I'm excited about new features, but 6.0 needs to bring some surprises for it to be interesting. Also, new unexpected features would draw some scrutiny away from how successful the online service is at launch.
I hope this comes with a major firmware update that adds some new feature to the OS.
Would love to see:
Folders
Themes
shop overhaul
Nintendo’s version of achievments/trophies
Streaming services (though not really an OS thing)
A miiverse succesor
Bluetooth headset support
High perfomance mode when in handheld mode but charging
Move mesaging and voice chat to the system itself
A dedicated Nintendo Direct App
And of course more frick’n stability
@Bunkerneath 3D was a sellling point for me, but in this market the lowest price point possible is a much bigger selling point for late adopters who just want the quickest/cheapest access to the 3DS library.
@Realnoize As you said, "because it's a dongle." But honestly because I have a headset that seamlessly switches between my phone, my computer, and my tablet all via bluetooth and I'd just like a nice clean setup. But seriously direct bluetooth headset support would be amazing the go.
I just realized that this feature is practically useless to me without the ability to get audio via bluetooth headset. Oh well still nice to have for people without a better way to access those apps.
@kobashi100 I mean maybe you're right, but they are currently only putting limited budgets toward Switch ports and dedicated Switch games. So what can be done?
Nintendo should release a dock with it's own GPU that allows developers to make AAA games for Switch. Yeah I get it, it's odd to have a separate library of games that you can only play when docked and honestly I don't need most of the games that are skipping the switch, but in terms of business they need to make something with enough horsepower in it so the game devs can include the Switch in their normal development road map instead of making a completely new game just for switch.
I think this E3 is going to be tough for Nintendo because MS and Sony may slash some prices or reveal some great bundles that Nintendo is not ready to compete with. Also, I think it's pretty clear the online service is going to barebones and not be a major revenue driver consider it is so cheap. So not a a whole lot to be excited about as an investor, but as long as sales numbers keep booming they should be good for the long haul.
@marck13 Exactly. I doubled my money at 54 per share and got out then in had that big drop so I was pretty lucky. Getting back in before this pop would have been great. I think I'll leave it alone at least through E3.
I think it's worth noting that their stock price lost far more than it gained today just over the last two weeks. So really this is a nice recovery and not a huge gain for the year. I think these gains will be given back leading up to E3 as investor are always nervous about Nintendo not doing enough. What matters is post E3 and keeping those Switches moving off the shelves.
@thesilverbrick have never played either, I avoided it on PS3 because of all the bugs, I'm glad I get to play it for the first time on Switch in what is hopefully a much better experience.
It's a shame to see it go, posting screenshots to Facebook and Twitter is annoying to my non-gaming friends. Miiverse was a really cool dedicated social network for gaming. I wish it had received an update for switch, perhaps loading near-instantaneously would have helped people use it more often.
When the title of this game was announced with no additional info I rolled my eyes and wrote it off as cross-over trash. I can not believe how psyched I am for this game now and I can't believe how amazing the Switch is turning out to be.
The sooner we get all consoles away from rotating media the better. Optical drives are typically the fail point for most legacy devices and once the supply of replacment drives is gone they'll become incredibly difficult to fix.
I think mobile is only having a small impact on the price and already helped to elevate it a bit months ago. People are looking at the stock price back during the Wii era and they're speculating that the Switch will help the price per share reach that point and possibly surpass it, which alone is driving up their valuation. If Nintendo shows record hardware sales in the first year of the Switch's life and higher than expected profit margins come March that might actually happen. Either way it's an exciting time to be a share holder.
@datamonkey In ten years many things will be software/browser emulated with a hefty chunck of processing being bandled by "the cloud". That being said Nintendo is always working on new input methods so they'll likely always ship some form of hardware even if it's not a full on console.
I'm up over 40% and counting. I think they will hit at least 60 per share. I may dump it if I hit the 100% mark. I honestly hate investing in the stock market, it's purely gambling.
I've been trying to get excited about this game but I am just not. I suppose I'll be skipping it. Thankfully there' are some great releases on the horizon.
@ANeonChicken I agree. Remember when the PS3 would not allow you to access the crossmedia bar while playing a game, but the 360 gave you full access to its dashboard? It takes time build out features on a new product. It would just be nice if Nintendo would share parts of the Switch product roadmap with us.
I'm thinking about dumping my shares just before E3, it's just hard for Nintendo to stand out in a way that pleases investors and I'm guessing a PS4 price cut is coming and Scorpio info is looking positive. Thoughts?
I think it makes perfect sense. It's effectively a price cut (and feature cut) to maximize the number 3DS units they can shift before it walks off into the sunset for good.

Re: Rumour: A Hidden VR Settings Menu Appears To Have Been Found On Switch
@Sabroni Wow. Thanks for that very clear explanation.
Let's be serious, a 720p screen inches from your faces used for VR would be vomit inducing. 1080p for PSVR is just barely enough in my opinion.
