to be.
3DS Speak? Skype app perhaps?? After all the Android version supports video chat now and that works very well.
Re: Officially Licensed 3DS Headset Revealed, Priced and Dated
No doubt they will package it with a 3DS program along the lines of wiispeak that way they would try and justify a £25 purchase rather than get a cheeper third part version that would no doubt be released.

Re: First Impressions: Resident Evil Revelations
Re: Iwata Discusses More Built-In 3DS StreetPass Games
Live in a REALLY small town and carry my 3DS everywhere and now I have a population of 24 and about 40 hits… so to everyone whose out there without any/many stick with it because you never know when you get a day where you get about nine hits in one day and you suddenly see your plaza double in size.
Re: Iwata Discusses More Built-In 3DS StreetPass Games
Ive enjoyed the two mii plaza streetpass games, but Ive also enjoyed the ones that come with some of the other games like the StreetFighter Streetpass battles and to some degree the Streetpass battles with Samurai Warrior Chronicles.
What I would like them to develop a mii game similar to the Streetpass battle using miis. Mabey the colours of the outfit would act like a rock, paper Scissors format and you can put together a team from mii's you have collected. Just an idea, but something like that would mabey have some decent legs... mabey they could incorperate the Pokedex into a FindMii game.
Re: European 3DS eShop Gets 3D Trailers Tomorrow
The Mario Kart really does look good as a 3D trailer, the video on the Nintendo channel wasnt able to capture how nice it looks on the small screen. This is why Nintendo needed to offer these trailers, watching videos on something other than the system you are playing just cant do them justice.
Star Fox looks very good too. Wasnt too bothered about getting it because I have Lylat Wars on the Virtual Console but after seeing the 3D trailer I may change my mind.
Re: European 3DS eShop Gets 3D Trailers Tomorrow
hmmm, read the article on electricpig again and it isnt confirmed, just implied. I got my hopes up when it mentioned July 19th as the launch date for 3DS TV.
Re: European 3DS eShop Gets 3D Trailers Tomorrow
I think NoE have had enough of the complaining because not only has this been announced they have also announced 3DS TV to released mid-July... now all we need are the eShop cards and mabey a messaging system then all is forgiven.
Re: Review: Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D (3DS)
At least you get a chance to unlock stuff on RE:Mercs. I would have had a lot more fun and spent more time on Street Fighter had we had to unlock some of the characters rather than having all the characters and outfits unlocked from the start.
