Re: Nintendo Defends Influx of New Mario Titles

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

This is just me, but I'd probably stick to one great 2D Mario, and one great 3D Mario per platform. However, I do want something along the lines of Mario 64 for the Wii U, which Super Mario 3D World is not. I'm not saying I won't get SM3DW, because I will, and I will have fun and enjoy it... but Mario 64, Mario Sunshine and Mario Galaxy were completely new experiences, unlike SM3DW which is really an addition to 3D Land. I think they are playing it a little too safe with 3D World. They said "3D Land sold well, and we need to sell Wii U's, so let's go with 3D World!". That's almost too obvious to a clever person like me. I already had a Wii U though, and I want innovation.

If creating a new IP is too much of a risk, how about brining back some of the neglected IP's such as Star Fox, F-Zero, 1080 Snowboarding, Wave Racer, Kid Icarus, ect.. for Wii U my beloved Nintendo? I want the Wii U to succeed in the eyes of gamers, not just the casual masses. Bringing back those long forgotten IP's will do that. People love Nintendo for a reason, and it's not just Mario, even though he is a big part of Nintendo and obviously the face of the company. For good reason, at that. I'm just saying there is more to Nintendo than Mario.

Re: Impressions: Multiplayer is a Big Deal in Nintendo's Wii U Lineup

Even though I prefer a "Single Player" experience more, it's great that Nintendo provides an experience for every type of play. Super Mario 3D World with Local Multiplayer, Mario Kart 8 with Online Multiplayer, and Wind Waker HD Single Player. I look forward to each and every one of them, and more. The latter part of this year is really solid for Wii U. I'm extremely stoked for Pikmin 3!

Re: Talking Point: New Super Luigi U Opens The Door For Quick Expansions in Other Franchises

As others have said, I think Kart would be perfect for DLC. New characters and new Cups would be great! As far as SSB goes, it'd be cool on the facade, but with fighting games balance is extremely important and they would have to make sure to go through those lengths so everything is good and even.

Everyone should know by the way Nintendo games get delayed that they don't ship crappy incomplete games. There might be some exceptions, but that is the rule.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Wii U Lineup Makes Commercial Sense

@RIC616 I have to pretty much agree with all of that comment. Who knows, they could do a Nintendo Direct in a few weeks just as they did last year that has some great new information on unannounced upcoming games as well. I really don't think Nintendo likes E3 because there is so much gaming news that comes from it. They would rather save the big announcements, like Zelda U, for a time when they can get the entire spotlight to themselves.

@DiSTANToblivion I'm certainly excited for X! It's my most anticipated title for the Wii U, but I love JRPG's. I don't know how many people are into them, really. The Japanese definitely like them more than Americans and Europeans, for the most part.

I was initially disappointed, probably due to the horrible stream freezing every 3 seconds and lagging, but after watching the Nintendo Direct again in 720p and watching the developer interviews I am really happy with what they are doing. Sure, I would have loved and I want a Star Fox or Metroid or StarTropics or new IP from Retro, but Tropical Freeze looks really good. I've never played Bayonetta but that is looking really cool. And originally I wasn't all about The Wonderful 101, but the more I see the more I want that.

Re: Nintendo Reveal Why Its 3D Mario Title Isn't Super Mario Galaxy 3

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I think the people wanting a new "Galaxy" game are missing the point. What they should want is something that is beyond imagination, like the first Galaxy was, like Mario 64 was, and even like Sunshine was. This is going to be fun and sell well, but it's not the innovative wow that some people wanted. I guess I'll just have to make my own wow someday. Until then, this is going to be fun! The more I see, the better it looks.

Re: Super Mario 3D World is "The Grand Culmination" of The Best Ideas From Past 3D Mario Titles

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I was a bit disappointed this morning, but I think that had to do with the fact that I was so excited to watch the Direct and the lag and freezing was bad enough to the point that I couldn't watch it. After calming down a bit and watching it lag free in HD I was pretty happy. This game looks fun, even though it's not the type of "3D Mario" I was expecting. I guess I just wanted a little too much from Retro as well, but DKCR:TF is looking spiffy. Still, I want Star Fox U. They just played it really safe, a little too safe for me. If it works, I'll be happy! I'll still get most of these games, as they look like a lot of fun. As far as this year, with Pikmin 3, DKCR, Wind Waker HD, and Mario 3D World on Wii U I guess I can't complain. "X" seems completely awesome too!

Re: Feature: The Humble Origins of Animal Crossing

I was thinking about going the digital route for this, but I have two 3DS' so I guess I'm going with the cartridge. If my beloved Nintendo had a better online strategy I'd probably download it. It seems like a game you'd want to have with you all the time. I'm an Animal Crossing noob!

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS)

Next week's schedule: Sunday - Animal Crossing New Leaf, Monday through Thursday - E3, Tuesday - Wii U Nintendo Direct, Friday - The Last of Us, Friday Night - Man of Steel 3D

Greatness.

@Superconsole Good review! The length was just fine and conveyed a good amount of information.

Re: Pachter Predicts Wii U Price Cut, Feels Nintendo Is Losing "Non-Traditional" Players To Social And Mobile

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

Personally, I have an iPhone 5 and love it. However, I hate gaming on it. Handheld game devices might become a bit more niche in the West but they will always dominate in the homeland.

If the Wii U sees a price cut, no big deal. The more people that have the console, the better for those that already do. We just need some games! Pikmin 3 can't come out soon enough.

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th June (Europe)

Hey EU friends: Tetris Axis is totally worth that reduced price! I think I paid $30 for it when it first came out and I have no regrets. Not everyone likes Tetris, but to those that do I would recommend it for that extremely low price.

@beat You can do anything your heart desires friend! I'd save the money and wait though. However, learning Japanese is a great idea. Oh what the heck, I'll go with ya to Japan, and then we can tour Studio Ghibli headquarters as well as get some games early.
