It's no secret that PlatinumGames has an interest in porting The Wonderful 101 to Switch; back in July 2017, the company posted an apparent tease of a Switch port to social media, before publicly asking fans to get on board with the idea the following April. Thankfully, for fans of the game, it doesn't look like this interest is showing any sign of slowing down just yet.
Atsushi Inaba, head producer at PlatinumGames and producer of The Wonderful 101 on Wii U, has reportedly spoken of his desires to release the game on Switch in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine. According to ryokutya2089 (and translated by @bk2128), Inaba mentions that one of his goals for the future is to release the game into the world once again.
In a rather comical twist, Inaba reportedly goes on to mention words previously spoken by PlatinumGames' Hideki Kamiya, joking that the game has only been played by 13 people worldwide. Presumably, the feeling at Platinum is that it deserves a second chance to win over a much larger audience, which is something that the super-popular Switch would hopefully be able to provide. Inaba notes that he wants to "secretly" announce the game for Nintendo's latest machine (although it wouldn't be all that secretive now, of course).

Never had a Wii U myself. Games like this deserve another chance to amaze the world.
It was a fun game. Hopefully, the Port Everything To Switch (PETS) initiative is successful also for this hidden gem.
It was such a great game, once you got it - one of my most favorite games on Wii U. Storytelling and Gameplay was superb. I would buy a Switch Port Day One.
Game devs need to stop teasing. Either put their games on Switch or shut up as otherwise they are just disappointing people and giving unrealistic hope.
Henshin A Go Go Baby!
Never had a chance to play this one. I'd definitely be interested.
@SBandy Couldn't agree more.
Its price on Wii U quickly rose, so I couldn't get it. This is a port that wouldn't bother me.
This is my second most wanted Wii U port (Xenoblade X being #1) I sold my Wii U, but I would gladly buy the Switch version of this game to be able play it again. The demo for this game almost convinced me not to buy it... It was an awful demo. Fortunately I decided to go for the gamble and I LOVED IT
I would love this on Switch.
Do it Platinum!
@SBandy I agree it’s always maybe or if there is enough interest I’m getting bored of reading the same old headlines there are enough people out there who own a switch just put the games out. You don’t get devs saying this about any other format
Makes me think it's not getting announced on the Direct, unless they're being mischievous.
I got it for free with Mario Kart 8, what a great deal that was!
It was a great game! Loved it for real.
i wish we had a sequel.
@leo13 I agree the demo was bad. It definitely stopped me buying the game.
I loved Xenoblade Chronicles X and can't see why it wouldn't be adapted to Switch.
Such a great game, but it struggles to get the recognition it deserves. The game doesn't truly shine until the second play through which meant that a lot of people who played it didn't even get to see the best side of it. When the battle system clicks though... Oh boy, it's one of the best action games ever made.
I want to see an improved version of this title. It was possibly the most innovative 1st party title for the WiiU (well this or Splatoon)
While I'm against the continuous porting of Wii U titles to Switch - this is one I would fully support IF it's implemented right. This is such an underrated title that like Bayonetta, only gains followers over time.
To clarify - I'm only against Wii U porting as it seems to have replaced original titles being produced by Nintendo and delays my inevitable purchase of a console. None of the "Deluxe" titles are worthy of a double dip & console purchase as yet. Pikmin 4 however......
Never did finish this so I'd buy again if only to support Platnium.
While I had a Wii-U myself and have most of the games ported. I don't see ports as a negative, the sales figures for all the ports so far are ridiculously strong.
Many people didn't get to experience these games so its nice to see them get that chance to succeed better. I just want Tokyo Mirage Sessions myself 😛
I have the game digitally on Wii U, it was free thanks to a promotion they ran at some point, I forget the specifics of it.
I played it briefly but unfortunately didn't commit to it, I maybe was not into the GamePad control scheme with how formations are made.
Cool for them, but no one wants this excuse of a game.
An amazing game that deserves another chance
I was one of the 13. Awesome game.
One of my favorite Wii U games I would love for this to come to switch
They might as well release it on the Switch, they sold 13 copies so it seems everyone that bought a WiiU owned a copy.. think how much it would sell on Switch!
I kid! I kid!
@Tirza 27 comments so far and about 20 show interest in getting the game, including myself. Might need to recheck that analysis.
It will be interesting to see how they handle the transition of gameplay away from the GamePad if they rereleased this for Switch. The pad was integral for this game.
I am totally okay with ports of Wii U games. Unlike some people...
But this one isn't one I was personally interested in.
Now... Mario Maker, Xenoblade X, Tokyo Mirage Session, Pikmin 3, the HD Zelda remasters... That'd be more up my ally. Personally.
This and Nier Automata!
I buy it again if a port lands on Switch but I do expect new stuffs to be included so that I feel like I got my money worth. Also a port of Madworld and Vanquish for Switch would be nice too.
@spideyroxas
That's how I look at it too. I owned a Wii-U and virtually every game that has been ported to Switch. But I have no problem with all of the ports. I just don't buy the ones I have already played. The ports are great though for the many gamers who didn't have a Wii-U.
@mjharper the gamepad wasn't that critical. Most of us drew the shapes with the joystick instead
Loved the game on Wii U and definitely would pick it up again on Switch. I'd like some control scheme tweaks as the gamepad isn't here and I always found the joystick alternative kind of clunky.
This was probably my favorite new IP on the Wii U (Sorry Splatoon and Nintendo Land, I love you too). This game needs a second chance, if only so I can play it on the go.
One of my favorite games ever. I’m expecting a W102 Platinum!!!
I struggled to get into it, I think it was the control scheme, might have to try again, but unlikely to get a Switch port.
This is one of those that I was mildly curious about but never did pick up. For the right price, I'd consider a Switch variant.
@MaSSiVeRiCaN 20 people. Well, 3 more than people who actually bought this on Wii U.
@Tirza Most comments on here are positive and worthy of a purchase for those that didn't buy it on Wii U. I already have it, but if it re-releases on Switch, if it has enough new content.
If you didn't like the game then it's not for you and I hear that, but don't think your opinion of it is mandatory for everyone else.
Still have my WiiU copy. Would not be willing to double dip, but it is a fantastic game and would be 'wonderful' in handheld mode on the Switch.
Fix the controlls and maybe we will talk.
It's sad that they have to keep saying that they want to port it, but they can't actually do it without Nintendo's go ahead since it's the latter who owns the IP >.<
I really want W101 to get another chance on the Switch, that game was absolutely fantastic! It was a wild ride, one I thoroughly enjoyed and it was overlooked sadly cause the Wii U was dying when it launched.
