It’s cool gamestop is offering this. These are reasonable trade in prices considering what you can get on eBay for a used Switch console. It does bum me out to see so many in the comments with digital only catalogs. We must demand physical copies that can’t be taken away with the flip of the switch of a server. A physical media purchase means you own it, digital means you’re renting it at the pleasure/future success of that company. Sure you may not think you care about the ability to play a game in the future, but future you may not feel that way. If too many go digital, I fear this choice will be taken away in the future. A future devoid of unfettered retro gaming.
@CrankyBonesGaming I bet they’ll be backward compatible, but I wonder if there will be a way to charge the battery on the NES controllers. Surely there isn’t a way to physically attach them to the Switch 2. 🤔 In other words, will it be kinda a pain for people who never bought a Switch gen 1?
I'm more worried they don't have a Zelda game with which to launch it. If they're pinning their launch on Mario Kart 9, then I am worried about that. Maybe they're gonna use Metroid Prime 4? Not that Mario Kart isn't a top seller or that Mario Kart 9 won't be a good entry in the series, but I definitely am not spending $300+ on a console to play more Mario Kart. I got the Switch at launch because I needed to play BotW.
A lot of comments taking the threat of death from Donkey Kong literally. First of all, maybe dying and coming back with a 1-up is how life and death works in the Mario universe. But also, people squaring off for a competition often say they’re going to kill the competition, when really they just mean the metaphorical death of losing.
I like to play all versions of smash bros. on an N64 controller. If this would work with the NSO N64 pad, I think this would be a really handy mod for me. Currently I use a wired N64 controller with a cable converter. It works fine, but it’s not wireless.
The first one for NES is my all time favorite. I openly admit that it’s not the best one, but I can still remember that feeling of completing the underwater level, that was so unreasonably hard. It was like I legit disarmed a bomb and saved a real dam.
Just wanna jump in here and say Ogre Battle 64 on the Wii U virtual console is almost the only way to play that game. Playing it on N64 is a pain/risky move. More than once I’ve had the save data become corrupt on a file I had over 100 hours on. Before you say, “Emulation! Pirate it!” I would challenge anyone to find a working rom for it. And finally, aside from its ambitious design causing you to have to keep the game saves on a memory card, it’s a grievously under appreciated game.
I’m not terribly informed on the actual process of game making, but I imagine a lot of the work it will require is built upon the existing framework of BOTW, and therefore my guess is a release this year. When is a hard thing to figure. I’d say they will avoid Christmas, because it will burn the charts in December or any other month. Better to release mid year, for a sales resurgence during the holidays. An ignorant guess for sure, but it’s the best I got.
1) I like the artwork and 2) I like having them to play at my leisure. Nothing like playing the original game with an original controller, and finally 3) Every single time I've sold a video game I've regretted it.
You guys must be Huey Lewis, because this is the f$%#ing news. I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this console. Gameboy is my favorite console of all time, and this device is a beautiful love letter. I'm getting both colorways. 🤓
@Rect_Pola Thanks for getting exactly what I wanted to say ahead of me, so I don’t have to!
Micro-transaction games are flat out designed to be addictive, but so are many things that are perfectly legal. The issue that I think is difficult for many to see is that not everyone is susceptible to it. It’s the same with all kinds of things that can trigger addiction, whether it’s games, substances, gambling, etc. The majority of people can drink, gamble, play a video game and never be addicted to it. But if you are easily susceptible to addiction (due to environmental or genetic factors) these things that are harmless to most, can cause extremely negative results. I don’t know if a lawsuit is the answer or not, but I think it’s something of which people need to become aware.
I played the absolute hell out of House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return for Wii. With the Wii Remote and gun peripherals, it played perfect. I can't imagine that this release could top it.

Is the image of Fox an actual photograph of a puppet? Something about it is super creepy. Also, somewhat related, does Fox have robot legs? I am realizing now I don't know much about Fox aside from barrel rolls.
@Coalescence All creation involves copying. If you want to make something truly from scratch, you have to invent the universe. The layout and dialogue are not original, but everything you see is brand new. I appreciate this for what it is: really good practice, and a love letter to one of the greatest games of all time. Even if this was a 1:1 duplicate of the original, remaking it would be an amazing feat. All artforms require copying the masters.
I notice it the most when playing Akane. Has gotten me killed a lot. Eventually had to tag out for my other controller’s left Joy-Con. Overall the Joy-Con design is not up to the normal Nintendo standard.
I probably won’t be getting the Switch Lite, but I’m a total sucker for this kinda stuff. If Nintendo released this, I would have no choice but to buy it.
