If the Wii U could play Wii games and 3DS could play DS games, why wouldn't the Switch 2 play Switch 1 games? It's already been confirmed NSO will be on the next-gen system based on recent court filings, so why wouldn't the current library of games be carried over as well?
I've just started my first playthrough of BOTW, so at least I will have plenty of time to enjoy it before the sequel releases in a couple of years. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the game has in store.
I watched a showcase of The Messenger on an E3 livestream, and from what I saw of the game, I was genuinely impressed. This will be a title that I will definitely wait in anticipation for its release.
Considering the game is still sold physically in stores and on online retailers (the Wii U version comes right up after the Switch port on Amazon), it leads me to believe that this was a bug. If people were to search for the game, they would easily find out that it is an expensive port. While it does seem rather suspicious, I do not see why Nintendo would remove the game from the eShop just to prevent those who still use the Wii U eShop from buying it considering physical copies are still prevalent. Besides that, only the NA region is affected and not any of the other regions. Plus, no other Wii U port has been removed from the eShop after its Switch port released. This further leads me to believe that this is an isolated incident.
For the amount of content being offered, I don't really mind the cost too much. Since both Splatoon 1 and 2 have both received generous amounts of free content months past their launch dates, I can say that $20 is not too bad for all that we will get in return.
This will be a new entry in the series but similar to Smash 4. It will probably have updated textures and new stages and characters yet feel similar to the previous entry like Splatoon 2 is to the original.
I've been visiting the site less over the years ever since James left, but I will say that Tom has been a great editor and one of the best personalities on Nintendo Life. Whenever there is a live blog, I can always count on Thomas to be there and offer the best and often humorous commentary. The recent Game Awards blog was entertaining already, but he made that much more so. While I do not read his articles very often, he has certainly shaped the direction of the site for years and has fostered an ever growing community of fans who read his pieces with delight. Thanks for helping making what this site is today and good luck in your future endeavors.
I've been replaying the series recently and I'm now in the middle of Unwound Future. I hardly even replay games, but this series is special to me. I can only hope that this new entry can carry on the legacy of of the older titles.
I was glad to finally have something to spend the coins on. The theme and the videos may not be much, but they are better than any of the other offers.
Here is what I thought the Switch reveal was going to be like:
"We at Nintendo are all about innovation. This is why we have partnered with Apple, a leader of Chinese innovation, to bring you one of the newest and greatest pieces of technology to ever hit the market. Introducing the Nintendo NX - a smartphone that is capable of playing all of our newest games in 4K resolution. Say goodbye to physical buttons, because those are a thing of the past! With the Nintendo NX, the touchscreen is your controller.
"The Nintendo Switch will be a hybrid gaming system. It will connect to a television when resting in the Nintendo Switch Dock, and when lifted out of the dock, will "instantly transition to portable mode," according to Nintendo. The unit offers a "high-definition display," and features two detachable Joy-Con controllers, one on either side. Each Joy-Con controller can be slotted into an accessory called the Joy-Con Grip to "[mirror] a more traditional controller." The console will also support a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to be used instead of the detachable Joy-Con units." - Polygon
I bought a used copy of Skyward Sword on Amazon around a year ago that included the 25th anniversary cd. I haven't played it in a while mainly because I just have a hard time getting into it. It's really a love or hate game.
The original is on sale for $40 now and even comes in different bundles. Basically, the 3ds version and the Wii U version will cost the same at retail. I'll probably pick up the 3ds edition just for that Poochy amiibo though unless of course it's released by itself .
I remember my first Professor Layton game. It all started with Diabolical Box, my first venture into the series. After its completion, I picked up Curious Village and each game that followed it up to the very end. It is by far my favorite video game series. Although the Puzzle Master himself may be gone, he left behind an amazing legacy (no pun intended) that continues to inspire others to this very day.
Once I finish my playthrough of Skyward Sword, then I'll have TP HD to hold me over until Zelda U releases. Since I am/will be playing through both of these entries for the first time, I'm perfectly content with the wait.

As neat as this is, it's just a shame that it will not include the new content.

With the Nintendo NX, the touchscreen is your controller.
Besides having a stellar library of games pre-installed, such as Super Mario Run, Miitomo, Pokémon Go, and the never before seen New Nintendo Badge Arcade, the NX will also be NFC compatible, which means you can expect amiibo to be used in creative new ways. We are excited to announce that the first wave of Nintendo NX devices will also be bundled with an Arcade Bunny amiibo. Just tap this amiibo on your screen and every microtransaction will automatically be reduced by 5%! Please stay tuned for further information to follow in the upcoming months."
Boy am I glad that I was wrong!
