Earlier this month, we highlighted a third-party Switch dock like no other. The 'Power-Bay' from Taiwan-based accessory maker Brook is just like the official dock, but as we noticed the first time around, it looked just like a mini GameCube.
Our lovely senior video producer Alex Olney has now got hold of this unique-looking product. It's got all the necessities you would expect, such as HDMI and power ports, and can support up to four controllers. Two of these ports are designed for GameCube controllers and the other two cover USB input.
The system even comes with a little handle, that resembles the one on the GameCube, and can be used to prop it up if you're playing games of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in table-top mode. For the full rundown, check out the video above. Below are a few more angles of the product, along with the dimensions of it:
Do you like the look of this dock? Tell us what you think in the comments below.

I'm a little disappointed in myself since gamecube controllers just don't feel good to me like they used to. That's a neat looking dock though.
@Kalmaro Yeah I tried playing Smash Wii U with a GCN controller and it's just...bleh. lol
Does it brick your switch though?
Wouldn't trust it frankly.
Where did the 4 port version go now? They mentioned it???? Thought he would give a live run using it? That makes it very highly unlikely anyone would want it since there was no showing it running and in use? Most time they give us that but why not with this one? Makes you wonder now doesn't it????
@Joeynator3000 Yeah, maybe it's just me getting older, I dunno. The pro controller feels fantastic though.
Seems like a nice solution but 3'rd party docks totally untrustworthy.
The gamecube controller is easily my favourite controller - I use it for nearly everything. It's the only controller where you can hold down one face button and press any of the others simultaneously (A+B, A+Y, A+X). The two shoulder buttons on the GameCube controller feature 255 levels of sensitivity. The C-stick was designed to be easily tapped, but to also function as an effective second analog stick if need be. The controller melts into my hands, becoming an extension of my body.
@Aurumonado That sounds awesome, the pro controller can do all of that except A+Y and the sensitivity of the shoulder buttons. I don't think any games use that though.
@Kalmaro I think part of it is that I just got too used to the 3DS control setup at that point. xD Then I try the GCN controller and it just felt "wrong" to me. lol
@Joeynator3000 Yeah the gamecube controller isn't bad by any means, it's just different enough that I can't use it anymore.
@Kalmaro Ya for Nintendo Switch games the only game I'm aware of that uses the analogue triggers is GRID Autosport. Major bummer Rocket League doesn't use them especially when switch players can play with PC players anyway. They would be necessary if Nintendo ever remastered Super Mario Sunshine though.
EDIT: Apparently Trials Rising also uses the analogue triggers so I'll grab that from Shop4 posthaste!
Yeah but 3rd party docks can brick your system, so no thanks.
@Joeynator3000 I'm trying to play through "Brawl" again on my Wii U, but using the GameCube controller adapter that came with "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U" won't work, because the only way to play "Brawl" on a Wii U is to go to the Wii Channel.
So I have to use a PDP-made controller that is shaped like a GameCube controller but functions as a Wii Classic Controller. I honestly hate that controller. It feels bulkier than a standard GameCube controller, and the buttons feel stiff as a board when pressed.
I would rather use a genuine GameCube controller to play through "Brawl" again, but I will need a different adapter for it than the one Nintendo has provided. Fortunately, I may have found one, but I'll have to look up reviews for it first.
Sell it with a replacement guarantee for any bricked switch plus compensation for any loss of data and I'll buy it.
Yikes, that looks cheap and nasty.
An ethernet port would have filled that gap at the back nicely!
No ...I refuse to buy bootleg modern consoles ,or parts ..
@Tandoori ..Not coming out of China /Taiwan ..
@HollowSpectre i wouldn't trust any dock from anyone. If you want a small dock, perform a reshell with a BASSTOP or similar replacement shell that uses your original docks internals. It takes maybe 20 minutes and you do not ever have to worry if Nintendo will brick your switch with a future update.
@AstroTheGamosian I'd recommend the Hori version of that same concept. Much closer to an actual GCN controller, still not perfect, but a big upgrade, imo.
I think you might still find one for cheap if you don't get picky with the theming, I played a lot of Smash 64 and Brawl that way last year.
I'd recommend anyone looking for a portable Smash experience to get the PowerA Wireless GameCube-styled Pro controllers.
Not quite the Nintendo quality, but a good enough aproximation if you find at $20 or $25 for Smash on the go.
You skip the risk of bricking your Switch, and get the benefit of wireless and the "missing" Pro controller inputs.
Man, it's upsetting because I want this really bad but there's no way I'm risking my console getting bricked. It's also too wide. That shelf already has a GameCube, Wii, Wii U, Switch, and GBA Consolizer on it.
Probably about as reliable as the McCann's looking after the kids!
Just no!
