Re: Platinum Studio Head Doesn't Think Next-Gen Hardware Will Be As "Ground-Breaking" As The Switch

PcTV

@Xansies Games might look better, but they're mechanically the same. If you think back to other generational leaps, you were always met with those games that were just impossible on last gen hardware. The function of the new hardware, is clear.
I just can't think back to that many moments when I felt that this generation. For the most part, this generation felt like last gen but with better performance and visuals. And the next one looks to be yet again the same.

@mesome713 I'd like to know exactly how were backers missled.
I don't know about you, but I actually backed this game and pledged for one of the physical tiers. (I really wanted that CD)
On May 7th they gave me the digital code for the Steam version for free in compensation of me waiting more than expected when, quite frankly, it wasn't even their fault, but I appreciated their gesture, and makes me wanna support them whenever they make another crowdfund.

Re: Pokémon Players Cup Announced, New Online Tournament For TCG, VGC And Pokkén Players

PcTV

@NotoriousWhiz In my experience, ARMS, Pokkén, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary and Dragon Ball FighterZ, all have a fairly active online scene.
I was an active player of Ultra SF2 and can tell you, the launch of the 30th Anniversary Collection is what killed it's online in a matter of days.

EDIT: PowerRangers Battle for the Grid has crossplay, and it's also active.
How could I forget? Mortal Kombat 11 has one of the most active comunities right now.

Re: Capcom's Resident Evil Series Has Doubled The Lifetime Sales Of The Company's Former Champion

PcTV

@carlos82 I don't agree with that.
Capcom specially has ventured a lot into toys, collectables, comics, manga, anime, cartoons, movies, even have their own arcade classics "mini".

I don't think Capcom is wrongfully using their franchises, btw, just pointing that out. If anything, we're on a Capcom reinassance of sorts. Think back to Azura's Wrath, DmC, SFxT, SFV, and then look at RE7, MHW, Mega Man 11, SFVCE, DMC5. Quite the improvement.

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Create An Apple Arcade-Style Service For Smartphones?

PcTV

My problem with those kind of services are pretty much two:
1. Game ownership.
2. The type of games these services encourage.

A game you love can disappear with next to no warning.
When you have to come up with new ways for people to subscribe and keep renewing to the service, you stop giving them games and instead release it in monthly updates, and maybe after a year or so, you get something resembling a complete game.

And I think NSO collections have shown that retro games are popular with only a small group. It's almost heartbreaking when an obscure, great game gets added and instead of being celebrated, it gets downvoted to hell.

Re: Video: A Closer Look At The Mini Nintendo Switch Dock With GameCube Ports

PcTV

I'd recommend anyone looking for a portable Smash experience to get the PowerA Wireless GameCube-styled Pro controllers.
Not quite the Nintendo quality, but a good enough aproximation if you find at $20 or $25 for Smash on the go.
You skip the risk of bricking your Switch, and get the benefit of wireless and the "missing" Pro controller inputs.

Re: Nintendo Just Launched Two Special Fire Emblem Game Variants On Switch In Japan

PcTV

You don't need to create a second account, you can change your main account to japanese (as long as you have no money on it), download the Famicom App (and Super Famicom while you're at it) to your Switch, change it back, and the App will remain there and update like normal.
I even bought a japanese game once, and that way it's still tied to my main account.
