As nice as it is to have Level-5 back, I feel like they’re in danger of over-announcing. All of their big releases have been pushed back already, we don’t need anything else until they’re done with those.
I don’t mind the glut of remakes on Switch, and I for one really like the original MvDK… but this just seems like an aesthetically bland version of a game that could just as easily have been whacked onto Nintendo Switch Online.
I don't really have a problem with the code-in-box thing (especially for a live service game like this), but that big white banner at the top always ruins the boxart.
I’m liking these 7-star raids as a way to slowly introduce a handful of Pokémon that won’t be available until Home compatibility next year. As limited time events go, it’s nice that nobody really misses out as it’s not hard to find spares on Wonder Trade and they’ll be fully transferrable in a few months.
That said, I wish the raids were a bit more pleasant to play. To call them unoptimised would be an understatement - even playing them offline with AI partners feels clunky and like nothing is quite working as seamlessly it should.
@Khyron5 For what it’s worth, I reeaaaally don’t recommend playing both Cyber Sleuth games back to back. They’re both fantastic RPGs, but the second one retreads so much ground from the first one that it really soured my experience. Would definitely suggest playing something else in between to avoid burnout.
I'm happy to be proved wrong, but I truly don't think this will ever be released. Some things are just bigger than a video game, and a major war in Europe with dramatic international repercussions is definitely one of them.
I really enjoyed Super Leap Day and I’m genuinely surprised it started off life as a Sonic game. Would definitely recommend people check it out regardless - it’s a really good time waster.
I picked up Saints Row IV in the sale yesterday (for a RIDICULOUSLY cheap price!) so that’ll be what I’m doing with my weekend. Having a blast with it so far.
I’ve a busy weekend ahead of me but looking forward to getting through some more of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition in my spare time! Picked it up after thoroughly enjoying the sequel and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the 8 or so hours I’ve put into it so far.
Also more of the Pokemon Shining Pearl post-credits grindfest. I’m surprised how engrossed I am in this one - it may not be a particularly expansive remake, but when the original was so good, it makes sense that I’d be having a blast all over again.
Always find it bizarre that we seem to get an article about a Kemco sale approximately every six hours (give or take) but only one of the Switch games has even been reviewed on here.
Not picking up Metroid just yet as I have a bunch of other games to get through. Going to be trying to finally beat NEO: The World Ends With You at last, and now that I’ve finished its story mode I can start on Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania’s hellish extra modes.
The furry stuff isn't for me, but this looks like a pretty solid visual novel. Full voice-acting is neat (as well as the cast itself!), and the fact that the dating mechanics don't seem to be gender-locked is nice to see.
There's definitely a market for this stuff, it's not hurting anyone!
Interesting to see that the rumours from last year seem to have had some basis. Sounds like Samus was talked about but never made it far into development.
I’m not a Fortnite player but some of y’all really need to lighten up about it, btw. Nobody’s forcing you to play it.
I love me some Earthbound and Undertale, but I have to say this looks a little too inspired. What I enjoyed about Undertale was that while it did clearly take some inspiration from games like Earthbound and Moon, it also forged its own visual identity and did some interesting and unique things with the gameplay. This looks like an Earthbound fangame with Undertale’s morality system tacked on.
Unconvinced this is a new character, if only because that would suggest Nintendo had always planned for seven - in that case, why announce six?
Although I’d be happy to be proved wrong. Ultimate has been so popular that it would make a lot of sense to keep the DLC going. Sakurai basically owns my wallet at this point.
At this point, games taking a slight visual hit to make into Switch is par for the course. As long as it still plays well and there's no content cut, I'm happy to sacrifice some dynamic lighting.
I’d love to see Chulip made more widely available. I’ve heard... less than stellar things about Rule of Rose but it’d be nice to have on Switch as a curio that never came to the UK.
Skipped the PS4 version because I thought this port was inevitable and it felt right to get it on the same console as I played the N. Sane Trilogy on. Came around sooner than I thought, excited for this!
Cautiously optimistic about this mode. Already 100%ed the original on Wii U (purchased through a voucher I won on this very site!), but I’ve a Game Voucher burning a hole in my eShop account and if reviews say Bowser’s Fury is worth the asking price, I’ll double dip.
Wow, I’d never really considered the fact that Miyamoto won’t be with the company forever.
He gets a lot of stick for recent design choices, eg the direction of the Paper Mario series, but he’s unquestionably a genius. That said, I think his faith in the next generation of producers is well placed - the Zelda series has gone from strength to strength since Aonuma took the reins.
Seeing Sephiroth right next to Pichu is completely wild.
Super jazzed for him being DLC though! I finally did my first playthrough of FF7 just a couple months ago and absolutely adored it, so this is the perfect timing for maximum hype on my end.
The original DS version is one of my all-time favourites. I'd lost all hope of actually getting a sequel, but this is a guaranteed day 1 purchase for me.
Loving how the game looks in 3D too. Combat looks a little more basic than the original but I guess that was very tailored to the DS... and the map looks so much more fleshed out than the original's static screens!
Can’t say I’d even heard of this one but it sounds right up my alley. One to add to the wishlist!
@sixrings Or the reviewer for this game enjoyed it more than the reviewer for Need for Speed enjoyed that one, maybe? A review is way more than just the number on the end.
Seems silly to equate the sales of the Wii U version, which didn’t have much to compete with, with the sales of a port 8 years later that doesn’t add a whole lot extra to compete with a much denser system library. Not to mention that digital sales will undoubtedly be a much higher portion this time around.
I don’t think this means the franchise is dead at all, Pikmin 4 has supposedly been in development for a while now and I can’t see Nintendo leaving one of Miyamoto’s golden geese to die in obscurity.
Does the Switch version have any extra content compared to the PS3 one? I’ve had my PS3 copy sat on the shelf for years and trying to decide whether to rebuy or just hook up my old console...
Props to the Japanese version for having being more colourful, but I’m really not digging the “child soldier” vibe it’s got going on. Those troops are so tiny!
@Tyranexx I recently finished both. They're a lot of fun and well worth sticking it out to the end but yup, they can definitely start to feel like a bit of a repetitive slog, especially if you play them back to back like I did...
I actually really enjoyed this one! I understand how it’s not for everyone though. Definitely plays more like a tech demo than a full game, but it was neat to play around with for an hour or so, especially for the price.

I’m cautiously intrigued by this one, but it definitely seems to be more waifu simulator than RPG.

@mike_intv No price point for this one as it’s exclusive to Apple Arcade, which is a subscription service.

It’s a weird thing to not have included from the get-go. Freckles and scars are pretty standard in a character creator.

I got... Father Granddad. Which poses more questions than it answers.

Re: Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain Pre-Orders From My Nintendo Store UK Come With A Free Gift
I’m still on the fence about this one, but the price is appealing. Not sure a packet of post-its is going to get me to rush and preorder, though.
I got a lot of mileage out of the multiplayer on the Wii version though, so if it’s as good here, I’m buying day one!

Re: Nintendo Announces Game Builder Garage, A Quirky Programming Game For Switch

@Clyde_Radcliffe different strokes for different folks, I guess - I wasn’t very into BotW but it definitely had a huge impact on the genre.
