Re: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. Retains Third Spot in UK Charts

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@Peek-a-boo Best Story perhaps. The game is really good overall, but the gameplay is just ok. I loved it, but it's not the end all be all of games. It's scary how games are becoming interactive films. This is why I love Nintendo. It's always gameplay first for them, and me. When games become more about the story than the gameplay, it will be a sad day for the art form.

Re: Inazuma Eleven 3 Kicks Off in Europe on 27th September

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

This is one of those rare times I'm jealous of my EU brothers and sisters, when it comes to games. NA usually gets earlier releases and some games that EU doesn't receive at all, which is honestly a shame, as in a perfect gaming world the release schedule would look like Pokemon X/Y. I love that I'll be able to play Pokemon the same day someone in EU is able to, and vice versa. I've always wanted to try one of these Inazuma Eleven RPG's, but they never come to NA. I doubt they would sell well, but none the less, I'd like to give one a try and due to region locking I cannot.

Re: Feature: The History Of The Famicom

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I nearly bought a still in the box, brand new Famicom a few months ago, but the price tag was pretty high, around $500 I believe. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Perhaps when $500 is more like $100 to me I'll pull the trigger on one. I love the look of the Japanese version.

Re: Nintendo Reveals The 2013 Club Nintendo Elite Rewards

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@ejamer Exactly. Anyone who buys games just for points is ridiculous anyhow. So basically, one who buys the games they want gets points for doing something they already planned on doing. Club Nintendo points are extra, they are free. We pay for the game, the points are an extra incentive. It's honestly baffling to me how many people don't get this. As I said, people who buy games for points don't count. That's just dumb. When you buy games for other platforms you don't get any points. So perhaps those complaining should just play on other consoles, and then they wouldn't waste time complaining about nothing. Sorry about the rant!

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Optimistic About The Future of Wii U

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@koopakid Metroid, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Mother, Star Tropics, Animal Crossing, Steel Diver, PilotWings, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, Battalion Wars, Excite, ect... Plus new frist-party IP's. Don't be so doom and gloom. "Face the facts" huh? More like face your opinion. Opinions are worthless my friend, and once you learn that you'll be much happier, and more intelligent. I'm not saying you aren't intelligent, but your statement was not.

Re: Pikmin 3 is Playable Next Weekend At GameStop or EB Games

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I'm lucky enough to have one of the Wii U showcases right down the road (2 hours away) at Navy Pier in Chicago, so I'm going to head there on my birthday next weekend and check some games out and whatnot. I don't want to play too much Pikmin 3, if any. I know I'm getting that game and that it will be quality. I do want to check out The Wonderful 101 and some other titles though.

That "one day early" deal for pre-ordering the digital version isn't enough to coax me into it. I prefer physical copies. A $10 discount might make me think twice, it's alright... I'd probably still get the physical copy.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Optimistic About The Future of Wii U

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I'll do my part by purchasing Pikmin 3, TW101, Super Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD, DKCR: Tropical Freeze, and Mario Kart 8... but will others? I sure hope they do, as I would hate to see Nintendo struggle this generation. Are those games enough to sell the Wii U? Time will tell. Hopefully they don't make the same mistakes in the future, because the gaming world needs Nintendo, and I truly love them. A little after Mario Kart 8 arrives, we should have a pretty good idea. Mario Kart's are always popular with gamers of every kind.

Re: Review: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (3DS)

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@gaby_gabito The only people that would know that right now are the reviewers. This game doesn't come out until tomorrow, and NA next month. The answer, though, is both.

Sigh I'm so excited for this game, but must wait. Hope all my EU friends enjoy it tomorrow! I guess I'll have SMTIV to hold me over. Great review, as usual @ThomasBW84. This next month or so has some nice RPG's of all shapes and sizes. This, SMTIV and Tales of Xillia!

Re: Review: Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@Peach64 I wasn't criticizing at all, just laughing. Furthermore, I never said there is anything wrong with using reviews, especially websites like metacritic. However, people should have an idea before they see a "9" and all of a sudden want the game. To go from not interested to "omg I'm getting this game now!" based off of one review is ridiculous, and anyone with half a brain can see that. You have your opinion, I have mine. We can agree to disagree.

When I use reviews, I am on the fence about the game. I've never gone from "nope" to "YES!" solely based on one review. That's what I'm getting at. What is wrong with having faith in yourself and knowing your tastes? I have no problem with reviews and I love this website as well, but the total 180 degree turns made me laugh. Why so serious?

Re: Ubisoft CEO Admits ZombiU Sales Were Disappointing, No Plans For Sequel

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

@Einherjar You sure do "use a lot of unnecessary quotation marks" buddy. In fact, I can see you doing the "finger quotations" every time you "do this". Ok, enough nonsense from me, and I don't mean any harm to you .

Firstly, you don't need to tell me the occasional obvious fact you mentioned. I'm a game designer, and I understand how this stuff works. You need to tell the hundreds of thousands of people that play bad games. Secondly, I said I didn't enjoy most of the game. It's just my opinion. I enjoyed it for a bit and then it became rather monotonous in my point of view. Lastly, I don't play CoD or any sports games, so I don't support those either. I've been around for a long time my friend, I know how launch periods work because I've seen every one of them. You need to preach to someone else haha. Thanks for reading and responding though.

It wasn't thrown into a pile of failures, it just didn't sell well because of the low Wii U sales, and the game itself was mediocre. End of story. Some people liked it, some people didn't, and the fact of the matter is the game is somewhere in between those opinions. It was ok; not bad, not good, just ok.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th July (Europe)

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

You lucky EU friends! Have fun with Mario & Luigi RPG 4! I guess I have SMTIV to look forward to next week, so that will keep me busy until August 11th (NA release date). Speaking of which, that week has Pikmin 3 (August 4) Tales of Xillia (August 6) and M&L:DT. Wow.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Believes The Wonderful 101 Won't Need DLC

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I'm definitely supporting this title. I just recently started following Kamiya-San on Twitter and he is hilarious! He's a really cool guy, and his titles always seem to have a ton of unique style. Originally, I wasn't too thrilled at what I saw, but that has changed a lot with some new gameplay footage from E3.

Re: Pachter: Nintendo Has Lost Its "Mojo"

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

Personally, I think FIFA, CoD, and Battlefield are not fun, and that Pikmin 3 is a good reason to own a Wii U. However, Nintendo has been slipping quite a bit with it's home console and the way they go about their business these days. There is definitely room for change, and therefore improvement.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Iwata Asks - Development, Accessibility for All Gamers and More

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

I am happy for my EU friends, it's about time they were shown some love for their great passion for gaming! I'll wait patiently during the extra month knowing that.

The next two games I am getting for 3DS are SMTIV and Mario & Luigi Dream Team. Two games that look amazingly fun, two RPG's, yet two very different tones. I am so excited for both, but I think I am a little more so for Mario & Luigi. This summer is actually pretty solid for games, as Pikmin 3 comes out in about a month as well!

Re: Wii U Turned Ubisoft On To Second-Screen Gaming, But Isn't The Focus Moving Forward

Prof_Elvin_Gadd

Companies should keep this "honest opinion talk" to themselves. They do not need to be releasing stuff like this to the general public. It seems like EA are the kings of saying stupid things, and now Ubisoft wants that throne. This makes me not want to get Watch_Dogs at all, which I was going to get for the Wii U. A job well done Ubisoft!

If and when the Wii U gets more popular they will change their tune, which is why they should have never started playing that sour tune in the first place. I'm not mad at all, I just think these companies lose their heads when they do/say stuff like this. Keep your opinions to yourselves Ubisoft.
