Re: Dylan Cuthbert of Q-Games - Nintendo and Wii U Need a "New Super IP"

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@Midnight3DS It's cool! I was honestly just wondering what you think would be the best, in your opinion. Retro could do an awesome Star Fox open universe type game where you can fly through space and land on different planets to explore, do missions, ect.. I don't want to give out too many ideas as I am studying to be a game designer myself and don't want to risk people stealing my golden ideas haha.

Re: Dylan Cuthbert of Q-Games - Nintendo and Wii U Need a "New Super IP"

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I like this Dylan Cuthbert. He should become rather familiar with Nintendo again and create a game for one of their systems, I say. I can understand why these people leave Nintendo and create their own dev companies or join another, as Nintendo is very strict, but they are the best at what they do for a reason. I hope Monolithsoft's next game blows peoples minds, and perhaps Retro will create a new IP for the Wii U eventually.

Re: Rumour: Rockstar Won't Be Bringing WWE Or Grand Theft Auto To The Wii U

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@Zellybeanie Da Bears, of course.

In my opinion, and if this rumor is true, it only hurts Rockstar in the long run. Forming a good relationship with Nintendo would only help them, but by shunning them it hurts both financially (if and when the Wii U install base booms) and by making them look like pompous douches. Nintendo is the greatest gaming company of them all, and they will survive with or without GTAV and WWE either way.

Re: Review: Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move (3DS eShop)

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@MeddlingIdiot A seven is great for this game. Read the entire article, Jon liked it. I think his main gripe is how the 3D doesn't affect gameplay. Also, he says a few of the mini games aren't as great as they could be. This game is a no doubt download for me. A 7 is more than respectable. I don't like when reviewers throw out 9's and 10's like candy at a parade. They should be for those games that are truly great and bring something new to the table.

Nice review Jon!

Re: DICE Tested Its Frostbite Engine On Wii U, Wasn't Enamoured With The Results

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I'll find out more about this in the coming months, but I feel like this is just a lie pushed from the top of EA. Nintendo gave EA a big "nope" to Origin being the main online store on the Wii U and EA has been taking it out on Nintendo ever since. I'm sure the Frostbite Engine ran just fine on the Wii U, and if it didn't could with some tweaks and adjustments.

If every suit at EA should just cease to exist in any manor, I wouldn't care one iota. It's like EA is that little bratty kid saying "I didn't get my way so now they don't get to play with any of my toys".

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U Virtual Console Has Started, But Not With a Bang

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@SuperCharlie78 I'm not sure how else to reach them with this message, but every time I fill out a Club Nintendo survey I tell them that they should adopt the PSN account method. Who knows if Nintendo will ever move in this direction, but I certainly hope they do. I'd love to be able to buy a game on the eShop and play it on both the Wii U and 3DS VC. That would make the higher price points more reasonable.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U Virtual Console Has Started, But Not With a Bang

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

It's pretty obvious to me that if they want to compete with their main competitor they need to add Gamecube games on the VC for $9.99 - $14.99 a pop, just as PS2 games are priced on the PSN. I know my beloved Nintendo would tell you that they don't care about competing with Sony, but they are just saying that. They know. Deep down, they know.

Edited to rightly reflect the pricing of PS2 games. PS1 games are usually $9.99. My mistake. I'm, unfortunately, human.

Re: Nintendo Download: 9th May 2013 (Europe)

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@ThomasBW84 Yeah, I agree! This week is great for EU. I don't vote on this one because I live in the US but you'd think that Mario and DK: Minis on the Move or The Starship Damrey would be an instant download for most. I know I'll be downloading M&DK from the 3DS eShop this Thursday for sure, and The Starship Damrey next week unless the reviews are horrid.

Re: Talking Point: Why Nintendo Life is a Part of the Animal Crossing: New Leaf Mayor Program

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@Erica_Hartmann Totally agree about Animal Crossing being more suited, and better even, on Nintendo's handheld. I enjoy Mario Kart on both home and handheld consoles equally though. They are just straight up fun kart racers. Online play was made for those games (obviously not really, but racers are so much fun in multiplayer mode, and online accommodates those who don't have another person around them all the time). Hopefully the Mario Kart U makes some strides forward for the series. Mario Kart 7 is great, but the additions were pretty basic.

So all you lovely folks also have jobs where you are paid I take it? Well that makes sense, because this site is awful! lol I'm just messin'.

You people do a great job, and I'm sure everyone appreciates the coverage of their favorite gaming company as much as I do. There are some other Nintendo-centric websites out there, but I stick to this one because of the professionalism that the editors have and the respect they show the site frequenters whom make this place what it is. It's a great community to be a part of, and that is because of the people AND the editors.

Re: Talking Point: Censoring Boingy Bits, Bums and Gore

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

That video made me laugh! No sexy curvy looking girl would be bathing with a white t-shirt on. Only fat people do that... Seriously though, I think America takes the censorship a little too far. (As do many other countries) We are humans, we have bodies with breasts and butts and vaginas and penis'. We were brought into this world naked. Some people wonder why they end up so screwed when it comes to relationships and sex. It's because of all this censorship and those who tell us that it is wrong to enjoy the human body.

I've discussed this somewhere before, but there was a time that Europeans decided enjoying the human body wasn't civilized. A long, long time ago mind you, before America as we know it today. It's time to knock that theory of thought out of our minds. Let people do what they like and see what they want as long as it doesn't physically harm a person (that doesn't want to be physically harmed).

Re: Madden NFL Is Skipping Nintendo Systems For The First Time Since 1991

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

EA is still butthurt about Nintendo going the opposite direction with the Wii U eShop.

EA is like the little rich kid who decides not to bring his football to school because he sucks at sports, therefore leaving the rest of the kids without anything to play with at recess. Luckily for the kids Nintendo has the best playground in the entire town.

If I was Iwata-san I wouldn't want this abysmal greed-fueled corporations products anyhow. I wouldn't work for EA even if they offered me the most ridiculous salary in the history of salaries. They can shove that money right up their... Yeah.

Re: Review: Excitebike (Wii U eShop / NES)

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

As I already have this, one of my favorite games as a child, on 3DS I won't be getting it for Wii U. This leads to a bit of a concern I have for Nintendo...
(stop reading here if you are a mindless drone )

Nintendo needs to allow purchased VC games playable on both their home and handheld consoles. I believe they are headed in this direction, and I have written them countless times, as a game designer myself, encouraging them to do so. Even if it were for an extra fee, say 99 *cents (*insert your own form of currency) it would be great. I don't see the point, other than greed on their part, in keeping it how it is currently. If Nintendo wants to keep pace with the monstrosity that is cell phone gaming they will change their ways on this matter. I believe they will, eventually, but everything is eventual. I love Nintendo and will always encourage them, and hope they will strive to be the best gaming company on our beautiful planet. I am not entitled, this is just a good business practice and will lead to more love from users which is always a good thing.

Re: Game & Wario to Retail at $39.99 in the U.S.

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I can't believe that Nintendo of America thinks this is going to sell systems as you stated @Thomas. The game looks cool and will probably be fun, but it is not going to make systems fly off the shelf when it is released in America. Hopefully Pikmin 3 does that, and the Wind Waker HD remake helps sales even further. Of course they will be relying on the Super Mario U and Mario Kart U titles when they are eventually released. Hey, if G&W sells systems that'd be great! I just don't see it happening without a bunch of great reviews and hype from the internet gaming websites... (So get on that NL )

Re: Watch_Dogs Stalking Onto U.S. Wii U Consoles on 19th November, Europe on 21st November

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

Watch_Dogs looks really cool, and I'll likely get it for Wii U if I purchase it, but I want to know for sure that it doesn't start to get repetitive after 5 hours like some of these open world games like to do. I'll be checking out multiple reviews before I get this game just to make sure. I kind of feel that way with The Last of Us as well, but I have a little more faith in Naughty Dog, and I didn't even play any of the Uncharted series.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Speaks About Zelda 3DS and its Lengthy Development Time

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@SkywardLink98 Nintendo Directs are better than anything Nintendo has done at E3 in a while anyhow. Not a big deal to me, honestly. Nintendo has always rolled their own way, and that decision was nothing different.

@BossBattles Haha amen brother!

Getting back on topic to this game, it looks really cool. Having beat ALTTP a few times I think it will be a treat playing this particular game. It should be interesting to those new to the land of Hyrule in this time period as well.

Re: Rejoice, Mario Kart Wii U Is Coming This Year

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@MrSRArter Handhelds and home consoles are separate entities currently, and Mario Kart Wii was released about 5 years ago this week (April 27, 2008 in NA). Mario Kart 7 is awesome, but it is a 3DS game. The Wii U is something completely different, obviously. It doesn't bother me one bit, an iota even, that Nintendo is releasing a Mario Kart for Wii U sooner rather than later. I think it's outstanding news in fact.

Re: Interview: Marc Franklin - Nintendo of America

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@Tysamu It might appear that way, but it's obviously not available right now. Check your Wii U. I'm waiting for it just like you and everyone else is though.

Nice interview Jon. You did all you could to get some answers, save for asking about a more "normal" account system for the Nintendo Network. The one thing that really bugs me about Nintendo right now is their approach to digital. If I lose my 3DS I lose all my digital games as well, huh? Not cool. Not cool at all. Pretty darn weak, in fact. What is this, the 90's?
