Re: Nintendo Switch Online To Launch In Hong Kong And South Korea

RandomNerds

@TheAwesomeBowser Well it was really a two part joke (a bad one).

Part 1: South Korea has some of the best internet in the world so surely any service would be highly usable if operating within it. So to imply it might struggle is a joke.

Part2: I joked about Nintendos online services being “demanding” because the popular opinion is that said services are quite basic and backwards, hence it’s not even close to demanding. That being said if the code base and hardware that powers it are inefficient it might actually be demanding despite being limited. So yeah... Funny...

Jokes are funnier explained in detail!

Re: Activision Blizzard Lays Off Hundreds Despite "Record Year", A Far Cry From Nintendo's Caring Approach

Saw Diablo on sale in the eshop last night after reading this on Polygon and didn't pull the trigger as a result. Not saying I'm boycotting them, but it made me feel gross to think about giving them money while they're letting people go (needlessly depending on how you look at it).

That being said I'm sure this was the plan all along, (Crush out products, hit record numbers, lower overhead to keep all the cash while a 2019/2020 strategy gets figured out). Capitalism can be very ugly.

Re: Nintendo Switch Firmware 7.0.0 Already Hacked Just Four Hours After Going Live

I’m not necessarily against hacking, but I’m certainly against stealing. That being said it seems people always get worked up about a console being hacked, however isn’t a PC the most hackable gaming platform, almost by design?

Anyway, this sort of thing is how we’re going to end up with always on Internet connections being required for DRM checks. See XBox One E3 annoucement.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

RandomNerds

@SwitchForce But why would I do it? What could my possible motive be? What do I get by “misleading” people about the facts of physical purchases vs digital ones? I’ll say my quick comment didn’t include a complete list of pros and cons for each, but I was just stating that I prefer digital and it’s because most games today require patches that have to be downloaded so the benefit of buying physical to protect your library into the future is lost in some cases. You don’t have to agree, but to say I’m trying to mislead people is absurd.

Re: Last Year's N64 Trademark Has Finally Been Approved, N64 Mini On The Way?

RandomNerds

I think it will be part of the online subscription service. I don't see Nintendo putting out a physical N64 with 4 controller ports, good luck finding 4 controllers if they do, plus that will be expensive. Seriously the controller alone is twice as big as any of the other Classic Consoles.

Come to think of it if they did release a physical controller there would be a freaking run on them every time they were in stock. N64 control sticks wear out and parts are becoming harder to find every year. I'd buy 4 brand new Nintendo made N64 controllers right now if I could.
