I think the App has been worthwhile for some time now, for everything except chat.
It's great for viewing Splatoon 2 news without opening the game, browsing and queueing user creations in Super Smash Bros. and Animal Crossing is the best use so far for the reasons listed above.
@Xansies Games might look better, but they're mechanically the same. If you think back to other generational leaps, you were always met with those games that were just impossible on last gen hardware. The function of the new hardware, is clear. I just can't think back to that many moments when I felt that this generation. For the most part, this generation felt like last gen but with better performance and visuals. And the next one looks to be yet again the same.
@mesome713 Uhm... And you use crowdfunding why, if not to gauge interest in your product and help it release to market? How selfish of you, to pin on Platinum issues caused by a global pandemic just because some people get to play digitally before you get your physical copy.
@mesome713 I'd like to know exactly how were backers missled. I don't know about you, but I actually backed this game and pledged for one of the physical tiers. (I really wanted that CD) On May 7th they gave me the digital code for the Steam version for free in compensation of me waiting more than expected when, quite frankly, it wasn't even their fault, but I appreciated their gesture, and makes me wanna support them whenever they make another crowdfund.
@mesome713 Oh you mean how they had to give free digital copies to backers to make up for a pandemic that was in no way shape or form their fault?
Or you mean the blank codes that took a couple days to replace?
What a mess!
EDIT: The codes were replaced within the same day, my bad.
I already had a pretty bad experience with the last one when it was at that price. Insane load times, huge memory space, always online nonsense, in-game ads, etc. It's just too bad of an experience to pay anything for it.
@NotoriousWhiz In my experience, ARMS, Pokkén, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary and Dragon Ball FighterZ, all have a fairly active online scene.
I was an active player of Ultra SF2 and can tell you, the launch of the 30th Anniversary Collection is what killed it's online in a matter of days.
EDIT: PowerRangers Battle for the Grid has crossplay, and it's also active.
How could I forget? Mortal Kombat 11 has one of the most active comunities right now.
@carlos82 I don't agree with that. Capcom specially has ventured a lot into toys, collectables, comics, manga, anime, cartoons, movies, even have their own arcade classics "mini".
I don't think Capcom is wrongfully using their franchises, btw, just pointing that out. If anything, we're on a Capcom reinassance of sorts. Think back to Azura's Wrath, DmC, SFxT, SFV, and then look at RE7, MHW, Mega Man 11, SFVCE, DMC5. Quite the improvement.
@carlos82 It's hard to get tired of those franchises when there are so many great ones, and you see most of them once, maybe twice in a console generation.
My problem with those kind of services are pretty much two: 1. Game ownership. 2. The type of games these services encourage.
A game you love can disappear with next to no warning. When you have to come up with new ways for people to subscribe and keep renewing to the service, you stop giving them games and instead release it in monthly updates, and maybe after a year or so, you get something resembling a complete game.
And I think NSO collections have shown that retro games are popular with only a small group. It's almost heartbreaking when an obscure, great game gets added and instead of being celebrated, it gets downvoted to hell.
I'd recommend anyone looking for a portable Smash experience to get the PowerA Wireless GameCube-styled Pro controllers. Not quite the Nintendo quality, but a good enough aproximation if you find at $20 or $25 for Smash on the go. You skip the risk of bricking your Switch, and get the benefit of wireless and the "missing" Pro controller inputs.
@AstroTheGamosian I'd recommend the Hori version of that same concept. Much closer to an actual GCN controller, still not perfect, but a big upgrade, imo. I think you might still find one for cheap if you don't get picky with the theming, I played a lot of Smash 64 and Brawl that way last year.
I'm surprised seeing so much hate for this game and the offer, it's a fantastic arcade game and free is the best price! And I'm guessing a good amount of regular PCs can run this game no problem, if you have no Gaming PC or console other than Switch.
You don't need to create a second account, you can change your main account to japanese (as long as you have no money on it), download the Famicom App (and Super Famicom while you're at it) to your Switch, change it back, and the App will remain there and update like normal. I even bought a japanese game once, and that way it's still tied to my main account.
@RupeeClock That would use up the player's saves, and in FE specially they're pretty useful to explore different routes if you find yourself in a crossroads.
@antdickens Reading the article you learn what it trully is for, yes. I didn't say it was lying, I said it was missleading. It's presented as NL's Reader Survey. I know I (and some others, looking at the comments) clicked the article thinking it'd be a different thing entirely.
@Alpha-2002 Dude the starter kit is like 80 bucks, no one would reasonably expect that kind of hardware. Considering that, it actually offers some great experiences.
The story is so moving. When I remember the concept that games are meant to be fun for everyone, I'm reminded immediately of Satoru Iwata. A trully inspiring and beautiful message.
@Heavyarms55 That'd be full nudity, wouldn't it? I find your direct association of the acceptance of nudity and how developed a country is, a little funny, I gotta say.
@Heavyarms55 There's some fairly revealing clothing in the game. I think Sharla might have the most revealing ones. Might seem tame in a world with Senran Kagura or even Xenoblade Chronicles X. But it warrants the label either way imo.
@Heavyarms55 I mean if someone's getting picky I'm glad it's the ESRB. Rather have them put that in the back of the box than have another outcry about how children are exposed to sex and violence in videogames.

@Goat_FromBOTW I'd argue it's a different game from the same series.

@nessisonett And the Switch blew people away at launch, that's literally the point Kamiya is making.

@TJWorks I had no issues getting into casual matches. A couple weeks ago.

You can't do much better than Rygar, Wild Guns and Tetris Attack in the same month.
Great update in my book!

Re: Bandai Namco Offers "More Fun For Everyone", Except Switch Owners
@Dman10 That logic kinda falls appart when they could just offer it as a PS Plus title or add it to PS Now. Same with Xbox and Gamepass.

I only have the Switch version, so getting it free everywhere else is about perfect for me.
Re: Random: Former Halo Composer Would "Love To" Work On The Zelda Series
He is an amazing composer, I'd be down if they're even interested on someone outside of Japan.
Re: Nintendo Just Launched Two Special Fire Emblem Game Variants On Switch In Japan

@Entrr_username Doom Eternal
