@garfreek I hope so because there’s a decent little fun game in there trying to get out. Perhaps people’s behaviours will evolve over time too when it’s a bit more bedded in and most come to realise that teamwork leads to more success. It was everyones first go to be fair on it and them
For me after playing the demo it had one insurmountable problem….
So it controls well, seemed like an easy to get to grips with and hard to master set up, something that really does well in online play however…. The problem is other people. Heroes who want to dribble all the way out from the back on their own and lose the ball. Take 3 pointer shots and miss rather than pass to a teammate in space. It becomes exhausting if you’re trying to play a team game to win.
They should record the amount of times you pass and use that in matchmaking- put all the solo heroes together to have a bad old selfish time and leave the rest of us play the game properly.
When you're playing mario kart with your friends with the cameras on thats where this really comes into its own. Seeing your mates reactions as you hit them with a perfectly lobbed banana peel will always be priceless
@StevenH I don’t think anyone has been buying them for the limited unlocks for years and years. They’re just cute little nintendo figurines that cost £17 and you put them on the shelf and they look nice 😊
This will be the one that completes my collection- all including the Japanese famicom ROB variant. It’s been incredibly stressful with preorders selling out in minutes for some of them so I don’t feel any sense of achievement just sheer relief that I don’t have to go through the pre-order nightmare every single time a new one is announced 👍
@Fizza I initially thought they wouldn’t call it the Nintendo Shift as its only one letter away from the swearword for poo. But then I remembered that they named two other recent consoles after urine so there we go!
The expansion offers great value in its first year. Problem is once it gets to the point of renewal you’re essentially paying for access to a retro game library that you’ve already played to death. Sure there’s expansions for mario kart and animal crossing but again not everyone will have those specific games (although granted they sold a metric sh*t ton). Problem would be solved by adding more consoles to the vc proposition at least one new console a year would do it
Being both cloud-based (so needing constant fast reliable internet) and handheld (so you in theory move around a lot with it and travel out of the house) makes this a pretty braindead non-starter of an idea
I was at work when these dropped and they were gone within a few hours. Same old thing every single time. Limit of 4 per customer was stupid- yes you might want 4 to play 4 player but in reality a lot fairer if more people can get them rather than a few people with 4. Plus 4 per person means at least 3 of them are going on ebay for scalping. Nintendo never learn.
I'm not interested in whether this is right or wrong but this does mean that I now don't have to scroll through a load of reaction videos to find the official feed so for that reason alone I'm fine with this...
Right then, for balance from people who have issue with this piece I’d like to say that that I personally think this copy, and a lot of Kate’s articles, reads like a nice meandering conversation with a friend. The type of friend who would always get invited down the pub because they say the moat interesting things in the funnest way. I like a meander a lot more than I like a checklist, keep it up and don't go changing.
@andyg1412 boring answer I know but it’s only due to date formatting. The USA go with month/ /day /year and uk/europe the standard is day /month then year so its Mar 10 (march 10th/Mar10 day!) in the usa. In Europe it is technically 10Mar and whoever heard of 10Mar day?
I think I’m possibly alone in wishing more people rated P.N.03. Loved that game despite it’s repetitive nature- almost felt like a rhythm action game in the combat at times and a really satisfying thing to play
Anyone who isn’t familiar with Will’s work should check it out- an essential part of UK games publishing in the 90s. I hope Will gets well soon- on top of the awesomeness of his art he’s a thoroughly decent chap to boot
If it were genuine the image is to display to internal Ubi staff how the amiibo look-that's the while purpose of the photo. To then obscure the image with confidential warnings would defeat the whole pirpose of the image in the 1st llace. Therefore I call BS...imo
I think this is a game that was crying out for a multiplayer demo prior to launch. Not blastball (although that's nice freebie) but a splatoon testfire style demo of the main quest.
Also if anyone is missing the experience of old school print games journalism try a copy of Retro Gamer, remonds me of the best examples of games mags from the 90's
I loved onm and this was a great read. I'd like to see more of Kate's writing on NL. I'd also love to see something similar on Total! with Steve Jarratt perhaps and Super Play with someone like Will Overton. The 90's were a golden era of print games journalism so there's a rich vein of stuff there to mine.
I think it would be incredibly wise to reveal the concept 1st before showing it off at e3. Seems like they've learnt from the wii u e3 debut where some didn't understand what it was. You can never assume that your audience has at least a semi functioning brain if their own or the ability to actually pay attention...
I thought the initial content was actually fine as it helped me learn the mechanics without getting overwhelmed. The drip feed of new stuff helped to keep servers busy and meant it sustained long-term interest. I preferred it that way personally- helped keep it "fresh"...
@sevex its on the wii shop which means you can view it on the gamepad but need a seperate controller. Personally I play it with my club nintendo wii snes controller for added authentic awesomeness.
The gba version has new espers and bug fixes but also a bonus dungeon. I think its worth a double dip if anyones a big FFVI fan.
As all the spots for characters are used (tragically I've played enough expert 100mario challenge to unlock them all) then this wouldn't be possible without an update. Has got me wondering if there'll be any more tweaks to the game itself with the update? Hmm...
@gcunit wise words. Being a former analyst myself I am aware that the role entails a lot more than sticking your finger in the air and offering an opinion not backed by evidence or stats. Patcher is a videogame media personality nothing more. He survives due to the oxygen of the publicity he generates much like a slightly less offensive version of Katie Hopkins. Hes a fool.
i understand why sites report his inane ramblings as it generates hits and comments and they're a business at the end of the day so it's not really my choice as a reader what they cover. I do however wish I lived in a world where Patcher was just shouting loudly in an empty room with no-one to listen to him.
Maybe if nintendolife carry on reporting on his ramblings they should just stop referring to him as an analyst. Perhaps just call him a "gaming personality" or something as he is as much an analyst as some guy you met in the pub.
Im in the UK so good for me but it is a bit harsh on the US and Canada. If only the 3ds weren't region locked then you could have had a sneaky import...
I've been a reader since the vc reviews days and have to say the reason why you guys are the biggest nintendo site is because of the quality of the writing. 10 years old is approx 212 in internet site years so well done its richly deserved. Heres to another 10 years
I loved chu chu rocket on the DC and this version is great as the puzzle mode really adds a lot. Thing is the multiplayer really makes this game special so whilst I'll still buy it (how could you not!?) it wont be as good as it could have been if theres no way to implement that multiplayer mode.
Theres a bit in one of the ds zelda games (think it's in hourglass) where you have to close the ds so that something imprints on the other screen. Will be interesting to see how they get around that on the wii u if this list has some truth in it.
@Wil very occassionally but im not great. I still have a love of anime which I hold you and Super Play personally accountable for though. Im a big fan of Pete Fowler too. So if you're a leg-end does that make you a foot or an ankle?
@Wil was going to comment what a legend Steve Jarrat is from his Total days and then another bonefide legend pops up in the comments. Will- I'm not brown-nosing here but just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me to draw in my youth by attempting to copy your brilliant Super Play art.
Its strange to see quite a few negative comments on the shantae games because it kind if jars with my experience. Played the most recent one (pirates curse) on the wii u recently after getting it on sale and in retrospect would have happily paid full price. Guess not many people realise what the gameplay is actually like until you play it -just a really tight well designed metroidvania with great character and humour. Don't get whats not to like?
I then bought the 2nd one on dsi through my 3ds (i know its getting a bit of a hd remake but i couldn't wait). Not quite as good as the most recent one but still great. Started on the gameboy colour game then- not amazing just solid, but it still had a certain charm and still better than most gb games.
TL:DR buy the 2nd and 3rd games if u like metroid or tightly designed platformers.
